I've been so busy with other projects, contests and whatever that I realized today I haven't used my Ricoh SG3110dn in a month and a half. I threw in a piece of plain paper and did a nozzle check. It printed a perfect pattern. For the limited work that I do with it, you can't beat it!

After using my 14" mh on the road for a few years I've decided to take my 24" cutter instead. I used a rolling sport bag for the mh. I was thinking of getting a 36" rolling duffle bag that has a rigid bottom and extending metal handle for transporting it. Does anyone else have any other ideas for my venture? Thanks

Just finished making a portable vinyl roll/tape roll holder for use on the road. I had everything that I needed in my garage(wood, dowels, bearings and rubber pads).

I had to make three more signs yesterday so that all the entrances to the runway and quad areas are covered. He will here for the weekend again.

The remover is Motsenbockers Lift Off 2 Tape, Adhesive, Grease & Oil Remover . As I said, the trick is to let it soak in for 30-45 minutes. I did remove the front plastic covers, the vinyl position sensor and covered up the electronics before applying it to the adhesive. I was able to grab the end of the adhesive and between pushing it with my finger and pulling it, it came right off. Also, there was zero damage to the cutter finish!

Update. I replaced the cutting strip on my Graphtec, that I picked up a few weeks ago, this afternoon. The old strip came right off but the stick'um stuck really good. I tried denatured alcohol first but it did nothing. I grabbed a bottle of adhesive remover that I had, for who knows how many years, and applied it to 1/2 of the strip. I let it sit on there for around 30 minutes and the adhesive came right off. I applied the remover to the rest of the strip and after 45 minutes sitting, it came off too. After wiping the surface down with alcohol, I installed my new cutting strip and was back in business. The cutter looks and cuts like it was brand new. The guy that I bought the cutter from had the blade set out so far that it cut right through the cutting strip and scored the metal below the strip. Guess he never read Skeeter's blade setting instructions.

I have found that using application fluid, commercial or home brew, on flat surfaces is the way to go. I also use the "hinge method" for applying decals. The more you do, the better you will get. We have all had problems when we first started cutting decals.

The finished setup ready for the road. I still have room to put some short rolls of vinyl with the cutter.

Update! I picked up a 36" rolling duffle bag at Wally World. It has a zippered lower compartment that I put five 24" x 10yd rolls of vinyl in and the Graphtec CE5000-60 in the upper compartment. All I need to do is install a support wall inside the lower compartment and a masonite platform for the cutter to sit on.

US CUTTER MH871-MK2 settings for fine printing
arty-rc replied to adam2342's topic in General discussion
You could apply the vinyl to the glass and then weed it. Making a few relief cuts in the vinyl as you apply it will help it lay flat.- 3 replies
