Best way around this is to use the "simple trace" or "one color logo" preset in the live trace tool bar. Will only trace the black, acting as if the white is transparent.

Are you keeping the vinyl up off the surface while working from left to right? generally if it touches the surface before its meant to be and you squeegee over it, it can create wrinkles and bubbles. You also need to squeegee it very well, don't worry about being too hard on it, the tape will protect the vinyl. What surface are you trying to put it on?

How are you putting it on? Wet or dry? Are you squeegeeing with enough force? Cleaning the surface prior to application? Tell us a bit more about your process then we can help a bit better.

It can be installed either way. For a cabinet door, I would put it on the inside, so that the face of the cabinet stays smooth.

No, I didnt send him the vector file. I just sent a jpeg. Thats how I usually work (might change tho). I vector, I send jpeg for preview, customer approves or request changes, customer pays, I send vector. I did not send a vector file, but I worked it. Riddle, I dont chrge $5 for all jobs. It depends on complexity. $5 is for one color graphics that I can make in one trace, like a continuous shape. Complex things are priced different. Ahh, gotcha! Good deal, even if a trace from your jpeg will be easier for them to do than the original, they'll still have to work a little for it.

Joe: Sounds like a lesson learned here. I would give them a preview in a non vector format before handing over the real deal from now on. They'll get theirs at some point in life.

If you still have issues, hit it with a combo of heat gun and tennis ball. This technique has gotten 631 to stick for me on some of the most textured surfaces I've seen on walls.

You can do this with just about any phone and a google voice #. I've done this with my iPhone.

Look for an HVAC shop. A lot of times they will do sheet metal work for people, as they have all the tools (breaks, shears, etc.) on hand for their work as well.

Hope you get it sorted out. I recall a few months into having my Vinyl Express plotter that it suddenly stopped cutting like it did, and I had to find a new offset in order for it to work properly.

Your pen and your blade have different offsets (pen will always have a .000 offset, whereas blades can vary depending on each blade). You mentioning knowing the proper offset, but I don't see that you've tried it. I would tinker with your offset and see if that nets you anything closer to register than you're getting now. Bottom line is if your pen is getting it perfect, the file is likely perfectly fine. Try adjusting the offset in small increments with some scrap to see if it gets you a better result.

If you turn it off when you're not using it for long periods, it will park the heads and keep the drying out issue in check.

Try rolling it around a smaller diameter tube, pipe, etc. The reason its rolling differently is because it has nothing to conform to. The backing with vinyl still attached is more rigid than the backing alone, which is causing your problem. I've had luck wrapping about around a smaller tube (be it another mailer, pipe, dowel rod, etc.) then sliding it off and into the mailer. Hope this helps!

In Illustrator, make your path (be it a curve, circle, etc.) then hold down on the type tool and a box will pop out. Choose the "Type on a Path Tool." Click on your path and when you start typing, your type will follow it.

I meant unclosed path as in the design. That's when I usually see this issue with flexi.
