Great advice, I agree spend as much as you can afford, and get the best you can, I have a cheap Chinese press, it's served me well but wish I had spent more in the beginning and gone for a good one, same as the cutter really. I have a liyu tc it's certainly paid for itself and some now looking to upgrade to a more professional model like a Graphtec/summa.

Hi I use a board that is a shirt shape that the wife has for her embroidery so I sometimes load onto that and mark with a chalk stick, however mostly I usually lie them on my heat press and use the good old fashioned rule and just take measurements. Sometimes its hard to get precise measurements but with the nature of the beast sometimes don't really matter, depending on the design of course. I think mainly for just text in the design having it straight is the most important as if you are slightly off with centre it wont be seen as much as the slope if not straight.

Don't want to butt in on the thread but is car wrap vinyl easier to use than "normal" sign vinyl for this type of job?

Not sure about cutting master but when I installed signcut it put the shortcut in a icon on the second row from top under where it says file edit etc. it is a little square with a red arrow head on the bottom and it was in there, I'm not good at explaining these things but hopefully it may help!!

Hi I bought a 24inch Hp 800ps, does a really good job of posters/photo's onto canvas and paper, it's an old printer and can be bought quite cheap on the bay, cartridges are very reasonable. I don't use it regularly but just switch it on and it prints great so no probs letting it stand.

Hi not quite sure about Graphtec's however check your blade depth first( just search on the forum on how to set it up properly), then the other thing I would suspect is the cutting strip. I had trouble with mine not cutting on part of the roll and this was the cause. As for the roller at the end of the video I don't know, some one will on here though, on my cutter you can place the rollers at any of the designated points without it checking them, mind you it's just a cheap and cheerful Chinese one! Yep I have the same problem mine is the tc model I put it down to using the usb port, one day I will get myself a serial card !!

Hi Wild goose thanks for the heads up on the summa, we have the zsk great bit of kit, had it three years no problems at all , we bought it new and dealer came and installed it and then trained the wife till she was happy with everything. It was initially for her, she then showed me how to work it. We got the boot attachment and hat attachment , also tubular frames with ours, the machine has been totally reliable over the three nearly four years we have had it, you get a manual with it and all the servicing is in there and is so easy to do, mainly greasing/oiling we were even supplied that with the machine. You won't regret buying it .

Wildgoose notice in your sig that you have a summa cutter how do you find it? I have a cheap liyu tc and looking to upgrade as can't rely on it, especially when you try to do long designs, tracking not good at all.

We embroider its our main business yes big investment but this was purchased as a "take any where" business as we intend to move to France in the near future we did quite a bit of research before committing to it, and found there was possibly a bigger market in the area of France for embroidery rather than printing/vinyl that we are looking to move to. Most of our business is to the equestrian market as that is our hobby (son competes). We added htv and also large format printing recently, however the quality of embroidery still the best for me. Good luck with your new venture!!

Downloaded the beta and do like the look of it and the drawing program is a great addition , really like signcut and the customer service is great.
