I know on flexi software you use the FILL option.  Not outline. There are old posts on here for that.  Here is one.  Might be others, It looks like Fill is on higher versions of Vinyl Master.

Engraver mode....... Got it.       I found the setting.    It's under the plugin button.    I knew it was around there somewhere.

    Thank you MZ Skeeter

  2. Using vinylmaster.

Over the many years of using the plotter I thought at some point I did this.  I want to use a pen or marker in my Graphtec and have it draw a picture on some kraft paper.

Of course, I can get it to do the outline of the drawing just as it would cut vinyl but I'm trying to remember how to get it to fill in the area as it's shown in the vector file.

For example, I can get it to draw a square but out do I get it to fill in the square to make it a solid fill box?

Does anyone know where the settings for this are?

  3. At this point, I'd be pissed.    You've reached out to UPS and Uscutter and no one wants to reply.  I think too many businesses are blaming covid.   Customer service can sit at home and answer the phone in their underwear so there's really no excuse.    By now they should have it all figured out.

I'd be calling my credit card company to dispute the charge.    By now UPS is scamming you (No surprise there) and USCutter (as the seller) isn't putting in any effort to help.

  4. Still have the SRT8 Chrysler and I'm hoping to take it to the track soon.

The time came to buy a newer vehicle and I wanted to make sure it'll tow the 2-ton beast to the track.   Looking around for a dodge ram and dodge really screwed up flooding the market with their stupid quad cab.   I wasn't about to buy a truck that I didn't fit comfortably in the back. Only 1 out of 10 rams I saw in my budget was a true crew cab and there was always something wrong with it.

Ford on the other hand was killing it in the crew cab arena.  I found plenty of nice examples and settled on the one I wanted.

2011 Ford F-150 FX2 with the 3.5L Ecoboost with only 70K miles on the clock. Black on Black with leather.  Now I can comfortably tow the car to the track and not have to worry about making it home when I break it. So far the Ecoboost is giving me 16mpg  around town and only needs regular gas.  That alone saves me $70-80 a month in gas savings because I no longer have to run premium.

I also sent Bill's wife a text this morning. As soon as this Covid-19 mess is over the wife and I will take a drive across state to take her to lunch like we did a couple of years ago.

You are an amazing human being Arty-RC.

I can only hope that if the day ever comes and I'm gone someone treats my wife with the same care and respect you're showing her. Even after the years click away. Mr 300 is surely smiling down at you for thinking of his wife.

This reminds me I'll have to let him know I finally bought a Ford.   But I'll start another post for that.

Awesome! Can I ask, why did you cut the text outline into the acrylic? Did you use the wood to do an inlay, or was it for visual positioning?

Also, what type of adhesive did you use to mount the wood to the acrylic?

I'm new the laser machine thing, and am always looking for advice and suggestions (not to steal anyone else's business) - I'm just a hobbyist, but want to do my hobby the right way ;)

There is no "Right WAY" of doing it. This is just the way I do it.

The Text is cut at low power and high speed to mark the acrylic.   This makes positioning the letters easier.  As far as glue goes E6000 is my go to glue now.   It works on everything, has alot of stickyness to hold, and dries pretty fast.   I used it on this and also leather patches on hats.   I'll post a picture of those later.

  7. It's been alittle while.....

I haven't really been doing much.   Mostly just made the garage signs over the Holidays.   But I did get asked to make a cool sign for a friend of mine.   Every year they go to the Rolex24 and park in the Porsche Corral.  My Friend takes his Porsche 928 and has a full bar in the back during the race.  This year I had 2 days to make a sign for him.  I used some cherry wood engraved and cut on the laser and adhered it to a piece of acrylic I cut on the laser also.   Everyone loved it, and NBC sports actually had an interview with my buddy about BAR 928 and had the sign on national TV.

Ohh she wanted the srt but I wanted one vehicle that got more than the 14mpg my truck gets for going on vacations and if we buy something down south for the winters. it has a sound system that would have made me proud in my teens :)   I think the same engine as the journey but with the 8 speed trans and newer software if smokes the Journey RT.   for someone that is currently looking the employee pricing is hard to pass up and the reason we decided on now and to store it till june 1st when she retires - then sell the Journey

    blah blah blah

    You could have had everything.

My SRT8 has 600hp to the wheels, runs mid 11's, gets 18mpg around town, and 24mpg on the interstate running 80-85.

  9. Same here.   People are going crazy.   gas stations without gas, and empty grocery store shelves.  I messed up 2 years ago and wasn't prepared for Irma.   NOT this time.

I have a generator now that plugs directly into the side of the house and I can power most everything.   Flashlights are ready, power banks are charged, food in the pantry with plenty of propane to cook.

unfortunately I happen to be on call at the hospital this week so that means I have to stay there during the storm.   But again I'm prepared and have an air mattress ready for my wife, son, and myself as well as anything else we need.

It's funny because the last time we went through this my wife was 8 months pregnant with my son.  Now he gets to join in on the fun.

Hey thanks for your reply, Tinting window & PPF is my side hustle so I don’t want to spend too much on graphtecs & Roland as they scale over 4-5K.

I want to buy entry level plotter for about $1500-2000.

My goal is to tint 2-10 cars a month.

if can help to guide me a plotter in my budget & something that will cut window films would be awesome.

Tjanks for the chart about the plotters !!

Wait...........   2-10 cars a month.  Why are you even bothering getting a plotter. For that volume of cars you should be keeping it old school and just cut by hand.   It makes way better business sense to do that.    There's a reason tint plotters cost so much.  It's for high volume shops that need to knock cars out fast because they have 15-20 cars a day to do.  It's going to take you 1-2 years to pay off, and it's a used plotter of all things.  I've helped run my brother's window tint shop and after 25 years of window tinting he's still cutting by hand because it makes a much better install. Tighter edges, more tucked into the window jam, and the rear windows come out better.  When you shrink the rear window it's alittle unpredictable and if it's already cut you're likely to shrink it too much in the wrong areas and have to start over.
Yea it's "cool" to have a plotter but a complete waste for 2-10 cars a month.
