Christmas is here again --- who needs Santa?

Thank you Slice. Will have to check them out tommorow -
Yea, sounds about right

Too low but it depends on your area

Looks good, I have never tried the etching cream because of the cost. If you have a cabinet you can recycle your grit and be a lot cheaper. If you get a cabinet get the biggest one you can because you will find with the small one you out grow the small bench top one fast. I started with the small table top then had to get the big one. Then I built a pass thru cabinet. The last piece I did was 24" x 36" x 3/8".

DNA you are hooked now. Wait until you start etching on the glass and edge lighting it.
-
DNA I always use paint mask but that is just a preference that I have. I also usually etch a little deeper than just frosting it. I don't do many mugs anymore. I mainly do plate glass and mirrors from the back so I can edge light them. I have never tried green star or 651. I started with paint mask and just stuck to it. I also use Raysist sr3000 if I am doing really detailed stuff or just don't feel like weeding the small stuff.

Here is the latest piece that I just finished after almost 10 Hours. It is 24 x 36 x 3/8 glass. Heavy as heck to work with in the cabinet. The man is going to install this in the wall with led lights around it that he can change colors and use a remote. When he first called he wanted ducks but this was what he ended with. Sorry for the bad picture

Jay sometimes you just have to make the time. I have very little time also with trying to help take care of my 92 yr old mother in law. I have had to give up the vinyl side of doing the lettering, I only do some work for my old customers now. I mainly do the glass just to maintain my sanity. I can to out to the shop and when I start on a piece I can forget about the other problems for a while. I can not work any more because of physical problems so it makes me feel like I am still able to do something. Alot of the pieces that I do are not for a customer. Most I will just give to friends. Who knows may be there will be a piece headed your way

I hope that I get to see it after the install. He lives out of state and will be doing the install. I am going to ask him to send pictures when he is done if I get pictures I will post them

Looks good Cal. What did you learn?

Here is a quick piece of glass that I did this week for a custom gun cabinet that the man and his son built and wanted something on the door. He also wanted it off center on the top half of the door. Quick job.

Nice job Jay,I really like the wood sign. What type of media did you use to blast with? That is a nice setup he has there. When I do wood signs I usually spray a light coat of clear paint to seal the pores in the wood so that the color does not bleed out of the blasted area. Again nice job Bob

Thanks Jay for the vote of confidence. There are bad ones that you just don't see. I do a lot of practice pieces that I am not to satisfied with. Sometimes I get lucky and do one right
-
post pictures Jay so we can see the results. What kind of stone are you blasting? I have done a few with paint mask and it worked ok
-
Thanks for the replies guys. Haven't had much time to do any etching lately Bob

Nice work. clean

Really nice job.

Darc that came out really nice. Why don't you try it with glass? The fire polish on the plastic is the way to go for a nice edge. Go-c you can look for a small wet belt sand or use some glass polish oil on your belt sander to take care of the dust. Also makes your belts last longer.

Nice job
