Frustrated, sometimes I will put a small piece on rubber on each end in the slot for the glass to sit on. the 3528 lights are smaller then the others and don't put off much heat. For the rubber I get some of the stuff that they put between the glass when it is shipped. I have become good friends with the glass shop owner. He is a volunteer fireman and I will sometimes make things for their 50/50s. Make friends with a small shop owner and you will get all the free glass that you can use. He will save anything that I can get at least 11x14 1/4in. I don't even put a film over the glass in my blast cabinets I just change them when needed.

Go-C for my bases I use different types of wood. I just run them thru a router and put the edge that I like then run a 1/4 inch slot down the middle for the glass. I use the 3528 led lights and put them in the groove and put the lights on top of them. When I lay out the glass I allow for the depth that they will go into the base so it doesn't cut off your design. Here is where I get my lights KATEWU20152011 on ebay. I go to flee markets and buy old 12 phone chargers for about a buck apiece and use them for the power supply.

Looks good Martin. I like the salem one. Are the other sayings from a game?

Arty looks good to me. I like it. I like to do two stage etching. It gives the piece a lot more depth.

Louis, I use mostly 180 ao for glass with paint mask for the stencil. I blast between 20-30 psi because it gives me more time to work an area without tearing up the mask but that is just my preference. For stone or tile I will use 120 SC. I can get AO locally from an air compressor repair shop for 60.00 for 50 lbs. Best part is he keeps it in stock for me. Try Grainger or Fastenal I have found it there

Martin I know you can do it. I know that I had a problem with drinking to many sodas when working and not taking time to eat properly. I have to stay away from caffeine since got my first pace maker at 39. If you need moral support give me a call. -
Looks good. What size is it?
-
Very nice. I like it. I did one like that for my brothers boat.

Your right Goose. I bought an Epson 1100 to do some shirts and things then I caught myself. Then thought what are you doing? Don't have time to do that so it is sitting on the shelf unopened. Maybe someday when I grow another set of arms but I don't think so -

Inksane the best advice that I can give on etching is to stay as far away from it as posibale. It is like getting hooked on drugs. It is that adicting and you will not want todo anything else. Speaking from experience here. -
nice job.Still don't want to weed it
-
Looks good Jay, now you are really hooked. It is a hard monkey to get off your back once you get started. I bet you are looking around the house saying what can I etch next.
-
Looks good to me. I like the design you chose
-
Welcome from Delaware. You found the right place for info. But be careful everything around here is addicting

Go-c try a restaurant supply store. I have one close by that I use. I can get the 16 oz. for about 3.50 a piece and no shipping charge. They are made by Anchor Glass, It has been awhile since I have done any mugs so the price may have went up -
Looks good hatter. I haven't had too much time lately with family and all. But am getting a couple Of things ready to do soon. Just starting to do 500 bricks for Humane society for their building
