  1. Hi all, Might be a silly question but i cant find the answer in the manual or by searching. Im using my Copam 2500 (24") cutting to cut decals and such. I find that im wasting a bit more vinyl then i would like. Basically, while using signblazer i go to the cutter screen and input how many copies i would like. Say i would like to make 20. 10 fit perfectly on the cutter screen, however, when the cutter goes to work it always cuts off the last decal in half, yet there is still about an inch or two of vinyl left. Did i set this up wrong? In the setup i have the setting at 24" wide. Perhaps the home position of the cutter is set too far in? Any tips or suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Joey

Few Quick Questions with Adobe Illustrator

    Simple enough. Thanks Mark!
  3. Hey all, New with tracing in AI. I have a few quicl questions. Some people have sent me their logo files which are extremely big. When i bring them into AI they are much larger than the given white spacer in AI. My first question is, does the image need to be within the boarders before doing a live trace? If so, what is the best way to shrink it down that keeps it proportional with the original file? When resizing the files, should i make the dimensions the actual dimensions that i want to cut out with the cutter, or does it not matter since my cutting program asks for the sizes? Thanks for the help. Joey
  4. Not a stupid question at all! Actually i never knew that you had to do that. I was under the impression that you just laid the vinyl onto the transfer tape and that was that. Simply just apply pressure with the squeegee or is there a liquid application that you must put on the transfer paper first and run a squeegee over it before the vinyl is laid down? Thanks for the helpful tips guys! Can you get R-tape on this site? Smooth it down just like you would if you were applying it somewhere. That seals the tape to the vinyl. Then, when you are installing, turnt the decal over and remove the backing paper from the vinyl, instead of removing the vinyl from the backing paper. I know this sounds silly, but it is pretty important. You tape should stick to the vinyl after using this method. You don't need app fluid or anything like that. That is for taking the app tape off after you apply the decal. Use something like that and your tape won't stick at all....LOL If you aren't sure of a procedure or method, just post here. We'll all help. I really appreciate the help! It's nice to know there is a forum with a community of great members like yourself willing to help newcomers. I will try the recommendations and report back. Thanks again for all of the help!
  5. Thanks for the tips so far guys, it is really appreciated! Im open to more suggestions and tips

  7. Hey all, I'm just getting started in the vinyl industry and wanted to get a few recommendations from some experienced members. My main activity is vinyl decals that are applied to car windows. Most of the decals are small 6" long text decals. With the cutter i purchased the US cutter starter kit, but i am having a bit of trouble with the transfer paper. It seems the transfer paper in this kit isnt adhesive enough to stick to the vinyl. I find myself sitting there for minutes pressing down hard on the transfer paper just to get the decals to pull up with the transfer paper. Has anyone else had this issue before? Is it indeed the paper in using or am i doing something else wrong? As a reference I am using the Orcal 751 high performance cast vinyl for these window decals. Any recommendations or help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks! Joey
  8. Hello all, First i just want to thank you for taking the time to read this. I will be short and to the point so i can get the best possible opinions from all of you. We are inquiring about which cutter to get that will best suite our needs. What we will be doing: -Small Stickers / Decals (mainly for automobile windows) -Decals will be one color or two colors at the most -We would like to make the ones where you stick on the window and peal the top adhesive layer off With that being said we are looking at the Copam CP2500 series (24"), Zencut Green Series (24"), and the UScutter MH Series (24"). We are looking for a quality cutter that will get the job done for us. We will mainly be doing bulk cuts of the same decals. Which would be fit our needs based on what we will be doing? Pro's and Con's of each setup? Finally, what materials would also be recommended to purchase with the cutter to get started? Thanks for your time and opinions.
  9. Thanks for all of the help guys. It is a little confusing at first so i apologize for the questions. So how does the "cutter" work then? Simply connect it to my computer when the images are at and then it will send them out? After the decals are out, i will then need some sort of cutting tool to cut the individual decals off the large sheet?
  10. Really? So what am i looking for to do the stuff i mentioned above?
  11. Thanks for the reply! I would say the decals will be mostly a few colors at most. Looking to do decals like this... All stuff similar, maybe a few colors more. Im mainly looking to do a bunch of smaller sized decals in bulk. Besides the printer, is there anything else i need to start? If i decided to go with the printer i mentioned is there room to expand to bigger stuff with it? I.E banners, posters etc? ID like the decals to be the ones you stick on and then peal off the top layer.
  12. Hey guys, I hope this section is okay for my subject, wasnt to sure where to post the question. Anyway, i am very interested in starting a vinyl decal business on the side. The majority of the work would be simply printing decals for car windows. Can any of you help me get started with this venture by providing me with information on what i need? From what i have researched i need a printer/cutter. I have looked into the Graphtec CE5000, which seems to be a good model printer. Any objections? Overkill? Is there anything else i will need in order to print besides the vinyl? Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance all!
