    How to create borders?

I just ordered the Refine w/ Flexi starter and should be here in a few days. I currently run a Roland cutter with Signcut which works well but the plotter is getting old and its time for an upgrade, plus signcut wont let me update to a newer version without buying the whole thing. my question is in Signcut I would be able to have text and put a border or shadow from the program. I've read that Flexi does not have this option so most have been doing the borders on inkscape. What do you guys do for borders? I tried using inkscape but the borders are uneven and doesn't seem to give me the option to tweak the shadows or outlines. your help is greatly appreciated.
  2. seperate the layered images. with the japanese lettering seperated from CIVIC, create an outline and then seperate that as well, this will be your red part. cut them all non layered. Lay down the white CIVIC layer the White Japanese lettering on top of the red outline Now lay the 2 merged white/red decals ontop of the CIVIC.

its not, i've inspected it close up and its not digital print. Its just black vinyl and cut in strips varying in width.

    graph job question: how to?

sorry, so much excitement about getting my new plotter I forgot to post up the pics. how do they do this?
  5. I've seen a few cars that have really cool graph techniques and was wondering how it's done. If you look at the pictures you can see that up close its a simple series of black strips cut with various widths. As you step back the entire picture becomes apparent. How is this done?
  6. Hi, i'm currently using an older Roland cutter with signlab. I've used it to just cut vinyl whenever our company needs some signage made. I'm not too familiar with all the programs and how to use it so the online forum w/ support definitely is a HUGE plus for me! Some of the newer AI or EPS files that I try to cut with is not working with our current cutter or program, I suspect the program has more of an impact on this then anything else and I am truly lost with the right course of action. Can i just purchase a program from here to use with our cutter or should I go w/ the full Copam 2500 setup? I just want to have the ability to import an AI or EPS file and just cut it. does your program have the ability to automatically trace an image or vectorize it for cutting? ie. load up a jpg - vectorize it - import - then plot. Sorry if this sounds really lame, I truly am lost. Our company prints up a few logos periodically, they're usually around 4 inches. The largest i've cut with was 23 inches in width.

Am I looking for the right set up?

Here is the link I found of the program on ebay. I take it this is a non necessity? http://cgi.ebay.com/US-PLOTTER-COPAM-SOFTWARE-Sign-Tools-3-Corel-Vinyl_W0QQitemZ120111913684QQihZ002QQcategoryZ26245QQssPageNameZWDVWQQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem FOR 'US' BRAND PLOTTERS & COPAM BRAND PLOTTER CUTTERS (click for a list) NEW! 8. First off I want to express how cool it is to find a forum for UScutter. This pretty much sealed the deal for me. I've seen alot of the cutters on ebay but didn't really know which one to go w/ and this forum is so helpful and the fact that Marcel and staff post on here really gave me the confidence to go ahead w/ the purchase. I tallied up the costs of all my decal'ing for my car stuff, jokes, computer, etc etc and decided to just purchase the unit myself so I can play around w/ it more to do more unique personalized decals w/o wasting somebodies time at the kiosks. From my brief research it seems the Copam 2500 is the way to go for my needs. I understand it will come w/ the signcut program but upon researching i saw another program aimed directly for the Copam - US PlotterCopam Software - Sign tools 3. is this an upgraded program? more capabilities more involved? Would I even need this for simple 1 color vinyl decals? Is there a package price for the program w/ the machine?
