static issues when its raining
SouthShoreDecal replied to SouthShoreDecal's topic in General discussion
so far an anti static mat has fixed my problem. -
The other day I was cutting some larger (for me) decals; 12" x 50" and i had some issues with static build up. The cutter (MH721) would sometimes just stop mid cut and other times it would reset or the display would go blank. The cutter is attached to a UPS and grounded to the stand but on a wall to wall rug. It was a fairly humid day and raining pretty heavily. I did some searches and many have not had their plotters grounded (mine is). some had usb issues. could this be a usb issue as it is the connection to the computer and static build up is some how corrupting it? I am thinking no since all of the issues seemed to be only with the plotter as evidenced by the display and head resets. But in anycase would a serial to usb adapter help this? What do others do? not on a carpet? an anti static mat under the plotter? not cut on rainy days? just curious as to what options I have here.

mine has been working fine on win7, started with the beta, then RC and now final ultimate. no problems here.

Help needed making this log cuttable.
SouthShoreDecal replied to dkeith75's topic in General discussion
it needs to be vectorized. you can use a vector drawing program to redraw it or you can try some of the auto-trace like options in the programs but you will lose some quality. -
some spray adhesive might be in order as a last resort if it is coming off. I would try to find out why it wont stick to begin with before trying different ways to make it stick. Otherwise you are chancing spending more money on it trying to get it to stick but are still not sure as to why it wont.

did you pre cut the holes for the windshield wiper fluid sprays or just install and cut around them at that time?

Cutter is not cutting consistenet with art
SouthShoreDecal replied to cutabove's topic in USCutter Refine Cutting Plotter Discussion
you should try to narrow it down a little more. is this just with text? a specific text? always on a curve in a certain direction? try a few different shapes, as symmetrical as possible and see if you can narrow it down. -
MH-721 cutter head will not drop
SouthShoreDecal replied to SouthShoreDecal's topic in USCutter Refine Cutting Plotter Support Requests
i had called tech support and it was determined that the mother board was bad and needed to be replaced... I then noticed that the little stand off clips that are supposed to hold the mother board off of the metal bottom plate were missing/broken. There was only one there. i fabed up some of my own and the cutter works just fine. it seems that due to those stand offs not being installed the board was shorting on the metal plate. now it is fine, I have solved the problem. I would suggest that tech support adds a step to their diagnostic procedures and asks if those clips are there and or makes an appropriate change in the manufacturing of the product to better stand offs / quality control to make sure the stand offs are there. -
MH-721 cutter head will not drop
SouthShoreDecal posted a topic in USCutter Refine Cutting Plotter Support Requests
I am having a problem with my MH-721. The cutter head does not drop. The machine will work for a few mins then i will have to turn off, unplug, and turn back on to get it to work for a few mins more. Once i align the vinyl and press the origin button the cutter head will drop, but some times it moves up and down a few times then will not drop at all. I have it plugged into a 3prong well grounded outlet and the grounding cable attached to the stand. please help, Thank you, ::Dennis -

grounding cable?
SouthShoreDecal replied to SouthShoreDecal's topic in USCutter Refine Cutting Plotter Discussion
I checked what came with my cutter, it is a mh721, and i did not receive a ground wire. This is no problem. what screw do i attach the wire to on the unit and where on the stand? i assume anywhere on the stand that i can get bare metal. -
grounding cable?
SouthShoreDecal replied to SouthShoreDecal's topic in USCutter Refine Cutting Plotter Discussion
i do not remember seeing a cable in the box, but i will recheck when i get home. thank you -
I know that grounding cables/three prong plug grounding is a common topic and cause for some problems. Where on the machine should a cable be attached to ground the cutter to the stand?
