  1. Just wondering if/when RSS feeds will be available on the new board. On the old boards I subscribed to 4-5 categories and then received the updates in my google reader account. With the new board, I don't see this option available. Thanks for any info.

Actual width of Oracal 651 24" Roll

I was wondering if someone that has a roll Oracal 651 (24") laying around could measure the width for me. I have heard differing reports that their 24" rolls are actually 25" wide. I have a job that must be exactly 24" tall so I'm trying to figure out if I can get away with a 24" roll or get a 30" roll and cut it down to fit in my cutter. Thanks!

Amazing.. I get my 4.3 firmware chip put in tonight and with the speed set at 50 it cuts at the same speed as the 4.5 chip at 50. The speed of 10 is really, really slow.. just what I needed. Problem solved for me anyway. I guess everyone else will have to pay for the "low speed features" of the 4.3 firmware like I did.

My chip should be here on Tuesday.. I'm excited to see if this "simple" fix makes the pcut perform like it should have when I purchased it 2 months ago. I was a little angry that I had to pay $25 ($15 chip + $10 shipping) to get this problem fixed, but I'll be able to pay for it with the first "small detail" job that I take. I just hope they get the issue resolved for all new cutters being sold.

Well.. Its been ~7 weeks since my first contact with the USCutter support staff about this issue. I have yet to hear any information about a resolution. I'm truly amazed that there are not more angry customers on this board complaining about cutting small details with a cutter that doesn't go below 50. I'm open to suggestions as to what to do at this point. My support ticket has been "closed" with no resolution other than "we are out of 4.3 firmware chips". Is it time for an Ebay sale? Does someone have a 4.3 firmware chip that they'd trade for a 4.5 firmware chip? Just sick of turning down jobs because I can't cut them.

Still no answer on this problem... :'( I did locate some info on creation's website as far as what speed to use for different sized characters... Seems to fall in line exactly with what I'm having problems with.. I'm having to cut things twice as fast as I'm supposed to because of this firmware issue.. following from: http://www.pcut-cn.com/enews/news_detail.php?newsid=66 6.3 Question: Why does zigzag happen to the cutter? Answer: As cutter PUCT motor features high power and speed, so the cutting speed shall be adjusted according to size of character. Generally, to cut small glossy characters with high requirement for precision, the speed shall not exceed 40. In most cases, the speed at the shift 50-60 is favorable. To cut big characters of large quantity within shortest time, the speed can be 70, 180, but since step distance of motor is so long that evident zigzag occur. Therefore, you should set the speed to specific size of characters, and the relationship between speed and size of characters please refer to following table: Size of font(mm)----SPEED <10----10-20 10-30----30 30-50----40-50 50-500----60 >500----70-80

It has been a couple of weeks since I've heard anything from the support staff at us cutter.. does anyone have an timing on a resolution to this problem? I still cannot cut anything with any fine detail or thin points.

The problem is that another support tech has told me that they are completely out of these older chips. He is trying to see if they can get more from the manufacturer. If for some reason they can't get any more I don't know what else they can / will do. I would imagine that there are going to be an increasing number of new owners in the same boat as I am when they find out their new cutter only has half of the speed settings available.. I'd be happy with just 10-40 instead of 50-80 if that were possible.

It appears that I'm having the same problem with the newer firmware chips not going down to 10. I cannot cut anything with very fine detail without the vinyl being torn. I contacted support and they said that they are having problems finding any of the 4.3 chips to swap with my 4.5. Hope someone can find them somewhere because my cutter is pretty much useless for what I need to do at the moment.
