SBE help needed with Tile and Weed setup

I actually read "Hour 6" - 4 times - yesterday and did every single thing. There is a section which shows "TILE" menu with various options and these are what I'd need to accomplish my task. However, all I have (and several other posts mention it as well)... is "Auto-tile" button, which doesn't do much. Perhaps, I should rephrase my question... Where is the "TILE" menu described in "Hour 6" of the "Guide"... (not "Auto-Tile")

That's what I was trying to figure out as well. Do you draw the rectangle in diff color and cut it as a separate cut from the image...? Thanks.

    Cutting Tiles

This part of the original question has not been answered. I ran into this today. Manual shows options for "tile" buttons but none exist in my version. I have the same issue. I'm trying to import, say, 10 different images (similar in size, not identical) and then cut all 10 at once, while having a separate weeding box around each. Like when making a stencil. When 10 images are imported and then sent to cutter... it treats all 10 images as one big tile... rather than 10 separates tiles. Is this possible in SBE? Also, is it possible to line up the tiles on the "cutter preview side". All I can do there is re-size the red and blue box. But not add boxes for weeding or reposition the images. Thank you.
  4. Hello; I've spent most of day and wasted a LOT of vinyl and can't figure it out. I'm sure it's a simple matter of correct setup. Attached image shows what I'm trying to do. If this is possible in SBE... Is there a way to import, say, 10 different images at once, rather than one at a time and then have SBE line them up (tile them) automatically for cutting? "Auto-tile doesn't seem to do anything as far as lining up 10 different images. Thank you for the help.

    Cutter cuts twice

Here is what just happened... I finished the design in Inkscape. Since I'm making a stencil for airbrushing, I'm leaving 1" around the entire design as a splash-guard. So when it gets cut, I will have a nice square stencil - 3" x 3"- with the design in the middle. To get that square with rounded corners, I used the rectangle tool -> drew the square -> selected the square -> "object to path" -> save as .eps -> import and cut with SBE aaaaaannnnnd.... it cuts the design just fine and the square it cut once, then went over it again and cut right thru the mylar AND the backing. Had it cut the square only once... it would have been perfect. When I used "stroke to path", it cut the square once around the outer edge, then the second time around the inner edge and effectively gave me a slightly smaller square. But it still cut the square twice. Only this time, it offset the path slightly. I JUST DON'T GET IT
  6. Some progress... If I reverse from the way I did it before and I turn OFF the "stroke" and turn ON the "fill"... it doesn't cut the line twice any more. BUT when I use the bezier curve to design with... it cuts those lines twice now. There is something about "lines" that makes it cut twice... ANY SUGGESTIONS?

    Cutter cuts twice

I'm having the same problem. Anything that has a "stroke" on it cuts twice. If I turn the stroke off and just leave the "fill" it cuts just fine. After the design is done, I make sure I "convert objects to path"... It's not the "double image on top of each other"... Any other suggestions?
  8. Just so I'm prepared then... When you guys say "dull blades awfully quick"... I'm getting ready to cut about 200 stencils on 7mil mylar and each is about 3" x 3". I just got 3 new 60deg blades. About 1/2 the job are fairly simple designs and the other 1/2 are very detailed. I've cut 3 detailed ones and they came out beautifully at 150g pressure. Do you think those 3 are enough to finish the job or should I order more?
  9. sorry, man... but it cracked me up... reading your post... And people uninstalling a complete program 'cause they can't do the circle... I'VE DONE THAT TOO... lol. I've spent HOURS with the $%@@& thing and all it was was both fill and stroke were set to "white". So... draw a circle and click one of the colors along the bottom. And there it is...
  10. Not sure if my problem is the image or cutter (MH-871) setup but the cutter cuts some areas twice and others properly - only once - to create the cut-out. Here is what I did: 1. Create stencil/image in Inkscape .....Since bezier curves are already a "path" nothing needs to be done. Right? Squares and Circles need the "object to path" command. Right? 2. Turn off "fill" and that leaves me with just "stroke" - the parts I want cut out. 3. Select entire image and do "object to path" 4. Group image 5. Save as eps 6. Import to SBE 7. Send to cutter -> and it cuts some lines once (like I want) and others it goes over twice... like as if it was cutting out a square - cuts once along the outer edge and then the inner edge of the square's lines. Any thoughts? Is it the image or the cutter setup? Thank you.
  11. Very clear now. Thank you all so much. Now, I must go mess with the 'force'
  12. OK.. So "playing with it" until you find the spot is the way to go. One last thing.. If I may... the last part of my post above: What is 'downforce'? (A) Is it the pressure (tightness) that pinch-rollers, which hold the material, press against the machine base in order to hold the material firmly in place? Or... ( Is it how hard the blade/holder push into the material while cutting? Thank you so much. I'm getting there
  13. See... That's where my confusion is. I've read in numerous threads where folks, when they go to thicker material, simply adjust the 'down force'. So, using the above example... going from 7mil @ 100 to 14mil @200... Will the 'force' adjustment be enough? Or do I have to pull the blade out a tiny bit more as well? The material is twice as thick. Others say you have to adjust the blade and leave the pressure like it is and yet others say you have to adjust both. Actually, at the risk of sounding completely ignorant (which I am in this regard), I will ask the question that no noob seems to want to ask... The basic of all basics in "cutter-world"... What is 'downforce'? (A) Is it the pressure (tightness) that pinch-rollers, which hold the material, press against the machine base in order to hold the material firmly in place? Or... ( Is it how hard the blade/holder push into the material while cutting? There... I said it.
  14. Just bought US Cutter MH-871. Looking to cut airbrush stencils using mylar. The general consensus seems to be using 100-120 cutting pressure. I cut several stencils out of 7mil mylar at 100 and it was a breeze. My cutter is rated for "500 g pressure". Logically then, I should be able to cut 10mil and even 14mil mylar with no problem... right? So how then, do you determine whether or not you're using the right amount of pressure? What exactly happens that notifies you that you need to adjust cutter pressure? Thank you
