  1. I've not had any experience with contour cutting in the past and have recently attempted to teach myself how to do this for simple stickers to add to my product packaging. I use Illustrator CS6 with the Cutting Master 3 plugin. Since I'm an extreme tightwad, I tried using my laser printer and pen attachment to get everything set up, but immediately ran into difficulties with either scanning the registration marks or cutting accurate paths on the cutter. There were numerous different error messages, depending upon what settings I began with, but the bottom line was that I was NOT having any consistent results, neither good nor bad. Then I decided to try switching to my inkjet printer, which I rarely use because it costs so much more per print (did I mention I'm a tightwad?)... and... VOILA! I discovered that the Graphtec apparently does not like laser prints for contour cutting. As I said, I'm a newbie to this arena, so I'm just wondering if this is a commonly known issue? I haven't seen it in my searches here or elsewhere, so any feedback would be greatly appreciated!
  2. Hmmm... I will definitely give that a try. Just have to find some, if I have it. The shiny stuff is cheaper, after all
  3. Hmmm... Yeah... I started with 1mm and went down to .5, then .3, which is apparently as low as I can go, but no love. I guess I will have to print with ink if I want to do this myself. It might be cheaper to outsource. Thanks for the input though!
  4. You are correct... The laser print is a bit shiny. I will try playing with the thickness to see what happens. Thanks for that!
  5. I am using my Graphtec CE6000-60 through the Cutting Master 3 extension for Illustrator CS5 and/or CS6 on iMac (OS X 10.11.6) and have begun to get small cuts with both on my Oracal 631 vinyl that should not be there. It is happening on just about every cut that I make, and appears to be basically the same "check mark" looking cut on all. I've been using this setup for several years and this has just recently started with no changes having been made to my settings. I have tried factory reset, adjusting force and speed, all to no avail. It's very small, but quite obvious when it happens to fall within the design portion of the vinyl. I am attaching an image and hoping that it shows up well enough. Right now my cutter settings are S10, F14, A2. Any suggestions, other than contacting Graphtec support, which takes forever? Anything would be greatly appreciated! Apologies in advance if I haven't included enough info :/
  6. @MZ SKEETER THANK YOU! THANK YOU! THANK YOU! That was exactly it. For anyone else that might have this problem in the future, I did note that my path on the cutter to the setting was a little bit different: Menu>1-Tool>Arrow Down to 4-Initial Blade and then set to Outside. This can also be set inside the Cutting Master 3 software: Cutters Tab>Tool Setting>Initial Blade Position. @darcshadow thanks so much... I've been cutting vinyl for long enough to know that is the first thing to check, so I just didn't think to mention it in my original post :)
