    Smoke shop!

Historic area in Anaheim job... I got $500 for this one, added color from behind for additional $150 about a week later, ORACAL 641 I got for $14 a roll was used. Got three free cigars while working on it (yeah kind of stretched the job over eight hours of mostly chatting) and some empty boxes for blades & such as well. This one led to three other jobs in the area because of this guys traffic and because of a city code sign violation next door. The owner of the building gave me $200 for an "emergency" removal from a window on a Sunday.

    "Etched" Glass

Here's a project I did using some really crappy eBay vinyl and a spray can of Valspar glass frosting I had lying around from when I made my 24"X 24" light box. Great way to get rid of the cheap vinyl I wouldn't give away in most cases and a plus to sell to customers that want the effect but rent their shop/building. Took about two hours total. RG BTW, the light box was a $24.00 project I'll be posting later...

Caught that huh? I was going to retire young; God bless her, wife had other ideas for me and my Porsche!?!?!? Now I drive the twelve year old Explorer everyone else learned to drive in... RG

    "Etched" Glass

I had that problem too on test areas and discovered that my towels had fabric softener/anti static on them right out of the bag; wash your cloths first and do a double rinse to get everything off. Then clean the glass with denatured alcohol (only thing I use) taking care to clean the areas surrounding the application area as well. These steps will ensure that everything from vinyl to paint will stick to the glass and you'll end up with a problem free instillation like mine. The stuff works (kids ages 22,16,5 & 3) and just about every one has touched it that sees it to see if it's etched on or painted, it looks as good as the day it was done five months and several cleanings ago. Liquor store sign.

Here's a 2 color I did in Whittier... got $575.00 for both (including the small parking sign), the next three jobs came via a new sign I put on the back of my truck... RG

    Truck Sign

Back of my Explorer I use for work, had a really nice simple two tone sign before this one for almost a year that got zero calls, jazzed it up a bit (a little too busy for my taste) with some R. Crumb type colors I had as scraps and now I get sometimes two calls a day. They don't all end up as business but it is a numbers game. I've done real estate and loans as a living for 15 years so this "slowdown" hurts, but sure are glad I purchased the plotter "for personal use" last year. I've always wanted one but I never realized I'd be paying my bills and buying food with it, I even moved the thing from the garage into my office so I could cut inside in the winter; with no complaint from my wife!?!?!? Really love getting outdoors too! RG

    Boat Shop

Boat shop with the sign that gets me calls and a couple of boats, the owner said I could put a "small sign" but ended up liking that I took over the whole window. Good thing, since it brings in a few boats a week for me and I've had no problem up selling a $60 name to a $200-$300 Name, CF# & Logo Update job. The boats get a 3M 94 primer treatment under (depending on price) some ORACAL 641 or 751. In my best interest I smeared the area where I placed the boat shops name, I did say I get lots of work!?!? RG

    Boat Shop

Hot tip; use the 3M #94 decal primer when ever possible to avoid the decals falling off. Runs about $20 a quart but that will last you about a year.

    Truck Sign

Like I said, tried plain and got very little response, with the "busy" scheme not only do I get lots of calls but the callers usually tell me to just "go ahead and design something them since it appears I'm more creative". So; I suppose the rules of simplicity work for the clients customers but not for the client it's self... make sense? It's not really my taste either but it's working! RG

    Smiley Face

Really cheap (& sticky) no name contact paper imported from China I got a year ago when I purchased the machine on eBay. I really love ORACAL stuff now myself... RG

    Smiley Face

When Watchmen came out I got some requests for more smileys like this one done at the same book store as Spidey for $200 but haven't gotten around to it yet. Done in 3 sections to make up 6'X6' in the same eBay vinyl, once it's all gone I vow to never order vinyl from eBay again! Though it's really cheap and sticks well indoors on pretty much anything it's a real pain to work with. RG

    Spidey

Just pulled the eps file off one of the logo sites listed in this forum, can't recall if it was bestbrandsoftheworld or logotypes101, lots of characters there. RG

    Spidey

Done with "e-Bay vinyl" at a book store in Whittier for $260, over 5' tall, had to make three freebie Spidey's for friends after this one. RG

    Bail Bonds

$280 window (interior), told me to pick the colors, font & layout and didn't want to bother with anything else but leaving me the key and paying me... need more nice guys like these! Did the back of their Yukons with "BAIL BONDS" & a phone number in light gray about two days later at my house (ORACAL 651 whole job) for $60.00 each. RG

    Insurance shop

Had to do a replacement of the owners stripe for $300 which was damaged over a weekend by kids he assumes, the material was ORACAL 651, the logo was done a couple weeks later for $40. RG

    Liquor store sign.

I was afraid I was a bit cheap, existing sign plexi (the contractor removed and reinstalled while he was doing some elect. work) and some ORACAL 651 ($14.00/roll) I had already. Large sigh was 12' and small was 4', cleaning was a breeze with my 700w gun, dish soap and scraper. RG
