Father day sale sign.....
sheepdog replied to Pappy's topic in Business Practices, Sales and Pricing, etc.
I didn't even think about father's day, so thanks for the tip. What is everyone thinking about the 4th of July. It's not far off. I missed Memorial day and the MIA/POW sticker that I have, so I'm trying to think in advance. Tryin to learn the business. -
Have a customer who wants a simple sign, "one acre lots for sale" in 5 inch block letters.(my first big sign) The sign will be almost 8 feet long and 5 inches high. He will install. Based on the info I've gotten from the forum based on sq in pricing the price would be (96"x5"=480 sq in.) The price list I got says that should be $34.00. If you use the basic banner price listit would be 18 letters x .80= $14.40. I realize that when you sell a banner you will mark it up but the .80 per letter is an installed price and I would think most of your profit would come from the banner. So what method would you guys use. (Almost all of my work has been vehicle stickers that I price by the sq in with no complaints.) This larger sign could lead to some more work but this is not the type work I really want plus I want to be fair in case I do decide to proceed with the larger work. Thanks for any advice you guys can give.

Proper way to price work
sheepdog replied to sheepdog's topic in Business Practices, Sales and Pricing, etc.
Thanks for the reply Ti. I went with $30.00 and the customer decided he wanted another one. Called a local place that has just set up and they wanted $25.00 but I'm not too sure if the guy that quoted the price was sure of what he was doing Thanks again. -
Look great to me. Really like the dog.

Thanks r2r. That should make my friend happy. And firemalt, I had already looked for it on brands of the world before I posted. I'll look again but I really don't think I overlooked it.

Can you tell me how well the walnut shells work? I had bought the air eraser from them but they don't sell any replacement abrasives for it and the only other thing that would work in the gun was glass beads. They didn't work very well. Thanks

How is your computer connected to the cutter? Sounds like the same problem I was having. I had tried to hook mine up with the serial cable because I have another cutter that was working and when USC helped me work thru mine we found the cutter had a problem with the serial port. Brandon helped hook it up for the USB setup and now it works like a charm. Hope this gives you something to work with.
