    Hello Everyone

Welcome! I also got into this as a hobby but already started making a few (And I mean very few ) Dollars making some decals for several buddies and their Internet groups. My best advice would be to buy some business card stock for your printer and print up some cards to hand out with contact info such as cell #, Website and email addy. I've passed several out sitting in traffic waiting at the light (I have decals on both sides and rear window of vehicle and it's like having a 'rolling catalog'). I usually get someone asking me where I got the decals and this is faster and easier than shouting out your cell # while the light turns green. I haven't made one of my website yet due to searching for a decent free hosting site. (Another reason I print out business cards as I need them.) Good luck and looking to hear good news from ya in the future.

I can't believe it's been almost a month since I got this machine and I've been having a blast! Aside from a few erratic incidents of cutter going banana's on me I've been watching some vids on BoobTube and attempted my first 2-layer decal with success! I won't say what this first attempt was due to Copyright but I will say red and white umbrella was a good choice due to the simplicity and small size. Now I just need to get the motivation to try using Signblazer and Inkscape instead of exclusively using SCALP. I may have failed to mention that the erratic behavior, even tho I have cutter grounded to stand with stranded speaker wire, was due to static charge buildup from having carpeted Mad Scientist Laboratory. I've overcome this problem by pointing a Negative Ion Generator at the vinyl and rollers from a distance of about 3 feet (I cannot use a humidifier since lab was an 'add-on' to the house and I rely on window unit for A/C). Ever since then I've had absolutely no 'Maximum Overdrive' effect and only experience the rare, odd cut that results in my 'speaking in tongues' and starting over. Aside from cleaning blade before any cut with rubbing alcohol and a paper towel the only other maintenance I've performed was to put a drop of sewing machine oil on the blunt end of the blade to enable it to spin more freely in the holder. I'm still using the first 45 Degree blade with success and give it an inspection each time under a magnifying lamp (Picked it up at Staples, 90 LED's and 3X magnifier. Makes weeding much easier). Just wanted to give everyone an update and also give Thanks for the warm welcome and priceless advice here and in other parts of the forum.

Thanks Kissfan. I realize those are copyrighted images. Good thing I gave them away instead of charging $ for them. My bartender got the Metallica logo tattooed across her shoulders last week and wanted a matching decal for her laptop. I gave it to her on Sunday, Mother's Day. She was thrilled and bought me a few shots of Jager to show her appreciation

Thanks for the Warm Welcome. The Starship Mazda needs replacing due the amount of rust from Detroit (My original Hometown). After posting pics from here on FaceBook I am happy to announce I got an offer to print a Metallica Logo for a friends laptop. seems like it's not much but I feel it's a Good Harbinger of Things To Come. My Humble Thanks once again as I dive into this world of Art.

Hello, I recieved my LaserPoint II 2 days ago and after having to skip a day I finally got it assembled, set up and connected with USB to Serial Adapter in addition to grounding the cutter to the stand. Everything went smoothly and after sacrificing some 'Bubble Gum' vinyl from the 12-pack to get pressure dialed in at 300 g I had to decide on a first project. Needless to say I listened to my Inner-Geek screaming 'Starfleet Logo!!' repeatedly and cut 4 at 2"X3" resetting the Origin point each time in order to save vinyl. I've never done any graphic design or related work but gotta give credit to this Forum and Google for showing me how to convert an image to .svg format and making this first project easier than I had originally dreaded. I spent quite a few hours (10+) reading up here on the forums while awaiting delivery I have to admit I am greatly impressed by the sense of Community and willingness of Members here to help and give advice, solutions and whatnot. Without doing this research and gaining valuable insight I feel I would be ripping my hair out after a week or so of frustration. I posted a few pics and will post more as I learn and my skill grows. This entire project was done with the enclosed (and updated) software Sure Cuts A Lot Pro 3 and I also downloaded SignBlazer and Inkscape to have more tools which I have a feeling I will need later on. Thanks for having me as a member as I look forward to this new endeavor.
