    Create before you ask?

"Give a man a fish, and he'll eat for a day. Teach a man to fish and he'll eat for a lifetime." Karma will sort out the freeloaders form those who truly seek to succeed.

  4. Anyone out there printing with Pigment ink? I got a Canon imageprograf 8200pg for next to nothing the other day and was wondering if it is good for anything besides taking up a huge chunk of office space. I was thinking about using it to make up some short run political yard signs by printing on vinyl and sticking it onto coroplast. Any suggestions as to what vinyl to use?

what was for first paying job

Mine was just dumb luck. I bought the cutter to cut templates for my Pottery business. A construction company asked me about making 75 license plates, DOT numbers, and Door decals for their fleet of vehicles. Needless to say this first job more than paid for my cutter, software, and all the supplies I'd bought up to that point. Good Karma....I guess.

    Large banners

I'm making some large banners to go across a busy street. The banners will be 3ft high by 48ft. long. I've done some of these before but had some trouble last year with a pair of 60ft banners that came down during a storm. I don't want that to happen again. My question is... what thickness of banner material is best for large banners like this. I usually use 16 or 18oz. material for large banners like this. However, I wonder if at some point the weight of the heavier material starts to work against me. Is it possible that lighter weight material should be used?

    Pigment Ink?

I bought a used Canon imagePROGRAF w8200pg recently. However, it did not come with ink. I bought some w8200 compatible ink for the printer but to my dismay it was dye ink. Does anyone have a Canon w8200pg, or know of a place to buy the pigment ink for it at a reasonable price?

    Vinyl Banners

All the time. I wouldn't recomend metallics (chrome, brushed aluminum, etc.) though. They tend to release from the banner after the customer unrolls it.

    Lighted sign cabinets

NGlantz sells Lexan in various colors I would recomend .177 thickness (less than $100 per sheet) or better for lightbox signs. Acrylic panfaces are the most durable but are much more pricey. You can also by clear Lexan or Plexi and cover the back with translucent vinyl but it is less expensive to buy the already colored Lexan.

    LED signage

How many of you are dealing LED signs, and who are your suppliers?
  14. Ok, ok let's see....... get magnets from the fridge, apply four small pieces of tape, align the vehicles suspension, adjust air pressure in each tire so the vehicle sits perfectly level, calibrate eyeballs, measure once/cut twice, then apply the vinyl wet or dry and it won't make a difference. Got it! Now i'm ready to apply vinyl.
