Pricing printed reflective vinyl
Jburns replied to hhsg's topic in Business Practices, Sales and Pricing, etc.
Also, if its a simple sign, and you have a cutter, you may be able to use ORACAL translucent 8500 film, on top of reflective film for the letters? I have never tried it, but I bet it may work http://www.uscutter.com/ORACAL-8500-Translucent-High-Performance-Vinyl-24-in-10-Yard-Roll -
Pricing printed reflective vinyl

I gotcha. You mean reflective like for emergency vehicles, or tow trucks. But for a full sign, that's not in my specialty - check with Dakota. I can just help with smaller items ( I don't have any to price, but would be 14 inches wide on 3M280i, then printed with transparent color on top). -
Pricing printed reflective vinyl

Hello, Yes - I can print on reflective ( mirror like) outdoor vinyl and contour cut. I have two types of mirror material - 2mil and 1 mil. Price really depends on the file, and number of colors since I use a thermal pigment printer. How many colors, is the file clean and print ready, and you need contour cutting? -
There is stuff on ebay - but quality may not be that great.

Holy cow man, I googled that and its a lot if vectors and images. I assume you are printing?

The link is in the third post down - in this thread

ask to see it in action - watch it laminate 12-24 inches of something close to max width while you are there. Look for webbing, etc in the result. Check the rollers carefully for cuts and gouges - both top and bottom.
-
you mention above the material is 210mils thick - is that really correct? I know guys that cut sandblast use: 1.CB15U blade - you have that - slow speed, sometimes multiple cuts on the same design 2. FC series 3. place two tables on either side of the plotter, so the material can slide on a flat surface- - if it really is 210mils, that can be very heavy for that machine to lift vertically IMO>
-
sounds good - - keep us posted on the results of the contour cuts. I would like to learn more about how that machine works with contour cutting and software workflow. I would suggest running it a few times slowly, without the blade to see if its cutting in the right places before actually cutting

welcome! For practice, I would just send a design using your software to a desktop inkjet printer ( indoor - short term use of course) . I would try papilio printable paper. ( I have never tried but intrigued). If you want outdoor longer lasting decals for cars etc, then its more expensive. Choices are Solvent, latex or thermal printers.

MH 721 A request for the USB device descriptor failed.
Jburns replied to Archer's topic in USCutter Refine Cutting Plotter Support Requests
do you have to download the driver for that cutter? or is it already supplied by vinlmaster when installed? -
Hello, Even the highest price cutters cant read crop marks on reflective. your best bet is to place an appropriate size square of application tape over the marks, and use a ruler to trace the marks onto the application tape.

Welcome from Highlands Ranch. Happy to help answer questions on the Gerber Software, I have owned several versions, and use the printers. If you are primarily using for stencils, and vinyl cutting its probably fine.

You aren't joking about a "big" project! Looks cool.

Welcome! I would ask do you want stickers / decals that are outdoor durable? Do you need photo quality images? do you need large format- like decals on vehicles?

Graphtec FC7000-75 Vinyl Cutter
Jburns replied to GV School's topic in GraphTec Cutting Plotter Support Requests
Man, I have seen that cutter for sale and I am tempted! I used to own the FC7000-100. But let me know if you decide to pass... I have attached an excerpt from the FC7000 repair manual for you, XY position error- its discontinued and I don't think they repair or make parts for FC7000 any longer. If its a gear or mechanical part, I bet its the same PN as the FC800 and FC8600's. XY Position Error FC7000.pdf -
probably a premium vinyl like Oracal 751- its very thin so yes it would "look" like paint bu you can feel it when touched

Looks good- I like the "antiqued" style finish.
