    M&M Characters anyone???

I thought I saw them awhile back on here, but cant find, I did do a search using various words but nothing. I went to brands of the world before looking here and came up with only one actual character, the rest are words. I even went to several font sites hoping to find a dingbat, zip. thanx for the suggestion though! Renee

    M&M Characters anyone???

LOL! Five you are a patient man! If I can figure out how to ship it to ya you can have it for free! Its been sitting on the shelf collecting dust! I'm not going to do anything with it at all! ( I'm NOT joking either! ) Thanx for the welcome back... Been a frustrating time, wanted to throw in the towel, cant find or keep good HELP, people want everything for nothing, I wasnt making any money because of all the vinyl I was wasting, I wasted alot of siser because my pcut was connected to a computer that did not have a serial port, so jobs froze up or they stopped cutting in the middle of a graphic OR my favorite, the cutter would suddenly go biserk and cut crazy thru the design. After many frustrating months of this, After the Christmas rush, I closed the doors to my shop and took a 3 month break ( of sorts) I would go in a few times a week and check things, had a leaky ceiling, had to fix, had a water leak in the bathroom had to fix, had a mouse die in one of the panneled walls of the office part, had to tear it out because good lawd it stunk to high heaven...lol! I've picked myself up by my flip-flop straps and jumped back in. I found my husbands ancient desk top computer and discovered it had a serial port in the back and thought hmmmm......wonder if this will work...well low and behold it did. My machine has not had 1 hiccup since hooking it up via serial! I've had alot of work with alot more on the books, I'm afraid I can't do it all myself so I'm going to have to solve the CAN'T GET GOOD HELP PROBLEM AND SOON! I've learned to say thanx but no thanx for the job when people come in and want me to design something from scratch for a SINGLE tshirt, uhmm...NO!! I will for 25 t shirts or 50 but not ONE! I have discovered that the less I want to work, the more work I have...lol. weird but true! I'm working a job right now for the sheriffs dept, 50 shirts and I want to go to the shop, crank up the music and do my work, As soon as I get in the groove, people are coming in to order more shirts or banners etc, not much cutting and pressing work being done...lol. My husband left for Afghanastan last week, I have a son already there, and another going in June....None are military though my husband is retired military, they are contractors working for the military. So with all that worry, and having to deal with the work and the home, still have a daughter at home, it's all been a bit much! I wish sometimes I could be 3 people! I am still going to get a new cutter,I think its going to be a roland though and then down the road get a graphtec as a back up. I've just purchased the Epson1100 printer from cobraink, cant wait to try that out. I need all the tax breaks I can get! Tired of giving my money to the govt! I sure have missed being here!
  3. I purchase all my siser thru Speciality Graphics, They are very careful with your shipping address must match the address you have listed for your billing address. If it doesnt, they request a copy of a bill ( electric or phone etc) to make sure your NAME is on it. They once sent me the WRONG vinyl, but was really quick in sending me the correct vinyl and I had gotten some bad florescent vinyl and they did replace it with a little extra thrown in for my troubles. They ship fast and are reasonable. Needless to say I'm happy with them. Renee

    Happy Holidays to all!

Hello everyone! Been awhile since I have been here, I sure have missed chatting and learning for you all! I have been swamped with work the past few months, shop has been open 7 days a week until 10pm most nights. The past few months are just a foggy memory now! LOL!! Up until I got super busy I was having FUN creating, cutting, sandblasting and heat pressing.....now it's not so FUN its more like REAL work! I had to force myself to take a day off last week to go Christmas shopping. Retail is no fun at all! I had a guy come in Monday before christmas wanting a lighted sign for his moms store.ARE U KIDDING ME??? He says no, I really need this by Christmas EVE! HAHA! Then he tells me he didnt mean to put any pressure on me etc. I replied with your NOT because it cant be done! At least by me! He had gone to three sign shops and decided they were too expensive and he wanted to RIG one with plexiglass and cheap vinyl. I told him I wasnt a sign shop first of all, second of all I didnt want anything to do with rigging it, thats my work out there! So needless to say I pissed off my best friends brother! LOL!! I've been using my pcut like crazy and wasting so much vinyl ive been stopping myself from throwing it in the street! over the past few months I believe I have wasted about 500.00 worth of tshirt vinyl. My pcut was connected to my computer via usb because I didnt have a serial port on my computer. Well one day I was rooting around in a closet at home and came across my husbands old desk top that has a serial port on it so decided to take it to the shop and load it. LOW and BEHOLD I have NOT wasted ANY vinyl since! The lesson I learned is to take EVERYONES advise, if your having any problems at all with SB freezing up or your pcut cutting a diagnal line thru your almost finished job, find a SERIAL port somewhere!! It solved ALL my pcut issues! While its been great since plugging into serial, I'm going to get a GRAPHTEC because I'm still not getting the smaller cuts I need. I havent been able to afford the graphtec yet though because as soon as i make some money, out it goes in sales tax, my helper, more supplies, rent, utilities etc...lol. I have also had leaking issues with all this rain we have had, and now plumbing issues...when it rains it pours! On this note I hope EVERYONE is/has had a GREAT holiday and I look forward to learning some more and chatting with you all! Renee

    First tile

Looks really good! Just to let you know, I made a few tiles back in the summer and displayed them in my shop window, one I had clear coated and the other one I did not. The one I clear coated peeled up like nobody's business and the other one didnt. They had been displayed in my front window that gets full sun for about 3 hours every day. Renee

    Sand Blasting Cabinets

LMAO!! You know, thats what I thought someone would say! I think I'm going to go with the stand unit as well, otherwise I will have to find some sort of stand to put it on! Dylan I didnt see one for 15.00...and at that price you still have to "pull it" into the backyard ok that makes sense! I got the stand alone model and I have to say I LOVE IT!! I have done a few beer mugs and wow, people are wanting them like crazy! The back yard solution wouldnt work for me as I have a shop in town. I'm using ao 70 grit and love the results. I do have a problem keeping the hose in the media though, anyone have a solution? I'm blasting away and the darn hose will shift and be sucking nothing but air! Renee I just pull the hose into the yard, the compressor stays in the garage, it is just a gun with a bottle on top, possibly 16-20 ounces. blast away & refill as needed, the sand goes into the flower bed.

    Sand Blasting Cabinets

I have a question for you sand blasting guru's! I'm looking at the cabinets Harbor Freight has and they all state NOT to use harsh abrasive media such as aluminum oxide. I have noticed that some of you DO in fact use that and get excellent results. So whats the deal with this stuff??? Will it ruin the cabinets or what? Why do they say not to use it?? I'm looking at the 250.00 cabinet ( on a stand) as well as the 139.00 cabinet with no stand Any info is appreciated! Renee

    Another beer mug

I'm going to dive in there TODAY! Went to Raleigh NC ( 1.5 hours away) to Harbor Freight and got my sand blasting cabinet, walnut shells, and 70- aluminum oxide. also got some weeding picks while I was there. I went ahead and got the cabinet on the stand because it was on sale for 219 ( 80.00 off the reg price). My experience in making this purchase was not the greatest but it didnt dampen my excitement..not one bit! I found the cabinet set up and I have to admit I was for a second a bit intimidated on how LARGE it was! The table top version was set up next to it and it appeared to be exactly the same as the one free standing. I stuck my hands in the gloves on both machines, opened the side door and peered inside, knocked on both cabinets, looked down in the glass window, stuck my hands in the gloves again, picked up the guns and chuckled to myself on how similar they are to my water hose guns. there was a difference in the guns on each cabinet. Also I noticed that the free standing cabinet would be easier to clean out then the one that sits on a table. I was doubly excited to see the free standing cabinet was ON SALE, it didnt say that online at all. I finally tracked down a floor person and with alot of animation I'm sure stated to him I wanted to BUY the cabinet. He looked at me dead pan and said ok. I then asked him if there was anything else I needed to buy for it, he said ( dead-pan) I dont know. I said well, I plan to do glass etching and I know he was dying to say SO? but instead he said ( slowly like he was talking to a retarded person) OooooooooooooooooK. He then said finish your shopping I will meet you up front. I finished my shopping and went up front to pay, there was my new cabinet in a huge box sitting on a cart. I paid and then had to ask if I could get some help getting it on my truck. the cashier said ok and paged someone. Same guy that " helped" me make the purchase comes up front and he is the lucky winner! LOL! off we go out to the parking lot. My chevy colorado truck has got a soft top on the bed, he says your going to have to remove that. So I tried to remove it, the latch is stuck and I cant get it off to roll it back so we are both just standing there. At this point I'm thinking, going to have to remove the cabinet from the box and put it in the back of the truck in pieces. Mr Dead-Pan finally starts wrestling with the latch holding my cover on and OMG! He got dirt on his hands! He looked at his hands with disgust and gave me the dirtiest look! to his credit he finally got the latch to release and heaved the box up on to my truck and secured it. I smiled very sweetly, well as sweetly as I could and said THANK YOU!! I then left there and headed over to Dollar Tree to get some glass mugs and beer glasses, and candle holders. I spent around 50.00 so you know my casrt was overflowing with glass wear..LOL! I wont go into the boring details of my glass purchase , but I will say I asked the cashier if she had a brother working at Harbor Freight! I just don't understand why people are not as excited as I am about my new venture...<sigh> oh well! LOL!! Hmmm...now to go to the shop and put this monster together! LOL!! I hope to get my first etched glass done today! Renee

    wrinkling after washing!!!!

I may be doing this all wrong but I dont pre wash any of the shirts I sell. I order mostly gildan brand and the only thing I do to them is pre press before I put the design on them. I would be washing and drying all the time if I had to do that! I'm not really sure why anyone would wash the shirts before selling them, I'm pretty sure other stores do not do that and if something is prewashed there is usually a label on the pants/ shirt that states its been prewashed. Is everyone who is doing shirts always prewash them before selling? I'm just curious because no matter what, I'm not washing all the shirts I sell BEFORE I sell them...LOL!!! Everything hanging in my store would be a wrinkled mess if I washed and dried everything unless of course I ironed it too! LOL!!

    Garbage

I know what you mean Chef! Drives me crazy how the backing from the heat press vinyl is so sticky! When I pull the sheet off the design I usually stick it on the counter edge until I have a small collection then I grab it and try and fold it all up so its not so sticky. The way it sticks to to the trash bags just drives me insane! I also have tried an empty box. I dont think there really is a great solution for this! LOL!! Renee

    Another beer mug

Great work Kenya! I'm going to get my cabinet this week, so excited! I'm getting a little tired of doing clothing! LOL!! What media are you using to get such a great etch on the mugs? Don, have you thought about doing tshirts and hoodies and such? I do some banners, yard signs but the bulk of my business is clothing. I really have no interest in doing signs, there is a really good sign shop in the next town over, he has been there for a good 10 yrs. He really is good and I have no desire to try and get into that part of it, I found my niche within the vinyl industry in the clothing side but I am willing to branch out into the sand blasting side! No one does that around here!

Wow! you had over 4,000 pieces of glass at the show and no one bought anything?? Was it horse related stuff??? Was it a big horse show??? I've been to a few horse shows and people love buying that kind of stuff around here. you got a heat press? maybe you need to bring HALF the glassware and half in tshirts and hoodies??? Gosh Don, I'm sorry to hear that. How is that seven thousand dollar ( I think thats how much you said you paid for it) puppy you bought last month? Not a billionaire here, in fact not a thousandaire either! LOL
