    Just a rough guesstimate please...

Well I have been charging $100 installed and have been accused of being to expensive. For the time I have invested assembling, material, and installing I think I am pretty good.
  2. I know it's hard to price anything without knowing exacts but what do you usually charge for truck door signs? Three color (brimstone yellow, brilliant blue, and chrome) assembled and ready to install roughly 18" X 30". Price if you install and if you allow customer would be awesome as well. Been mumbled that I am too expensive and would like some range to go by.
  3. Alright so I am running windows 10 and I had to do a clean install. The version of SBE that I downloaded and installed is the UK non trial. I am running my MH871 serial, same as I always have. But now after I cut the cutter returns to the home starting position. Not a terrible thing if I am doing small cuts but I would suspect that it would become a bigger problem when its rolling a large cut back to start. I have tried unchecking the box and making a cut, rechecking the box and making a cut, and changing from the default .25 to .3 just to see if it would register and work. Nope. I did not install any drivers and I know I used to have a Refine cutter selected from the drop down but in this version they are not available. Any ideas? Plus as long as your here... I have been experiencing more and more as of late that cutter is not finishing the cuts all the way or at least they are not connecting at the end of the stroke. This then always leaves me with tiny little sections that need to be razor bladed before I can weed them out. Still looks sloppy though. Is this due to dull blades or is it just my cutter is kinda crappy. I know its not an expensive unit but I have had great use from the machine. Thanks for any and all help

Bit the Bullet and bought a new desktop pc.

I don't know why everyone hates windows 8.1 so much. Windows 8 was a pain in the arse but I really enjoy the 8.1 update. I really like that you can hit the tiles screen and just start typing for what you want and bam there it is in the side bar. I will agree that the tiles screen is a big waste because I never use it. Boots straight to the desktop. Only time for tiles is when I am searching.

Need some help on 4x8 aluminum sheets!!

I have never worked with the composite panels before. Thats kinda why I'm asking about what may be recommended by others. I just don't want to put something up that could be worn out in 4 years. But I am still curious as to thickness recommendations on aluminum panels.

Need some help on 4x8 aluminum sheets!!

The only thing wrong with that is the expected life. 5+ years depending on weather conditions. So far this past year we have had -10 to 110 degrees. I would guess I would fall into the category of diminishing life span. A solid aluminum panel is there until it falls off. Plus there really isn't too much of a price difference when you look at .040 thickness. But is .040 thick enough for what I would need? As long as its screwed to the trailer well enough what does the thickness really matter?
  7. I need to order some white powdercoated 4x8 aluminum sheets to mount onto the side of a semi trailer. A company has purchased the old trailer and needs to have the old painted logos covered and new logos done. Is there anywhere that you guys can recommend to order this from? And what thickness do you think that I will need? This trailer is not going to be spending everyday out on the highways. It is mainly going to be used as storage on job sites (and advertising lol).
  8. So I am looking through my old Fellers catalog (cause it was the first one I could find after the move) and they had a listing for heavy duty powder coated yard signs for like $13 each. When I search the new catalog online I do not see them anymore. I was approached by a tree company to do some yard signs and he had some old signs that he showed me that he would like the new ones to look like. It looks like the same thing as was in the Fellers catalog but instead of wrapping a banner over both sides they put in a sheet of powder coated aluminum. He wants the same kind of sign cause they can receive some abuse by falling debris, weather, handling, and other crazy things that he was telling me. Any ideas where to pick some of these up? Or other ideas. It seems like the condition of "heavy duty" anymore is by how much plastic there is. Thanks

Decal not sticking to paint! Help

I got the whole graphic up but sections of it peel right down off the wall. Even without transfer tape the darn thing peels right off. I am using regular transfer tape. I have done stuff other places without issue. I think it's the paint that the location used. They are willing to repaint I think but I don't know what to tell them to use.
  10. I am having an issue with a location that wanted a lare wall decal done. during the install process the transfer paper was pulling the vinyl right off the wall. I used 631 but it just will not stick. The walls are not freshly painted. I even tried 651 to see if the extra adhesion would help. Is there anything I can do? I have thought about spraying the back with the glue from a can. What kind of paint works the best for walls to help the vinyl stick.
  11. Where do you purchase large metal blanks? I have a customer who wants a new sign on his building. His previous one was coroplast and the wind was able to yank if off the building during the last storm. I am guessing that I need like a 4x8 to 4x10 sheet. Is there anywhere that has a prefinished white blank?

    Clearcoating over vinyl

I was contacted by a customer to do some graphics for a motorcycle. The customer does not want to feel the vinyl after installation so he wants to clear over the top after the install. Is there going to be any issues by doing so? Is there a problem if the vinly not acting properly under the clear coat? Any peeling, lifting or covering of the clearcoat that you know of? I would use the vinyl as a template for someone to paint but the customer wants to use chrome vinyl. Any advice would be great.

    Please help... vinyl won't stick

Well I did the two sided tape. It is a more aggressive tack then the 631. I stopped in there today and it was holding still. It was a pain the arse though to put in on every tip of the stars and in every turn of the out lines. I took almost another 4 hours last night to put it all under the vinyl. I never got started til after 9 so getting home at 1:30 was not fun.
  14. Thia weekend I installed a large design on a wall in a dance studio. I had a heck of a time getting the vinyl to stick then. I removed what I could and cleaned the walls really well with the alcohol water mix. That made the vinyl stick better and I was able to get it all up. The customer called and said that some of it was looking like it was going to fall today. I applied 631 and it was all new, to me at least, as of friday. Is there something that I can do to remedy this? I am thinking of going and getting two sided tape and see if that will adhere to the wall and line the back of the design with it where I can to make it stay up. Do you have any ideas?

Having a really bad day now....

Well I got my serial card in and working. Had some issues with COM ports though. The system installed it as COM 9 and SignBlazer only gave me the option of using up to COM 8. Got that resolved (at least the plotter is working... don't know what isn't yet). I haven't had a chance to cut anything large yet so I guess time will tell. I did see that my software was already set to hardware flow control.
