got a little smudge but for my first try, i am happy. this is for my son and now he has other members wanting. any idea on charges ? Gotta figure my cost first. I scanned his t shirt for the emblem so may not be the crispest but i like it. I don't know where to get an original.

    trailor hitch covers.

i haven't bought the spray yet. I did tape it but i guess it smudged while taking the tape off. So, does the substrate need to cool so that it won't smudge. ?

    My first sub slate

sub @ 400 degrees @ 8.5-9 min. I did have some paper stick to the slate but got it off with water and a light scrapeing with straight edge.

    My first sub slate

those look great mr300s. I didn't think the prices were too bad but was curious about glossing them myself. Someone on here had started that but decided to just buy predone. Gonna go try to find the thread.

    My first sub slate

Dakota, I did use paper above and below the slate . Paper between the slate and mat also. OW, the paper is a roll of white craft paper I bought somewhere. Pretty thick stuff. Also the texture on the rubber mat cannot be felt. It is between 2 smooth surfaces.

    My first sub slate

OW, I had read where someone used a rubber mat from the cooking sections for ovens so that is what i bought. I won't use it again tho because it left a slight shadow of the texture inside the mat. see pic. BUT that is NOT over the whole slate. I am wondering if the pressure on the press is greater at the back since that is where i see it. I will have to get the green mat i suppose. Also there is what looks like burn marks. Since i had a pc of paper on both sides for blowout i assumed it wasn't ink. thoughts ?

    Anti Static Kit

this is awesome info. I too am getting a shock when touching my cutter but before buying decided to come here and check it out. SO- the cutter gains static while cutting the vinyl ? that is why the string would touch the vinyl. HHMM. I like the dryer sheet idea. I do have it grounded to the stand having followed the instructions when I bought it but now I also do as suggested and touch something else before touching my cutter. This is what causes the board to fry - correct ? I am so afraid of that happening. Any more tips available?

    Taking the plunge

i sure wished i had read about the possible 10% before i ordered Monday. I just ordered my ink and license plates and mouse pads. But he did suggest the refillables as opposed to the CISS since i am just starting and don't know if i will use enough to keep from drying out. I am so ready to play with it.

    cutting mats

i have used my cricut mat with my SC cutter. Yes, i had to adjust my blade to accomodate and dial back on the pressure. I had to play with it to get it right.

hey Jaybird, if you can print from Ink for Sub can i also print from SCAL? I was just reading on Coastal that you must print from PS or Corel ? Why would they say that if it is not true ? I do not have any fancy photo programs so i needed to ask.. From the website: Preparing your artwork: The heart of your design is the image. You can create original artwork, customize scanned clip art, use ready-made designs or even utilize photographs from your digital camera. Though you can create your design in any design program, you must print it from Adobe Photoshop, Adobe Photoshop Elements or CorelDraw.
