  1. I had mine masked but recently re-taped it with electrical tape so it looks better. For cutting I advance the cut area of the vinyl just below the whole bed, cutting groove and all. Then I use a utility knife and slide it along the bottom. If you watch this video to the 2:45 mark you can see what I'm talking about for the cutting edge. http://video.google.com/googleplayer.swf?docid=4573603893633444706&hl=en&fs=true

    Another mailbox Tony Stewart

Another good looking box. How long have you had the ShineRite vinyl out in the sun? Just wondering how it holds up cause I just bought some to try.

    ShineRite on Ebay

Hope you guys aren't asking me about longevity, I'm a newbie. I read some people saying they used and liked the product in the "show your work" section. I read wehre one person said they thought it felt brittle but the stuff I got was anything but. It's kinda rubbery feeling to me.

    Static Cling

So much for my bragging. Both my numbers blew off on the way to the track this morning. The SM panels stayed on but I guess I didn't have the large circles down good nuff over the door crease and I reckon the air got underneath them there. As cool as the large ones looked I think I'll do the next pair smaller so it doesn't have to conform to that body crease.

    what skin do you use?

Only change I've made is to dock my tool bar on top. Every now and then I find a tool I want more accessible so I'll right click and drag that tool to a position so I don't have to scroll to it.

    ShineRite on Ebay

Yeah my order came with a hand written personal note thanking me for the order and she even threw in a free squeegee. Her profile pic is a little scary though. I don't usually give a seller feedback before they leave it for me but I'm considering making an exception for this chic. I don't get why sellers think they deserve feedback first when the buyer clearly completes their obligation first. Out of a 100+ ebay transactions I have a feedback of 16 because I flat refuse to give feedback first. Come to think about it I won't abandon my personal feedback policy no matter how good the sale was.

    signblazer software problem

I just put the 6.0.24 update in the other day and had no problems. US Cutter software support page is here: http://support.uscutter.com/index.php?_m=downloads&_a=view&parentcategoryid=4&pcid=0&nav=0

    Black and white eps

In the cut screen it will probably have two color choices in the left pane with one selected. You can either change the selection to cut the black or white or you can hold down the shift key and select both black and white to cut. Use your pen and draw it on paper first to see what happens.

Need HELP with finding different items to download?

I'm a beginner rookie myself but here is what I've learned so far about cutting images in SBE. Defined line EPS images work best but you can convert any image with SBE to try. Under File click on Import. Browse to the image you want to cut, select it, and click OK. Select the image and resize it to the finished size you want. Under Image move to Mode then over to click on Monochrome 1 bit. A window will pop up that reads "Convert to Monochrome 1 bit". Click on OK. Then go back to image on the menu bar and click on vectorise. Another window will pop up. Click on OK. Don't change any settings in these popup windows, just choose OK. The Monochrome, Vectorised image will now be displayed. It will actually have the converted image duplicated and selected. If you hit the delete button it should remove the original image so you just have a single image on screen. At this point it should cut. If the image looks like you want you can also go to File and export it as an EPS file or you can just save it as a SBE file. Saving it as an SBE file is best. Sometimes the exported EPS file doesn't show back up. The above steps will make a pretty radical change to the image you started with if it was anything other than a clean EPS file. Some will cut right and a lot more won't. The best test is to size the finished work to fit on paper and use your pen to draw it. That will reveal whether or not it will cut clean or have lines you don't want. After you get it to draw like you want then you can size it to your work space and cut it. To give you an idea of how bad it changes some images I copied this bat image off the net and converted it while I wrote this. Here is the original image: And here is a scan of the converted and drawn image: As you can see the results are not always desirable. Hope to learn how to make images more clear as I try different things. I fooled around with this one some more today and got it a little better but not enough to bother posting.

    signblazer software problem

Only problem I had with the download version is it had a counter on how many times I opened it in demo mode. I guess that would have been indefinite but it took longer and longer for the program to open. I went to the SBE for US Cutter version that came with my cutter and it does not have the demo counter so it takes the same time to open every time. The patch supposedly stops it from creating the .PVW files. Before I loaded the patch I created a SBE folder on my files HD and moved all images I wanted to use there. The .PVW problem is any time you tried to open or import an image from a folder with images it created a PVW file for every image in that directory. Keeping all the sign images in one folder at least kept it from creating the PVW files all over my system.

Tried that and didn't turn up that shark you used. If it's not to much trouble please post it. Thanks!

    Us cutter

lol how do you know... Cuz I wasted a butt load of vinyl before I learned to downsize and draw stuff before I cut a large job that didn't work. Especially trying to do images.

    1st and 2nd banners

Both of em look great! Mind sharing the sharks?

    Us cutter

If your unit came with a pen you can load that and draw on paper to test it. You will find that saves some vinyl during the learning process too. (ask me how I know)

Cool stuff! Did you air brush the scarf on the decal? Looks like the red is shaded.

    SBE won't open installed fonts

I had the same thing happen with a font the other night. It wasn't a full featured TTF but MS word, Amp Font Veiwer, and every program I tried it with could load it except SBE. Fortunately I found a similer font under a different name to use.

    can't load update

I knew about all that other stuff. My fix for the .pvw files was to make sure and keep all my SBE stuff in one folder. That way I'm not looking around on the HD and creating those suckers all over. What I was talking about is the SBE download has a counter that you have to wait on each time you start it in trial mode saying "you have used SBE in trial mode xx times". It takes it longer and longer since it adds a number to each time you open the program. the SBE for US Cutter does NOT have the counter and I wanted to make sure the patch didn't make it return. Thanks for the explanation of what the patch does though.

    can't load update

I'm not running the patch or update. If I load it does it go back to counting the number of times I use it in demo mode? I was using the download from SignBlazer and it did that count thing that got longer and longer to wait on. After I uninstalled that and loaded the version that came with my cutter it quit doing the count thang.

cutter hitting the left RED BUTTON

Not sure on other brands but I recently figured out the solution to this problem on my 24" P-Cut. I removed the silver roll guides and slid the vinyl roll all the way to my right as I face the machine. I set the cutter to start right at the edge of the vinyl since it moves a little left before it starts to cut. This way you can cut all the way from one edge to the other or over if your not careful. I also have it set for NO WEEDING CUT. If you watch this video I did recently you can see where I have the vinyl lined up. This project was cutting decals that were 7 5/8" wide and three across with 1/2" space between them. This left less than 1/8" at either edge. http://video.google.com/videoplay?docid=4573603893633444706 If you want to do something longer you can change the cut direction to run lengthwise instead of side to side.

Anybody heard of Mate brand vinyl?

Anybody heard of Mate brand vinyl? I questioned a ebay seller and that is the brand name they gave me.
