    Tape for roll ends

Hey Dakota, I bought a role of 1" r-tape just for the reason you mentioned. If memory serves me right I think it was like $3. I have been using it for 3 years now just to tape the ends of rolls, and I still have 3/4 of a roll left.

    customer service

Thanks Levi, sorry for the rant. I will send you a pm later this evening when I have a chance. I am not sure if I can find my account information to log on, and upgrade, but I will deal with that later. I guess I should have asked the question here first before airing dirty laundry in the forum. Rob

    customer service

I did contact US Cutter directly, and to answer you question, I do plan on using Cutting Master, but signcutx2 does a better for adding registration marks for tiling larger pieces of vinyl.

    customer service

Is anyone else having any issues with US Cutters customer service. A couple of weeks ago I ordered an new Graphtec cutter from them. The cutter is very nice, but I would really like to us signcutX2 with it. Because of an usb issue with my refine a couple of months back, I installed it on two different computers, and used up my limit on computers it can be used on, even though it is a lifetime subscription (I believe). I don't have an issue with purchasing another copy of it along with the proper driver for the Graphtec, but no one will get back to me. They didn't have an issue taking my $1400 a couple of weeks ago, but I find it very frustrating that they wont answer a simple question. I am beginning to think that the money I saved with US Cutter was not worth their lack of customer support.

    license issues

Kimon I need to try something different with my license on sign cut. My issues continue to build and I tried to log in as a customer to get the update, but it would not take my e-mail address or my license number. At this point I am willing to pay the $60 to upgrade to pro, but it has to happen quickly, as I have a big job to finish by this weekend, or I will have to sub it out to someone with a cutter that works. Please contact me as soon as you can. Regards Rob

    Copam and USB

Thanks again Dakota I took my old pc to a guy in town, and he thinks he can fix it. I will know by this weekend if he can or not. For the time being I will run my refine and finish the jobs I have on the books. They are mostly short runs and I should be able to function through them. I am about 99% sure there will be a new copam in my shop within a month or two, what cables I hook it up with is the only question. I will let you know if I need a pc. Rob

Thanks Dakotagrafx I may be interested in a machine if the price is right. I am going to look at getting my other pc fixed first.

    Copam and USB

Thanks Guys I am just having a hard time with all the issues I have been having with my Refine. It has been a good cutter, but it has been very frustrating trying to cut anything over 60 inches. Short items cut perfect every time, but long runs always takes some caressing and praying, and if I am going to spend $800 on a Copam that does the same thing, I am just as well off to put it towards an even better cutter that does not carry the drama with it. It appears that serial ports are on their way to becoming obsolete and these cutters should be able to function properly no matter how you connect them to your computer. I know that USCutter does not build these machines but perhaps putting some pressure on those that do will help get some of these issues resolved. I have to believe that there may be issues with software and drivers too, not just the cutters. I find it somewhat irritating that the only answer anyone has is " use a serial port" if they do not work with a USB why even put them on the cutter. Forgive me if it seems i am throwing stones here, I understand there is not much USCutter can do about it. I guess I just have to vent somewhere. No matter what cutter I decide to get, this is a great forum with great people on it. I have learned a lot from it, keep up the good work. Rob
  9. I am currently running a Refine 721. but recently had to replace my pc. I did not have the option at the time to get one with a serial port in it, so I am left with using the USB port, and all the issues that come along with it. I am thinking about getting a new copam, but only if I do not have to fight with the USB cable. I understand that there will be a learning curve, and I am cool with that, but the Refine has become trouble than what it is worth trying to get the USB to work properly. I guess my question is, will the Copam do long cuts without freezing up and giving me random cuts by running it off a USB port. Thanks in advance for any help you may be able to give me. Rob

    Random cuts AGAIN !!!!!!!!!

I have just been messing around with some large graphics( I have a police car coming in this weekend) and I am getting random cuts. After reading every single post on this subject and learning that there has not been one single person that gotten a concrete solution to this problem, I would like to know why more isn't being done by Signcut2 and US Cutter to resolve this issue. Static electricity is not the problem in this case, and here is how I know that . In Signcut X2 if the graphics are larger than 70" long i get the random cuts. The cutter head travels the complete distance of the cutter and bottoms out on each end making a loud racket as it tries to cut 100" wide on a 25" refine. When I reduce the size to under 60" graphic it cuts flawlessly. Oh, and by the way, I am not running any vinyl through and the knife holder has been removed so there can be absolutely no static build up from one size to the other. I love my refine, and it has paid for itself many times over, but that doesn't do me any good when I need to get this job done over the weekend. It is true I am running USB, but I have no choice in that, with my last computer I ran Serial and had the exact same issues. My machine and my cutter are both grounded back to an electrical box as well. Any insight on this issue would be a huge help as I am out of time, and I will not look real good if I have to have my competitor cut the vinyl for me. Regards Rob Heisinger
