  1. FM ...Sorry, I don't have Illustrator - only DRAW.  ...but Flexi (I only have Starter..) will load an EPS file but does not see it when comes time to cut.

H-G:  Iz'nt DRAW always vectors?  In the menu the only thing I can see is "Convert to Bitmap" .. There is no "make it Vector" or other action that I can see.

You can 'save as' two specific brands of vector files: Scalable Vector Graphics and Frame Vector Metafile  .. but Flexi will not import either of these .. whereas it will the three others ...'just won't present them to the cutter?!

..... half hour later, I've loaded FREEHAND MX .. I've imported the .tif image I made in Photoshop into FH and will export it as...? There's nothing that says; 'Vector' ... so I'll try the eps that has been mentioned before. (choice of generic or Mac - 'generic')

No Go ... same "No cuttable ....selected"

Don't you have HELP and HELP TOPICS?   Here is a tutorial for vectorizing.  In Corel it is called Powertrace

    http://www.corel.com/content/pdf/cgsx3/tutorials/dr_4.pdf

  2. better vector software is  www.inkscape.org.  FREE software  there is a whole thread  for inkscape in the forum and several videos,  look at the top of the thread for the darker blue lettering.

  3.  Have you vectorized the file in Corel Draw? I don't use Corel Draw. But in Corel Draw, can't you SAVE AS an .eps file,   the design, to your documents folder?  Then import that (.eps) into Flexistarter?    I have been using Flexistarters for 4 years and no problems.  I also don't set any workspace when I import, It is always on Architecture D  and my designs scaled up are larger than 24" x 36"  ...  I import most all my designs from my documents folder. or from cds.  No problems.

  4. Arggggg...  I open New .. set size .. Import either an .ai or .cmx file I made in DRAW .. I 'group' it .. center/center it .. but when I go to cut, I get the NCS..  it shows my original window size in Production Mgr, but not my image?

I had taken the original image (simple B/W, solid, .tif) into DRAW and 'save as' ... and tried both flavors mentioned above.

The work flow seems similar to when do Flexi for lettering.    Is there something simple I'm missing .. does it have to be converted from a solid to an outline in DRAW? (the lettering in Flexi appears solid..)   Sorry to bother with these tedious questions.

in Flexistarter in the FILL/STROKE EDITOR BOX there is a dropdown box,, that should be SOLID FILL,  then A BOX will appear.   CHECK the box FOR WIREFRAME.  That will give you outlines. Your cutter will then cut the outlines that are showing.

  5. I have the 30" FC7000.  I run my force at 13 for black and white  14-15 for colors,  Speed normally at 5  for most any large graphic.  Speed 2-3 for lettering .  I'm in no hurry and want it right the first time.    I use the Graphtec Cutting Controller  on option 9  and adjust everything force/speed  from my computer.  I just use the Graphtec blades.  I am not out of them yet.  I have several.

  6. Thats it.......... cool, wonder if it is quality enough for me to vector, I'll try it.

Thanks alot..................... did you google that?? I came up with nothing, or brands of the world nothing. Ski-doo is everyplace to find, but no moto-ski. I'll send it to photoshop and grey scale it and see what I get to vector it afterwards.

    Terry

I don't use google.  I use  www.dogpile.com   which is numerous search engines combined,  finds a whole lot more.  I found several sites with moto-ski logos on it.  This was the largest.  And there are other moto-ski logos which are different than this.

  7. I have been selling vehicle graphics on Ebay for 4 years now.  mostly fullside vehicle graphics.  This is how I make my living.  Average price $55-85.00 per set. Left and right.

I've been considering that, but would prefer to have experience doing it myself before selling it RTA.

What vinyl do you use?  Oracal 751/951?

Yah, I have been wanting to get involved with these as well but wasn't really sure what the standard size was to fit most cars/trucks. Do you have to know the size of each make and model or do you have the size that will work on all?

I list a standard size,  customers can also request  special order for anything. I give them a price quote for their item.

  8. Well the machine I had was entry level to mid level and served its purpose for nearly 2 years, prior to that I had a gerber which was awesome but it was older but still outpreformed this one but it finally lost its battle and went to the used equipment graveyard! :-

The machine I had when I got it SUCKED as do most entry level units but since I have fixed all issues (biggest one being the static) it has cut like a dream.  It is still like new but I do way too much not to have a PRO model!  Doing large production jobs is what I cannot wait for.  In fact I have given a lot of thought to re-opening a furniture design shop to go with my glass business and really kick butt on the designers.

With this new machine doing detailed long repeat pattens will be no issue.  What do you think???

did you get your cutter today?

  9. Where it says Signblazer,  pretend it says  Flexi

    USB

If you need to install your cutter through the USB port, you will need to install the USB drivers. USB drivers are available on our support site under Downloads, then MH/Refine Series Downloads. The USB driver is the very top selection, simply click on it and run it. It will self-install and when finished tell you that "FTDI drivers have been successfully installed." Once the drivers are installed, you can plug your USB cable in to the computer and Windows should tell you that "new hardware is found" and then "your hardware is installed and ready to use." You then need to check your device manager under the ports category to see which COM port the USB installed to (usually COM3 or COM4). Once you find out which port it installed to, you can then tell SignBlazer which port it is using and select the correct Device.
