from USCUTTER.com support Vectorising in Inkscape Posted by Levi Hartzog on 16 January 2009 02:31 PM This walk through explains the basics of vectorising in Inkscape. Step 1) Import your image. Click File>Import, find your file and click OK. Step 2) Select the image, go to the top of the screen, click Path>Trace Bitmap. Step 3) The Trace Bitmap menu will then open. Here you can select how you want your image vectorised and adjust the settings. You can also generate a preview. Once you are happy with the preview click OK and close the Trace Bitmap screen. Step 4) Now you will have your new vector image and the old raster (bitmap, jpeg, gif etc) image stacked on top of each other. Seperate the two and delete the raster. Step 5) Play around with your new vector image!

I imported the file, and it is not vectorized,, traced, you will have to vectorize the bitmap again..

Is the vinyl moving? Do you have over 2 ft of vinyl loose/slack from the roll so that it does not pull on a 50yrd roll? You should never be pulling directly from the roll while cutting, There should be more than enough vinyl pulled loose/slack, to do the job.

did you try this? Info in support http://support.uscutter.com/index.php?/Knowledgebase/Article/View/23/5/my-cut-size-does-not-match-the-indicated-size-in-signblazer

It depends on which version of Flexistarter8.6 you have,, Vs2 has it. I guess I don't understand why you are trying to use 2 different systems (directions) to contour cut... You state your cutter has an optical eye. so that is different directions than the Flexistarter8.6 directions. Use your cutter directions..if your using the optical eye. Or use the Flexistarter 8.6 directions, BUT you can't use both directions at the same time. Flexistarter 8.6 is measuring from the blade, (does not use an optical eye) not an optical eye. When using your cutter with the optical eye, you are measuring from the optical eye. I DO have Flexistarter8.6 with contour cutting. It is VS2. When you are using Flexistarter8.6 you have to jog your cutter to each registration mark and your Flexistarter8.6 software records it, and cuts. Here is an example of what you should see from this EBAY ad, This shows Flexistarter 10, but Flexistarter8.6 vs2 is the same directions. You should get an interactive bar with arrows to jog your cutter, to each registration mark. After doing that your cutter will cut the outline. http://cgi.ebay.com/Flexi-Starter-10-vinyl-cutter-FlexiStarter-Design-NEW-/270793901761?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item3f0c9306c1

this is from another post. You don't state what OS you are using, so maybe this will help ,maybe not. this is for Windows 7 problem.. here is the link for the whole post Now for the solution: If you are experiencing the dreaded uscutter under unknown device in device manager have no fear. This is all assuming that you have already tried the normal steps and installed the FTDI driver of course. First download this driver HERE and extract to a folder in a spot you will be able to find later. Then go to control panel, devices and printers and choose to add new printer. Add local and use the existing port usb0001. When it is looking for the driver choose have disk and navigate to the directory you saved. It will tell you that this driver is not digitally signed but this is ok. Now launch SB and create a square. Click cutter and then setup. Choose your cutter model and under ports choose usb0001. OK out of that and then choose cut and cut tile. This has worked on both Windows 7 64 bit business as well as Windows 7 32 bit ultimate and I was able to duplicate no problem. Simple solution? Yes! Does it work? It did for me! keywords: windows seven com port usb device not found driver 64bit mh-721 mh721

Vinyl slipping/weeding line cutting through image
MZ SKEETER replied to jhumbeutel's topic in GraphTec Cutting Plotter Discussion
actually I NEVER run past 5-6 on speed. I get perfect cuts every time. In over 3 years of cutting, I have never had my cutter past 6 on speed. And when I'm cutting small text, I use 2 or 3... I guess I'm not in that big of hurry... Everything cuts smooth, And I never have problems cutting... -

what speed are you running your cutter at? Personally, I never use weeding lines on large graphics or even small graphics... and I cut graphics up to 16ft long sometimes and they are perfect. ....just small text is all I use weed lines on.. occasionally. -
I don't do shirts, or anything else like that. I just keep stepping up the niche' I have. I have thousands of designs, that I just keep switching around and see what sells.
-
I started my business for 14 months with a 30" Seiki, cutting the same designs I do now. You need to find a niche'. Or some really great designs. My sales are mostly full side vehicle decals. 8-12 ft long. left and right. I do very little text. and all I do is vinyl.
-
I know I love mine, FC7000MK-30 that is. It's a very well built, heavy machine. even though it cuts 30" the machine is 49.5" wide. I do have the media basket on mine, That's what sold me over the Roland, and the stand are standard.
-
I am a full time EBAY store only. a couple classified ads on the side. It supports me very well. I have a niche' in vehicle graphics. People love the detailed unusual ones. My 8ft table came from Menards. You probably have them up there. Menards started in Wisconsin area I believe. I just love that store. Great work from you and your wife. Sorry, I have permission to make the wizard, he was purchased from a graphic designer I know. It takes alot of memory in a cutter, to cut a design like that. I always cut things in no hurry. Mine was cut on a Graphtec. In probably about 15-20 minutes.
-
Hey SeeJay, you need to step it up... on that weeding time. Your losing money, BUT great job. I can do 2 of these in about 70-80 minutes. ..each 77" x 20" left and right. These put you thru your paces. I use a needle, pointed tweezers and an exacto knife.

County fair, decal vendor, copyrighted logos...
MZ SKEETER replied to BearlyRich's topic in General discussion
how many cars/vehicles do you see speeding everyday?? Is the war on drugs over? Can't catch them all.... but someday they will get caught. It's just a matter of time. Somebody is always bucking against the law to make a buck... go on EBAY, which is world wide and you will see tons. As fast as they shut them down, 10-20 or more stores are opening up with selling copyright infringements. -

The reason it is expensive: is because the work is already done and design is cut ready. The design is licensed, and they are allowing you the use of the licensed design.
