photoshop is a raster program, not vector. (for photos etc). You have to use a vector program for cutting. Vector is outlines. In inkscape .eps is vector. Once you import your image into inkscape you have to vectorize it. and save it as an .eps file. Vectorising in Inkscape SolutionThis walk through explains the basics of vectorising in Inkscape. Step 1) Import your image. Click File>Import, find your file and click OK. Step 2) Select the image, go to the top of the screen, click Path>Trace Bitmap. Step 3) The Trace Bitmap menu will then open. Here you can select how you want your image vectorised and adjust the settings. You can also generate a preview. Once you are happy with the preview click OK and close the Trace Bitmap screen. Step 4) Now you will have your new vector image and the old raster (bitmap, jpeg, gif etc) image stacked on top of each other. Seperate the two and delete the raster. Step 5) Play around with your new vector image! I don't use Corel. but I believe you use Powertrace in Corel. probably youtube videos for that or here on the forum. under Corel.

is the file you are importing to cut a vector file? can you save it as an .eps file? if it is a raster file. no Flexi will not cut it. from your previous posts, you have Corel. why not import it from there in vector format?

Cutter stutters on straight lines..
MZ SKEETER replied to Jwilkinson's topic in Copam Cutting Plotter Discussion
just curious, what kind of vinyl are you cutting? also if you take the whole blade holder out of the carriage, and by hand holding the blade holder and running across some vinyl in all directions does it do the jagged lines? are you making (cuts/marks) into the vinyl backing when you are doing that? also make sure there are no gouges in your cutting strip. -

have you looked into your blade holder to make sure there is no vinyl pieces , even a tiny piece can mess things up, put a drop of oil, 3-1 etc. or graphite on the blade. Make sure the carriage is firmly in it's track, make sure your cutting strip is firmly down all the way across, look at your blade REAL close and make sure it isn't damaged. try a different blade. -
do you have the cutter grounded to the stand? You should.. http://forum.uscutter.com/index.php/topic,22467.0.html

Actually, I don't upgrade on computers, for my cutter. no real need to. I stay with XP, it is very stable. and have an XP back up computer. and have a dedicated computer just for my cutter. You can still purchase older XP computers very reasonable on EBAY. and also get them with the serial ports.
