there are many people running a business with the MH Series and Pcut series, cutters. It all depends on what you plan to use the cutter for? Scott, a member, would say , start with the PCUT, next step is Copam, then the larger Graphtec. The best you can do, is purchase the BEST that you can afford. It all depends on what you are using it for. If your happy with a cutter that will only cut the sizes, the little Graphtec cuts, and don't plan on updating anytime soon, then go for it. That is your decision.

you should be able to run the TEST on your machine, change the offset in +.05 or -.05 intervals, until the TEST cuts look good.

Setting Cutting Speed with CT-630
MZ SKEETER replied to SantaCruz99's topic in Creation PCUT Cutting Plotter Support Requests
actually those speeds were listed for an older version of PCUT, -
I would guess because it is on sale, just like other companies having it on sale, And they are still making a profit from them. And that high list price is different on different sites. Even more than $299.00 and personally I think they would be hard to sell. They are too limited on what they do. Especially the size they cut. for another $70, you could purchase a 25" machine, and cut about anything. and at $270 have a 25" cutter with a stand. But that's just my 2c, to each their own. You have your own plans for it. I am not knocking a Graphtec, because they ARE great machines, I own one, and I love it, http://www.specialty-graphics.com/graphtec_quickutz_silhouette_sd_vinyl_media_cutter.html http://www.amazon.com/Silhouette-Digital-Craft-Cutting-Tool/dp/B0021VNTMC

I run everything from my computer on Graphtec Cutting Controller, Speed, Force , offset.etc. All I do on my cutter is, turn it on, put the vinyl in, close the pinch rollers, move my carriage head to where I want to start, hit rear roll> enter> then origin> then if a long design , Menu> next > Prefeed.> Menu. It is ready to cut. I avoid the cycle of measuring the width of the vinyl, or maybe my pinch roller a hair too far over, or I can use a cut on a small scrap, say 2"x 6" and no sensor will go off. There is a screw on the back of my machine that you can loosen and move the left pinch roller over to the right pinch roller on the larger grit roller and cut a 2" wide piece of vinyl, if I want. I don't think turning the media sensor/ or pinch rollers off will affect the contour cutting. The ARMS is not turned off.

LOL ..by next year it will probably be a FC9000 and get your money saved. the difference between my Fc7000MK-75 (30") bought new 2008 at $2700,with media basket.NOT ON SALE including shipping, and the FC8000- (30") is now $4195..shipped.with media basket on USCutter site went higher at $1495. and just reading it, I don't see much difference. Mine came with a 3 year warranty, from Graphtec. JUst thought I would give you some price comparisons. Save some money. I think the FC8000 was introduced in 2009, So, about time for another upgrade.

probably the same reason I do. No more measuring the vinyl at start up,, (I know how big the vinyl is) and you can put the cutter head as close to the edge of the vinyl as possible. Or any where, when you start. I turned them off as soon as I got my cutter also. I think with the sensors on, you can't cut past the pinch rollers. I can cut past the pinch rollers to the left or right anytime. And turned the pinch roller sensors off also. I just make sure they where they should be. Turned Media sensor off also. I use alot of smaller pieces. They will work with no problems.

Trying to convert jpg to eps in Inkscape - not working
MZ SKEETER replied to barrypatch's topic in Inkscape
sorry, I don't see an image here. -
it all depends on what you are using the vinyl for. Inside/outside? windows? vehicle? boats? Different types of vinyls have their own purposes. Easy layout? Hard? Need more info for what you are using it for. this is the high dollar stuff on UScutter available in matte black http://www.uscutter.com/ORACAL-951-Premium-Cast-Vinyl-24-x-10-Yard-Roll_p_382.html

Illustrator is not cutting software. only design software. and you will have to import illustrator files into any cutting software. Only takes a few seconds. I have not used Gimp.com, but I have seen it mentioned for raster images. It is FREE, from what I have seen, Maybe give it a try.

thanks Roger. I wasn't going to say anything. I don't even have a pic up anymore

plug the computer to the cutter, when the computer and cutter is off. I do believe that would work and not jump com ports
-
I don't know what happened the first time, but everytime you unplug and replug, it will assign it a new com port #
