    Here I come Nashville!

Yeah, we loved Nashville when we went to visit. In a couple weekends we are going to go down there again to look for places to live. Any places we should avoid? Close proximity to the Vanderbilt Campus would be fantastic. We are also considering buying a house instead of renting. The only issue is that we may not be there for too long and buying and selling a house within ~2 year span doesn't seem incredibly appealing. Part of me seems to think that it may grow on us quickly enough that we may stay significantly longer though.

    Here I come Nashville!

My Fiance got accepted to the residency program at the Vanderbilt Medical Center. So, in June we are moving to Nashville. It's kind of a crazy sudden life changing thing. When we were down there for her interview we went out to the bars after the interviews and one of the other interviewees called us Yankees. She was from Mississippi and I explained to her that Ohio was the midwest, and happened to be the heart of America (you know because it's kinda shaped like a little heart and it's in an approximate heart location when you look at a map). Anyway... are people going to call us Yanks because we are from Ohio? I'm being completely serious with this next question... Can I get away with wearing my seersucker suit? In Ohio people think I'm nuts so it usually doesn't come out.

    Pearls of wisdom....

You don't have to buy a name brand cable. Any generic one from monoprice would be more than adequate. If you do want buy retail I'll let you in on a secret. All of the house branded cables are actually made by the same company as what ever the name brand cable they carry. All Staples cables, for example, are made by Belkin. If you are ever in a Staples store when they are putting out cables or surge protectors you will see that all of the "Staples" brand products come in a Belkin box. Same goes for their printable labels. The generic is actually made by Avery.

whats causing my computer to shut down off?

This could be any number of things. Is it just shutting off? or is it a blue screen? What kind of computer and what are the specs? It seems like you are accusing the seller of the cutter of doing something wrong... They probably haven't ever heard of this because it is most likely not the cutter. What is the cutter model and is it new or used? Have you tried uninstalling and reinstalling both the software and the drivers for the cutter?

    storing scrap vinyl...

I roll mine into the tube of the same color. I don't know why you would do it any other way.

    Forum Reorganization.

One thing that I have noticed around here lately is that there are an alarming number of help topics in General Discussion where they do not belong. Maybe have a help Forum under the General Category section? I don't know. It just seems crazy that a mod has to come in here every week or so and move a bunch of threads. I guess it's just kind of annoying that people post so many threads in places where they don't belong. I'm not trying to say anything to anyone specifically. I just think that people don't see a Help forum that is just for general queries.

    Notebook repair

thanx for the info, The computer I'm having problems with is a laptop and its always plugged in, I harldy ever use the battery. Renee If you don't use the battery make sure you take it out. Also just to throw this out there... If you are getting a new power supply for a desktop you should always go with a good reputable brand. I would never go with a house brand. Also when it comes to power ratings not all power supplies are created equally. Most of the no name brands boast large wattage numbers, but there are different voltage rails on a power supply. The 12V rail is usually the most important when you are looking at power supplies. There are a lot of manufacturers out there that pump up the 3.3V and 5V rails because they are cheaper to make, but don't do you any good. They are also usually made with cheaper components that are more likely to fail. Power supply failure could take out several or all the components of a computer. It is the last place you want to save money when dealing with computers.

Yeah if you have a warranty through them it's fine. Otherwise, they are going to gouge the hell out of you.

Hey Renee I wouldn't recommend taking it to best buy to be honest. They are going to charge you for all kinds of nonsense. If the only time it is shutting down is when you are stressing it the absolute most then it is almost definitely just overheating in which case they are going to charge you money and tell you they can't do anything unless they charge you a lot more money. If you have a best buy warranty then it would probably be ok to take it there, if not then you should stay away. As much as I normally don't recommend this because it's not the best habit and shouldn't be done all of the time. I would turn off the computer, take some "canned air" (I'm not a fan of that expression, because it's not air at all) and spray into the fan intake which is almost always on the bottom and try to see if it blows some stuff out. Make sure you don't blow into where the fan blows out (usually on the back). If you smoke or have pets you build up a lot of dust and dirt over a 1 year period. Just as a little note to other people as well. If you have a desktop I would recommend opening that up once a year to clean it out.

Yeah Charlie is right you should always check for driver and bios updates from your manufactures web site. He also reminds me of my first computer. It was an old 386-33 that was running windows 3.11 on dos 6.22. I remember how cool it used to be to write programs in BASIC

What vinyl stores are brick and mortar?

I live in columbus and the warehouse is like 5 minutes away from my house. they are always friendly and usually have everything ready for me within 15 minutes or so. the convenience of having pretty much anything in their catalog in my hands within 15 minutes is pretty nice.

    ANYBODY HEARD OF

i saw it for sale one day on one of the home shopping channels. unfortunately that leads me to believe it's probably not that great, and a better (more professional) product could be had for less money. think about the cricut (i don't know how they spell it). for the price and what you get a real cutter makes a lot more sense.
