  1. Needing to get our logo digitized for embroidery (.PES file). Anyone have a referral for quality work? Being new to embroidery, I dont want the digitizing quality to be frustrating...I'm sure my learning curve will create enough of that
  2. I am in a pinch for time and this banner is very low key. Its for a friend and they need it for an event this weekend. Long story short, I was able to pickup a scrap piece of white banner roll, probably a 13 oz to use for a 3x6' banner. I have a heavy duty grommet puncher (from USC). What else would I need to do besides fold and grommet the edges/corners (I say fold because I am not sure if a single layer will be strong enough)? Do I need to use hem tape to keep the folded edges flat? And/or do I need to seal any edges (folded or not)? Edge pic attached. Thank you!

Quick question on finishing a roll banner?

Thanks Dakota. I will see what I can find locally! I am going to have to go to a local sign shop and beg

    Who Embroiders?

Ha Goose, just came on to find info on embroidery! Actually looking for some digitizing for our logo. I feel like I am starting from scratch in my learning curve again. Did you decide on a machine and will you be doing digitizing? (gonna post a new thread about that as well)
  7. I have all these little rolls rubber banded together..ie, all Red 751, various widths/lengths. Usable vinyl, but a PIA to go through quickly and store. Seems silly to keep all of them, but I do find myself using them. What size scraps are keepers for you?
  8. Also posted here, not sure on the protocol for posting in 2 forums...feel free to move or delete
  9. ^ LOL and so true! CA is getting slim for wheelin/riding spots (and apparently "air" according to the powers that be)...but dont even get me started on those topics, SMH.
  10. Dang, missed all the troll fun. MB, in my "not as young as i used to be age", crawlers dont hurt as much as dirt bikes ... i kinda like my bones unbroken
  11. could be windows, problem was i upgraded everything at once (and i usually know better)...makes it hard to troubleshoot.
  12. Haha Guys, lol Moody Blue, once you update to CC 2015 does your plugin still launch SCP from within Illustrator? Ok, just tried it again, i guess they needed to warm up to each other. It launches SCP now :| It just does not bring it to the front of Illustrator, which is not that big of an issue.
  13. So, i just setup a new PC, same operating system as old (Windows 7 64-bit). SCP website has plugin labeled Illustrator CC. It worked for Illustrator CC 2014, but does not seem to be working with CC 2015. Anyone having issues with SCP plugin for CC 2015? I have to contact SCP tomorrow to see if they need a new plugin, but until then thought I'd check here.
  14. Was not sure how to title or search this, but this seems to be happening since I renewed my SCP subscription. When i send a cut (currently have an 11' x 15" layout on the cutter) it cuts the looooong weed lines in between lines of text first, then starts cutting from the left side of my layout, in order, to the end. It used to just do maybe 1' sections working from beginning to end (manual weed lines or not). Anyone have an idea of what setting this might be?

Signcut is advancing vinyl to end before cutting beginning

Thanks Goose, for some reason i didnt get reply notification. Long story short, my old pc which i was using had it checked but was not working. Just setup new PC, reinstalled SCP, set that setting and the Preview seems to be cutting in steps now.

    Well Crap :(

Sorry to hear about your cutter. Just FYI, if you are interested, i have a this cutter SC24 with a stand i can make you a very fair deal on. It was the first cutter i bought from US Cutter, and have since bought a Graphtec. Only used it for a few months and very light at that. PM me if you are interested, hopefully shipping wont kill it, but we can price costs.

    Thick vinyl for heavy equipment

Anyone know of a good thick outdoor vinyl? I am thinking something like the Oralite 5500 reflective construction material, but not reflective. It is going on heavy equipment. We have some of the Oralite on now, and it takes a pretty good scrape to trash it. Getting a different machine that will need stickers.
  18. I normally cut so there is no overlap between colors. Sometimes there is a small gap in spots but it is not noticeable on large signs, far away stuff, etc. I am doing a semi truck door for a friend who i know is meticulous. The cut line for the light blue color is the yellow line, which would leave me a little overlap in case it is slightly off. Green Vinyl is 951 Premium Metallic Blue Vinyl 751 Questions: 1. What is the smallest width for the outline i should use...right now its about .125" (considering its metallic vinyl) 2. Should i cut it with an overlap or no overlap (and hope it goes on straight (twice!) Thank you!

Suggestions on how to cut this thin outline?

PARCHMENT PAPER IS MY NEW BEST FRIEND!!! Thanks for the tip Goose...worked almost perfectly! (Had a black truck with a green metallic so it was harder to see, but you can rub a pencil over the edges in several spots and get a good idea. Truck turned out great and i used it for our truck logo also. Ours has about 5 colors and it went pretty quick!

    Greenstar banner brand?

I have been using 18oz US Banner stitched/grommeted banners for most all of my outdoor banner orders. Curious if anyone knows if Greenstar stitched/grommeted banners are possibly made by the same company or equal quality? For me, ordering everything in one shipment from USC is a huge convience, just want to make sure the quality is equal.

Suggestions on how to cut this thin outline?

do you think wet/dry application? I rarely use wet, it makes me nervous, lol. If its difficult to work with, I guess thats why clear backing is not popular.

Suggestions on how to cut this thin outline?

Goose, thanks for all the info! Ideally i wanted to do a solid green first, then blue over it, however, when i have layered vinyl over vinyl before, it seems when i pull the transfer off my second layer it will start to show bubbles EVERYWHERE, so i have not done that since. My guess is something with my technique :| I actually have some of that exact same parchment paper. Had NO idea vinyl would not stick...that is awesome. So basically, i am replacing the backing paper with parchment paper? (would be great if someone invented see through backing paper, right?) No flecks of paper anywhere to cause bubbles/bumps? I have to do one of our trucks today also, so i will definitely be trying that.

    embroidery digitizing software

Following... Looking into a Babylock machine and curious also about taking my illustrator artwork into a PES file format as well.
  24. How do you like using the catch basket for your cutter? What is the benefit? (it is really expensive! Also, I looked on Graphtec site for covers and did not see an accessory page? Do you know where I can get one? My 24" SC cover does not fit very well on it.
