They look nice. What font did you use on the brown Aeropostle? My kids are always wanting distressed fonts, but I'm too lazy to silk screen them and most don't weed very well with vinyl. When I first started doing vinyl they weren't so concerned with the distressed fonts, but once they figured out the vinyl doesn't break down like plastisol, they really let me hear how much they prefer distressed stuff.

Problem with heat pressing a design
Renegade replied to krys10g's topic in T-Shirts and/ or Garments
I've had similar problems with some transfers and its really hard to figure out why it happens sometimes, but usually more pressure is the answer for me. I don't see the problem very often indoors, but when I'm pressing outside at an event it can be a really major problem. So, besides the pressure, watch for humidity, temperature, & if there might be air blowing around from a fan, heater, or air conditioning. Once you get near 400 range its easy to scorch shirts, but sometimes its just a dirty press. I've noticed some ringspuns discolor more easily. Using teflon or parchment paper can help avoid the scorch. -
I've also had the delayed shipment only to find items missing and back ordered after I received the delayed shipment from them.

I almost didn't buy my first cutter from USCutter because of the posts on TSF, but luckly I took a chance. Even though I had some trouble at first with my new cutter, but thanks to Ken Imes and Fivestar I kept working through the problems until we got things worked out. Made it an easy choice to go back to them when I bought my Graphtec. I can tell you that this isn't the only forum they have a problem with. Its starting to seem like they have a problem with any forum that calls out their problems. Just hope they figure out where their problems are before they kill what used to be a great forum.

Damn USCutter for providing products that function and keeping all of us hard at work! There seems to be a growing problem over at TSF. I used to really like it and learned a lot there, but seems like the management has been left to the moderators. Most of them seem ok, but there are a couple of the main ones that seem to be mostly concerned with making everyone conform to their opinion and trying to intimidate members. What you might not get to see is how many posts are removed or even worse edited by them. Not because of offensive or problem posts, but because of differing opinions. So much for freedom of speech. Luckily we have the freedom to goto better forums.

I'm right there with you. They definitely seem like they are bad stock or aren't being well taken care of. I'd love to find somewhere else to get all of my license plate stuff affordably anyway because Sign Warehouse has problems with my orders almost 50% of the time.

Might not be such a good idea to use the Mitsubishi logo.

I'd recommend taking a look on Craigslist to see if you can find a deal on a name brand in your area. Often see Hix, Mighty, Stahls, Hotronix, or Geo Knight presses there for under $500 that are good used presses that won't let you down.

You have a press problem.

Do we have a Halloween thread in graphics yet?

I prefer vinyl as well, but agree that there are often designs that don't lend themselves to weeding.

Anyone know anything about this heat press?
Renegade replied to ramy's topic in T-Shirts and/ or Garments
I wouldn't have either one of them. Get a proven name brand and you'll never regret it. -
To me Easy Weed/Ecofilm is much shinier than Thermoflex or Multicut. Use silicone parchment paper instead of teflon to get more of a matte finish.

Its really thin, but there is a layer of material on top of the paper. -
Contour cutting heat transfers, JPSS question
Renegade replied to lizz137's topic in T-Shirts and/ or Garments
I cut my JPSS just like I cut vinyl and weed it on the paper. -
I vote for vinyl as well. Sublimation has its place and is pretty cool, but for shirts you need to remember that they need to be polyester for sublimation. That not only limits your color choices, but it also drives the cost up considerably.
-
Me too. If you want some shirts to play with then order shirts for you and your family, but I generally order as needed for orders. Then often you'll hopefully have orders that maybe need a little extra to meet the free shipping minimums and then you can start working on building up your inventory.

I did a ton of research before I jumped in, but I dove in pretty hard and in the first year spent over 3 times the $2000 that I had planned. 15 months later, I had my equipment paid for while paying myself and helpers for our time along the way. That wasn't working every day or anything close to that either. I did lots of little jobs on the weekend and things like that, but the bulk of my work came from helping groups with fundraising. It took a little longer than I had planned thanks to a snow storm that ruined one of our events, but overall I knew it was a safe investment as long as I was willing to put the work in. There are a ton of good screen shops in my area, but I still have a all the work I want because I work to find the best method to fit the needs of my customers. Sometimes that is a fundraising group that we can do 700 shirts for and sometimes that is someone that wants one or two shirts along with many in between. I do embroidery, plastisol transfers, heat press vinyl, JPSS with pigment inks, rhinestones & now testing some new ColorJet III paper that promising. I've also done some tents, folding chairs, seat belt cruisers, signs, license plates, banners, & car decals. Basically the niche I've found is serving the customer's needs instead of finding customers that fit a certain type of service that I choose to provide.

I prefer Multicut from Jotopaper.com, but here are some other threads with everyone's opinions. http://forum.uscutter.com/index.php/topic,20893.0.html http://forum.uscutter.com/index.php/topic,16778.0.html http://forum.uscutter.com/index.php/topic,18278.0.html

Who Has Best Heat Press For Newbie
Renegade replied to wbrowning's topic in T-Shirts and/ or Garments
Best I can tell Sunie must just have quality control issues. Some people have good luck from their presses, but many others don't and tend to be left with a nonworking press and no real options. Besides the burnt knuckles because the press doesn't open very far, the main problems I've heard about were uneven platens, cold spots, & just plain dead presses and people stuck with no support or reasonable option for replacement. I would say if you must get a Sunie to get it from Proworld as they seem to stand behind theirs. -
Sublimation is for polyester only. It actually works even better on hard items like mugs and such.

Had a last minute change and can't use the safety orange shirts that we had planned too. Need color combination recommendations of shirts and plastisol that you have seen and really liked. Needs to be something bright, but has to be light enough to do hot split transfers. Safety green, orange, & neon pink our out. Needs to appeal to high school girls and boys.

Thanks! I'll check it out.
