Explain to me grounding. I understand grounding very well when it comes to towers and radios and electricity. But explain why the machine needs grounded, the pros and cons of the machine being grounded, what the repercusions are if it is not grounded and is grounding to the stand enough and why? Thanks!! Ok, two things. Thing number 1. My copam will not measure any more. it will measure left to right, but when it goes to find the "edge" it spits the vinyl out the back an onto the floor!! Thing number 2. Based on reccomendations, I Bought Flexi Starter 8.6v2. I am trying to make a test cut, my name. 2"x4" it cuts in reverse even though it is not in "mirror" mode on the screen and when it gets to the "A" in my name, the cutter stops and says "cutting"........ I have no more hair left to deal with this. any help would be very appreciated.

Getting vinyl to track correctly, quickly. How I do it.
captonzoom replied to pitts-s1s-pilot's topic in Copam Cutting Plotter Discussion
I line mine up with the lines and keep advancing and unadvancing and adjusting the pinch rollers the vinyl until it tracks properly. Where can you get the media basket for the copam 2500? -
I have my cutter 12 feet away on USB. works ok

Why Was Captonzooms' Thread Locked?
captonzoom replied to Porkchopusn's topic in Copam Cutting Plotter Support Requests
Gee Guys....Wonder why they locked my post?? Maybe because the truth has come out? Weird huh? I did nothing wrong. All I did was ask questions and no one from the USC support staff answered them. Oh Well. -
Riddle me this Batman? I have 3 machines, 2 Refines (MH721 24" and 12" and a Copam 24". The thing that bothers me is, when I try to cut something on the Copam with lots of "nodes" the machine freaks out makes radom line cuts or does the diagonal 45 degree cut of death!! This happens ALL of the time when using the Papyrus font. This wastes ALOT OF VINYL!! If I cut an image with lots-o-nodes it does the same thing. Now, the kicker is, if I take the same file, and cut it on the Refine, IT CUTS PERFECTLY!!!!! No problems, no mysterious lines, no continuous line of death that rolls all the vinyl out onto the floor, nothing. I was told by the US Cutter Techs that the file is propably corrupt. (Which is not true since it cuts on the refine machines A-OK) I see LOTS OF THREADS ON THIS SAME PROBLEM. It is NOT THE FILES/FONTS that is causing the problem, its the machine!!! So, my question is, why purchase the expensive Copam with 64megs of memory when it can't buffer/cut all those nodes? Please make me understand my frustration. Thanks guys!!

Hi, I know, I figured that out. But, even listed like the way you have it, it cuts it in mirror even though mirror is not selected.

Problem with COPAM???
captonzoom replied to captonzoom's topic in Copam Cutting Plotter Support Requests
Then why does the refine work - no questions asked. it just works. I use the software provided by USC, the drivers provided by USC, the cables provided by USC, still, only issues with the copam? -

are you running both machines on 1 computer? also, Do you have another cutting program downloaded to the same computer that you have Flexi downloaded to?, What driver did you download for Flexi? I only use Flexi and never have a problem, I love it... very ez to use. I have both cutters on 1 machine, my desktop. however when I switch to my laptop, it does the same thing. I mainly use sign blazer,b ut i was told to get flexi as it is much better. i cant agree or disagree yet as it doesnt work. i tryed using the copam driver that came with flexi as well as the one from USC. -

Problem with COPAM???
captonzoom replied to captonzoom's topic in Copam Cutting Plotter Support Requests
Much agreed Jim. Most every post about the Copam is about the same thing. If a product is sold, and it states USB, then it should work regardless. Mine works with USB, but all the problems I am having users say it is USB releated. BUT, again, My 721 work like a champ. It just doesnt cut as precise as my copam does. Its kinda like when you buy something that says one size fits all. When you get it home and put it on, it doesnt fit or come close to fitting. I love my Copam, I just wish USCutter would fix what ever issue that causes the random lines, cuts, diagonal cuts, cuts that feed the whole roll on the ground. My question is still, why does the cheaper no do that. same USB, same software, different results.. ALSO, I purchased Flexi starter and it DOESNT WORK. It will not cut past 2 letters, the Copam just FREEZES and the fan kicks into high speed. Back to the drawing board. -
going crazy with lines. Reponse ASAP.

Problem with COPAM???
captonzoom replied to captonzoom's topic in Copam Cutting Plotter Support Requests
Mike, I put a ticket in with USCutter when I first received the Copam, no help. They told me it was a corrupt file. It was this past weekend when I realized that my old cutter could cut that font, so I gave it a try and it worked. With the new PC's now, they only have usb and no serial and no printer ports. I have vista (which i hate but i cant switch back to xp because not all of the drivers are available). It is just strang that the image works on the cheaper cutter with Sign Blazer Software but wont work on the expensive cutter with the Sign Blazer Software. I'm afraid I may have to switch to Flexi Starter like Cyber suggested just to get certain images to cut right.. -

I use USB since what PC comes with a serial port anymore I have all the latest Us Cutter drivers. Even when using a usb to serial converter, it is still usb. -

I upgraded to the Copam because it does a fantastic job at fine detail where the refine does not. -

Problem with COPAM???
captonzoom replied to captonzoom's topic in Copam Cutting Plotter Support Requests
I know it is an issue. Every Copam user has it. Looks like the fix is either switch software or to a different machine, correct? Yes this is still an issue, I just find it strange that it works on the cheap cutter and not the expensive cutter. I have never wasted/lost as much vinyl on any other machine then I do with my Copam. The trick is, never walk away from a Copam if you want it to cut properly.
