I use masks in illustrator to remove what I don't need.
-
Sure it is; you would have to redraw it all.

I use a graphic table and it is great for coloring. Illustrator is a little harder to control, but after some time it like using a pencil instead of a mouse. The price is right on that one to try it out.

I been seeing a lot of posts about Inkscape and even Ken on the phone was talking about it. I have never heard of it till I came here. Well today I downloaded it and thought I would see how it rates to Illustrator. Man was I surprised, for a program that is free and has so much power. I think this program is worth its weight with the big boys. I took and caricature of my self and scanned it in at 72dpi to test the trace features in Illustrator and Inkscape. I the sample below inkscape I believe it was a better bitmap trace. Sure you can change the setting in Illustrator and Inkscape, but Inkscape is free and don't have to pay the illustrator price tag. Inkscape is also not a memory hog like CS3 is. I so tested the line and pen tools and they seam to responds better and give nice flow. The nod editing feature rocks, I find it easier to use then Illustrator. For a free program or even if it cost some change this program is well worth it in my option. If you haven't already downloaded it I would suggest doing it now.

Encad NovaCut 24": Anyone know about this cutter?
mortalimmortal replied to JoeCamaro's topic in Competitor Cutter Help
I had one, its a great cutter very quiet. After the plotter is adjusted it can cut hair line details at high speeds. The controls are easy to use. It should have all three hook ups lpt, 9pin, and usb. It cost 1,400.00 when I bought it back in 2005. The guy that bought the shop and took over my area is still using it today with no problems. -
Here are the steps: I do all my stuff in Illustrator, but any program will work for designing. 1. have a design or image 2. I put the reg marks in (Illustrator) They have to be vector save as a eps 3. print it out (printer) 4. Import the eps in flexi, signlab or any other vector cutting based program 5. load the printed image in the plotter 6. select the 2 bottom reg mark and plot it out. 7. if they don't match up then move the knife or the media into the right spot 8. Once the two reg mark are inline with the plotter and the software, your ready to cut the contour cut. Once you get the hang of it, it will go a little faster. I tried it after the guy explained how to do it at the show in long beach 3 weeks ago. It took a few tries, but after I got it down it got a lot easier.

I don't use SB so i have no clue on how to do it.

Since its a black and open piece it has no separate parts. So you need a color separated version if you want the parts to be inadvisable.

I would do a back ground of white then do the blue and the red.
