  1. a couple of things - is the cutter screwed to the stand so it is grounding the stand? did you install a serial card in your desktop or go with a adapter cable ( the keyspan seems to be the best of these. the adapter card is usually better. I just use the usb on all my equipment but that has not worked for everyone. usually the problem you are describing comes back to a static buildup issue that is cured by grounding the stand - some have used dryer sheets on the vinyl or even just crank the humidifier up more! One person last year used a vaprizer in the room not pointed at the cutter of course

  4. a unit you plug your cutter and computer into that stops electric surges like from lightning or when the power coming back on from hurting your equipment

    Grounding cutter?

run a wire from the stand to a screw on the cutter - the static builds up in the stand during use and then discharges thru the cutting head - bad things happen

I don't think the 631 would be a problem it is only guaranteed removable for 2 years after that it may be harder to remove
  7. This is only the second copam I have seen with a hardware problem! and both this week
  8. whoops - thought you had the metal stand - don't forget the surge suppressor though
  9. 2 other things that come to mind - don't forget to run a ground wire from your cutter to the stand as the refine just sits on the rubber feet and you will get static build up that will discharge thru your cutter head and cause things from erratic cuts to fried boards. other thing is to always run your computer and cutter thru a surge supressor - spring is coming and their will inevitably be many people who get there equipment zapped by surges
  10. glad everything worked out great - next step is to try cleancut blades in your cutter - you will be amazed at the difference in the cuts

    HELP with laserpoint 24 cutter

not sure on the laserpoint but on the refines they have to have a ground wire gun from the stand to the plotter - if I remember right the lp has screws that conned the unit to the stand so it is just a matter of bare metal contacting the screw at both ends. this time of year the cutters create a lot of static with the vinyl and cause a multitude of errors. might be another one to eliminate! another possibility is to change to high quality usb cable if you are using one or many people have just gone back to a serial port to eliminate communication errors
  19. seems with 3-4 people the tech support is not as quick to respond as when it was a one man show though
  20. This is what our prisoners do all day long. doesn't cost them a dime and if you shotgun enough they win a few. The op is being taken care of but we have to have instigators - just like at work. an American Embarrasment
