my recommendation as i deal with this daily.. if its a desktop.. try to get it with winxp or see if they offer a winxp downgrade discs.. because most manufacturers such as dell or HP.. if you custom order it.. if you get vista business.. you usually get a winxp install discs as well.. if you ask... but please remember.. if you buy a computer at bestbuy/circuit city/wallyworld.. and then you decide to put winxp on it.. there is no guarrantee there will be drivers for winxp that will work with your system.. especially if it is a laptop.. i had a bunch of customers who just went out and bought brand new laptops.. to find out that their manufacturers do not suppor winxp drivers for those new laptops.. so be careful.. if it was me.. i would stay with winxp.. i have used vista since the beta and in the beginning it was real buggy and in fact i had to use win2k drivers for a lot of the devices in my box just to get them to run on vista.. however.. i use it daily at work and home on a laptop with no problems what so ever.. first thing i do is turn off UAC.. every program i push on it runs without a problem.. you can go in and set compatibility with winxp with any program.. that doesnt mean that the program will run 100% like it did on winxp but it helps.. especially if you are going to use this computer to control equipment that really was made and tested on winxp and winxp drivers.. so stay with winxp for your work/cutter program machine.. if you need a laptop to surf the web.. then by all means just get vista..

i just wanted to chime in.. i got the laserpoint 24" and when i got the box from fedex it was huge.. i guess i wasnt thinking.. i mean i know how big 2 feet is but its like 30" or so (i didnt measure) i think someone said the cutting area is 28" wide.. so a 48" one has gotta be huge and heavy

well.. fedex delivered a heavy package yesterday.. i started to put the stand together and got that done.. then i was too busy to finish and install the LP24 on the stand.. its still in its box.. ooooh its eating a hole in my pocket so to speak.. i want to try it out.. im building a small p4 box to run just the cutter.. so i guess i'll have to wait until tomorrow to finally hook it up and install the software.. etc..

looks good.. i just got my LP24 yesterday from fedex.. got the stand apart using the .swf instructions someone had.. i got the photocopy instructions and i looked thru them for a second.. your pics are great.. they need to be in the manual.. the LP24 itself is a heavy beast.. lol.. the fedex guy was like "what you got in here" .. i was so busy yesterday i didnt get the LP24 on the stand.. its still in the box.. im going to mount the LP24 on the stand this morning then quickly build a pc to run the cutting progs for it.. do a few test runs with paper and pen..

lol.. hey we all cant always agree.. but thats the beauty of the forum.. we are not identical robots.. we all have our own opinions and thoughts.. thats what makes a "forum" a good place for information.. your way might work but might not be the way that I do it.. there are many different routes to a specific point.. some like the fast way.. others like the scenic way.. either way we make it at the end.. so who is the red headed step child in this bunch?

which heatpress did you decide on?

I dont want a big supply just yet.. i want to learn before I really order a bunch of colors.. i was thinking stick with white so i can play around with some logos for my car windows to advertise my business.. any help greatly appreciated.. already sent in orders for free samples at a few sites..

ralais.. looks good.. now my head is leaning to the left and i got a kink in my neck.. btw.. did you get a heat press or did you do this with an iron.. i remember a thread i read that you were debating which to get.. just wondering because i am thinking of getting a heat press in a few months..

ok so whats happening is sites that are secure its blocking access to them.. try this.. goto tools.. internet options.. advance...Check the option for Use SSL 2.0 and then restart.. i had one in here that did that and once i changed it to SSL 2.0 it worked.. this was on IE7 btw.. is this on xp or vista? on vista you can try to run IE7 with protected mode off and see if you can get to secure sites.. had that happen a few times as well.. another option is to install firefox or opera.. and see if you can connect to secure sites.. there was an update awhile back that was playing havock with secure sites in IE7.. post back what you find.. *EDIT* doh.. just noticed you said you tried mozilla.. could possibly be some spyware that has changed somethings.. hmmm i'll wait to see if u can try what i said above.. BannerJohn.. i gotcha.. i have friends in the biz as well.. many of my long time friends who were hackers back in the day now work for symantec and mcafee.. now i wouldnt even run either of their softwares now.. memory hogs.. but that is another story..

thats what im saying.. its not just the browser that is the issue.. spoofing and fishing are totally different.. opera isnt the best browser out there.. im sorry to tell you this.. but again its not the worst.. neither is firefox.. anything is better then IE6.. IE7 is getting better.. most of the time activex has to be started anyways.. lil yellow line above your browser.. if its not started.. cant get in.. and its then when people get into trouble.. because most users are not computer literate they just click OK no matter what it is just to get the screen off of their browser.. almost 99% of the time in my experience it has been user error for the virus/spyware.. i know the bad guys are getting smarter.. more evil.. etc.. no browser or operating system is 100% protected.. and if someone with a mac chimes in i have bad news for you.. it isnt as safe as you are lead to believe.. in fact osX was hacked in less then 30mins.. it can be done.. however its not a big draw to the evil people out there that do this.. reason being 90% of the world uses windows OS.. the other 10% use mac.. who are you going to attack to make the most effect.. the 90% of the users with windows.. thats why everything you see is windows related.. majority rules.. my 2 cents.. we can agree.. now back to vinyl discussion ok Dave
