    Graphtec CE6000-60 HELP

Yes, it was plugged in, but you are right, it's always better to be safe than sorry. After 26 years in the game this is the first time I have lost any equipment. Now, I'm not so sure it was electrical, because the other printer with what I thought was a bad USB port as well, will work when plugged into a PC. However, the PC would not recognize the cutter, so that lends a little more credence to the dead USB port on the cutter. My plan is to try the RS232C port, but there is some confusion as to whether a standard cable will work or if it has to be a Graphtec cable. Ca anyone confirm if it has to be a Graphtec cable? The Graphtec guys says it does, but their authorized repair center says any cable should work. I'm trying to exhaust all possibilities before committing to a huge repair bill.

    Graphtec CE6000-60 HELP

I use Macs..... drivers are not a common issue, but I have a friend coming by with a PC laptop to test the USB port. Graphtec finally responded and the tech said if it doesn't work on a PC or a mac via USB the problem will be with the machine itself, i.e. the USB port. Unfortunately, it is hard soldered to the Motherboard so the entire piece needs to be replaced. If I can't get the RS-232C port to work via the keyspan adaptor, then I am looking at a $700 repair.

    Graphtec CE6000-60 HELP

I think I may have a bad USB port on the Graphtec. I have tried different computers with different operating systems, as well as different USB cables. We had a lightening strike a week or two ago, and I heard a pop but never could find what it might have been. Now I discover that my Graphtec is not working as well as the Epson sitting next to it. Both were connected using USB, but when I switched the printer to the optional ethernet connection, my computer was able to connect to it. That's the only thing that makes me think it's USB related as all other options have been exhausted. I can't get Graphtec to respond to any email as of yet and I called the not so local service guy and he is checking on a price for a new board. Update: $508 for the board. Sounds like it might be cheaper to buy a cheap laptop and connect via Serial cable. I wish I had a way to test that option. Does anyone know if the Keyspan adaptor would work? I have one of those from my old setup.

    Graphtec CE6000-60 HELP

Did anybody discover a solution for this? Mine recently stopped being recognized as well.

Are there any Mac users out there?

I use Cutting Master 3 which came with my Graphtec CE6000 via the plug-in though Illustrator. I create all my designs in Illustrator or Indesign and trace in Illustrator and use the plug-in to send it to the cutter. It works perfectly for what we do.

    MacBook an USCutter

I don't see why it wouldn't work. But I never went that route. I invested a little more and purchased the SC model which worked pretty good via SignCut Pro. I only stopped using it because I upgraded to a Graphtec CE6000 and that software was glitchy with that model.

    Biggest order ever!

Congrats on the order! I have missed being in the forum, but I have just been so busy lately. Orders like this usually make me want to rethink my pricing structure because it's always more work than I imagined. But they do make it all worth while in the end.
  8. I use them in between lines of text. I mostly cut heat transfer vinyl which is real stretchy at times and it makes weeding a lot easier.
  9. Make my own weed lines?? That's blasphemy!!! That would be to much like right.

Graph-tec CE vs FC series question.

I agree, you should use what feels right in your hands, but I have to say, nothing seems to beat one of those Stahls EZ Weeder, dental pick type, weeding devices. After I switched, it was much faster weeding and seemed easier. But like most things, it is all about personal preference!

Are there any Mac users out there?

I use a 21.5 iMac with 16MB ram and 4 TB of storage. I currently use the Graphtec CE-6000 which I love! It took a little bit of compromise to get it up and running but it works great now. I couldn't get my SignCut Pro to work with it, so I started using the included Cutting master software. I use CS5 to design and cut pretty much everything I do. This is more of a hobby for me and I do commercial printing and sign work for a casino running their in-plant production facility as my day job.
  12. Don, Thanks for the input. I have been away from the forum for a while, but just to update... I went with the Graphtec Ce6000 brand due to the issues with drivers for the Qe6000 and lack of support from Graphtec. The Signcut Pro software I used was supposed to work with the QE and the graphtec, but I have been unable to get it to work with mine. I sent a few tickets back and forth with tech support from SignCut Pro and they said it should work. Everything we tried didn't work so I started using the included Plug-in for Illustrator and haven't looked back. It has a few limitations compared to SignCut but I have made due. I only wish I could do custom weed lines and then I would be happy.
  13. I need some help guys.... I must have changed something. I played with tangential mode last night testing to see if it would help with a few cutting issues I was having with HTV, but not that I have gone back to trying to cut without it. It is cutting in slow motion! Even tried cutting a few things from the day before and it is super slow. No matter what settings I try or speed I set, I can't get it to cut any faster. Here a couple of screen shots of the settings. Does anything look out of place? I even tried a reset to factory defaults in the software. I wasn't sure if there was one on the graphtec? Any help would be appreciated!
  14. Thanks again Mz Skeeter! The reset did the trick! I am back to cutting a lightning speed. Actually this worked out in my favor for an order. I always do more than I am supposed to when printing a customer's order, and I was about to cut vinyl letters and print the full color pic on transfer paper and piece the two together when pressing the shirt. I normally try to avoid printing the text on transfer sheets because of the background glue leaving a haze on the shirt in the blank areas, but given how slow my cutter was running, there was no way I could have finished the job in town. So I decided to go the transfer route and the customer loved them! And it saved me hours of weeding and aligning issues when pressing. The letters were no where near as dark as I would have like, but the customer was very pleased and I guess that is all that matters. But I am glad to be back at cutting speed! Thanks again!
  15. I will try that and see what happens! Thanks!

    New from Alabama

    Welcome from Alabama!
  17. It's finally happening! It has been in the works for months, but my company finally gave the go ahead to open the new North Property Printshop! I am so excited! I have picked my equipment and will be doing the site survey next Wednesday. I will be building my sign tables myself unless I can find them rather inexpensively, but I was wondering what is a good table top material to cut against? I have seen in a few videos where it looks like some people have a hard surface that they cut against. Does anyone have any suggestions. I also thought about buying the greenie material and using that as an inlaid table top. I convinced them to go with the new Epson S30670 Solvent printer even though most of what we do will be indoors only, but the substrates seem to be less expensive and we could add outdoor stuff later. We have an older Epson 11880 as well, but it is super slow and the ink is really expensive for it. The quality is amazing though! I will give it that! I would also like to see any table designs any of you have put together yourselves or know of.
  18. I have been shipping on eBay for seven years and only shipped one package without tracking info and immediately got a claim for non delivery. I learned a valuable lesson that day!

SKEETER - you still with us or did you blow away?

Yes, I am glad to hear all are well. I live right on the gulf coast and went through both Katrina and Ivan. My prayers are with those who suffered a loss.

Yeah, A light box would be overkill.. but I see your point. If you are building something anyway, why not go all out? Looks like I'm not getting the Epson though, the sales lady talked me into a Mutoh 1624 which was running a promotion where they would through in a 72" Value Cutter with a ARMS system for the same price as the Epson. The Mutoh is more expensive, but apparently we have some large volume purchasing contract that gives us special pricing on equipment. Who knew? I can live with that.

Thank you. The misses isn't that happy about it, or at least wants to make me think she isn't. I told here just do like you normally do and pretend I'm not here.

I though about the glass as well and figured I could print the lines under it. That could indeed be an option and the way to go. I could get something started and see what I need as time goes on and change out the print as needed.
