    Drift Pig

Friend of mine wants to get some kind of custom sticker made with this pig image (below) and an added steering wheel. Anyone have some design ideas?
  2. G'day I recently installed a bunch of new fonts into my system, and every now and again, Illustrator will come up with an error on startup saying that cooltype.dll has an error, and it's going to crash out. Start it up again, and it's ok. Doing a search on the net, I find that this problem exists for people that seem to either have alot of fonts OR have 1 faulty font and it's screwing up the system. Photoshop opens up just fine. Main question is - how do you find that faulty font? Or is it the font?

Something to do with groupings or something. While the graphic on the screen looks fine, I've done something horribly wrong. The cutter cuts the wrong stuff! It's cutting through letters and other various things. See if anyone here can figure out where I screwed up? Warneymk2.ai Warneymk2.ai
  4. Ok, this has just started happening, and I certainly didn't start playing with any options. Signcut is making weeding lines of it's own! Doesn't matter if I open a EPS file I've downloaded or import a design from Illustrator CS3 - it does it everytime. This is why I'm putting it down to Signcut. So I opened a fresh EPS, did a print preview, saw the lines there, closed the preview, went to edit > delete all weeding lines, opened back up in print preview again annndd.....BAM - still there. Now I swear I haven't changed a damn thing since I used it last, and no one else uses this box. So far I've: turned off ALL the settings in the printer area - same problem turned everything back to default - same problem Annnddd... found the problem. I'm still gonna post. Never know when someone wants the info. Click on "Tile Frame" Uncheck "Distance Frame" All fixed.

Cheers Skeeter - sure am dry. Pitched in to help the unfortunete though, so karma feels good to me. Have now run into a different problem with my cutting software...time for a new post. In the Signcut section. lol. I cna't catch a break today.

Point out what I did wrong!

I totally agree with the "learn by doing" concept that many forget these days. I was just hoping someone could point out where I went wrong in my construction of the sticker so then I could remember for next time. The one thing I find out about doing rastering is that it does lose a bit of the quality. I guess there's some tweaks in Illustrator that I'm missing out on. Funny thing is - I'm doing this for a mate, and he's paying me with a 6 pack. So whenever you guys are in Brissy, Australia - drop me a line and I'll shout you a beer.

Nah nothing is ever easy guys I'll give what Jay said a shot. Someone sent me a PM saying I should of "welded" which may of been a step missing in the instructional guide I read on here. So I'll look into that one too. Thanks guys.

Yes, that would be the easy thing to do if it was easy. Which it isn't.

    Creating a flag "waving"

Ok, I've searched around the instruction section and a few others trying to find what I'm after. Is there something you can do with illustrator where you have your rectangle, and warp it to make the single wave in a flag? I've been plodding around, just can't find it.

  12. Ahoy - I've got a Refine 751MH cutter...has been running well for a year. Just lately on big cut jobs, it seems to be creeping forward during cutting. When it comes time to do the weeding lines (lets say on a 50cm long job) it's creeped forward on the vinyl about 2cm. So the weed lines are cutting into the product. Not sure why it's doing it either. Some details: Windows XP Adobe Illustrator as editor Sign Cut X2 as cutting software The cutter runs over SERIAL cable, not USB or anything.

    Refine cutter - creeping?

Thanks guys - turned out to be a bevvy of problems. 1. Loose grips 2. Blunt blade (but it was cutting fine...ish) 3. Gunk hiding on a guide.

    Refine cutter - creeping?

Done. Nothing side to side, feels very tight back and forth.

    Refine cutter - creeping?

Yup, gave em all a good couple of turns. Gonna suck cause the knobbled roller underneath is pointy enough to leave marks on the vinyl.

  18. Ahoy folks. I reckon a few people would be interested in this - seems that theres some Patriot owners out there that have been after these insert stickers! Here's a pic: I actually want to make one for my own car, but it's driving me bananas. Can't seem to get the spacing right or the text half the time. Hoping someone out there might have a hook up? Vectorising troubles!

I've got a logo to put on my car, but it's giving me some major hassles. Can't seem to get the drawing just right - always seems to have bumps or something in a place I don't want. Then, when I move the node to get rid of the bump, the whole design goes up the pooper. Anywho - appreciate someone helping me figure out whats gone wrong, prehaps have a few tips to make it easier in the future. Files are in http://hosting.streetconcepts.com.au/designs/scasign/ I put my made EPS in there too.

    Vectorising troubles!

Thanks but yours has the same problem in lettering as mine did. Maybe more-so. Think I might have to go back to drawing board.
