Can Inkscape Separate a Vector Into Layers Like SCALP?

If you create multiple layers you can then just move items from one to another without the need to copy and paste. Select the object you want to move then hit Shift+Page Up or Shift+Page Down to move the object to the next layer above or below.

New to Vinyl cutting and Signblazer

I think that may vary depending on OS. I can plug it in when the PC is on, so long as I plug it into the same USB port it works just fine.

    Does Anybody Have This Panther

It's a common high school logo, there has to be a vector of it out there someplace, probably part of some collection. Pretty sure my HS used that exact one on lots of things.

Signblazer can do a conversion as well, although I never had any luck getting it to work right.

    image tag

Why is the tag blocked on this forum? It'd be nice to link to images on other sites with out the need to save the image and upload it to this site. I'm guessing there is a reason, I'm just curious as to what it is.

    Wester Mine Tool co. Redo

I think I'd either get rid of the shadow on the text, or make the shadow dark enough that it appear inside the oval. Or maybe add a shadow to the oval to give the appearance that the oval and text are on the same level. As it stands, I see it as the text outside of the oval is on a higher level than the text inside the oval. Which could be the effect you're going for, but to me it just doesn't feel right.

Oh yeah, I forget about that option, it doesn't work for me from my work. I'll have to see if it works from home.

I think the problem is they are too pointy and symmetrical. I think something more like the nose holes of this one would work better. http://comps.canstockphoto.com/can-stock-photo_csp6996795.jpg

can someone help me identify this font

Needs some work, but here's a decent start. What I did was open the image in a photo editor and made it a simple black and white image then did an auto trace in Inkscape with the smooth corners option set to 0.75. symbol.svg

Is that the skull they currently use? If not I'd look for something else, that one looks like it has buck teeth.

I like the coal cart idea. If they want to keep the longhorn design, put it on the side of the above coal cart.

16min, very impressive. Would of taken me at least an hour and probably still wouldn't of looks as good.

    removable vinyl

631 can be removed and reused a few times but care has to be taken when removing it. I use it to "tape" up my headlights on my bike for track days. I can usually reuse it half a dozen times before it looses too much sticky.

oracal 810 on drywall (spray mask)

When I've done typical house painting, if you put the tape/paint mask down, then paint the edges of with the original wall color, let it dry, then go back and paint the new color it will virtually eliminate all bleeding.

  16. That's how I would do it. Good photo, take some measurements for reference, manual trace, cut the piece and see how it fits then adjust as necessary.

I've been requested to etch it into acrylic and edge light it. She hasn't decided if she wants it as a sign or a desk stand but she plans to use it as kind of a night light.

Never mind. Found a good one that I could trace with relative ease and only minor node editing. I think it'll work for what I need.
  20. Not knowing anything I would think making something like this for yourself would be ok, it's a pretty simple idea, magicians have been using the technique for decades. So long as what you build isn't exactly like theirs I would think you'd be ok. Again, I don't actually know anything just going off of common sense, then again, this is the law we are talkingn about.

Have you tried searching for it? Some where on this site is the entire country with all the states. Just do a search.

    Vinyl Application Question

Plastic doesn't work with a wet install, you have to use paper.
  23. As I understand it the AirPort USB connection is for printing only and not a full implementation of USB protocol. You might try a wireless USB hub that supports the full protocol such as something like this from IOGEAR, http://www.iogear.com/product/GUWIP204/. Another option would be to get a cheap computer with a wireless card in it and put it next to the plotter then just remote into the computer to send your cut jobs to the plotter.

    importing

Did you try opening it, or importing it. They are not the same thing in SignBlazer. SB can only "open" SB files but it can "import" ai, eps, and a few others I think.

What program are you using that has a send to SB button?
