And color, I do recall seeing some higher end plotters that held 3 or 4 pens.

Advertising the cutter as a 28" cutter is a bit deceptive. True, it can fit 28"s of material, but the cutting area is only about 24".

Here's a quick manual trace, not entirely happy with the cutouts in the handle portion but not too bad. I also didn't blunt the scissor tips. I like the look of the sharp point better. scissors.eps

Dave, Actually if you install a pen in it, it becomes a plotter.

Are you putting your vinyl/paper in the cutter so the edge of it is against the edge of the cutter? If so, don't. Line the edge of the vinyl/paper up with the blade, with a bit of a margin.

Could be a dozen things. probably best to start a new topic asking for help. Be sure to identify cutter, software, and type of connection between cutter and computer. It may also be helpful if you can post the file you're trying to cut.

You don't want the machine actually pulling the vinyl and unrolling it. Puts too much strain on the machine and can affect tracking. I set the roll on the rollers on the machine and then unroll how much I'll need and let it hang.

I'm confused what you're asking for, is jetson and brushstroke the name of the font, or they name of the hat? If it's the hat and you can't post an image, how about a link to the hat online?

I use to ride to relax. Track days were a great break for me. Get away from everything and focus only on riding and having a good time with friends.

I'm assuming the white paint is on the inside? if so, just paint the black over it, you will still see the white on the outside and the black will block the light. Or put up white vinyl rather than pain.

how to cut vinyl allowing for curve of yeti tumblers
darcshadow replied to jderry1978's topic in General discussion
For glasses that have a consistent angle they are actually a truncated cone and there are equations to figure out the surface shape. Attached is a spreadsheet I use to get the measurements of a template. I then divide the template into 4 sections and try to keep the design within one section. When you look at a glass, you are really only seeing about a 1/4 of it,maybe a 1/3 so if your design is bigger than that you have to rotate the glass to be able to see the entire image and can start to look unprofessional. There are also some web pages out there that will create the template for you, you just plug in the info. I never had much luck with them, and prefer doing my own templates anyway. Once you get the curve you then distort your image along the curve. I use Inkscape so I don't know how to do that in Flexi but someone should be able to chime in. *note, simply putting the text on the curve will not give you a true image reproduction, but will look pretty good in most cases and will at least make the text look straight. Inconsistent cutting depth/deep roller lines
darcshadow replied to MetalHeadGraphix's topic in VinylMaster CUT, LTR, PRO & DSR
Is the blade holder being held straight? My MH the holder arm had a problem and would not hold the blade holder straight up and down. Wouldn't think it would cause the problems you're seeing, but worth looking at. -

Maybe need a new cutting strip? Sounds like the edges are worn down more than the middle. -
VinylMaster vs. Signblazer
darcshadow replied to jbthrock21's topic in VinylMaster CUT, LTR, PRO & DSR
Don't know anything about VM, but with Signblazer and Inkscape there isn't much you can't do, just a matter of learning how to do it. Every design program has it's own way of doing things, some are easier to pick up than others. Inkscape is free and a pretty powerful tool. The only thing I've noticed that Inkscape doesn't do well is font manipulation, signblazer actually does a better job at that. -
Imperial vs metric is not the point. If you can't read 1/16 on a tape measure, you'd have the same problem reading 1/10 on a metric tape measure. It's not the not knowing how, that is the problem, it's the not being able to figure it out. If you can't figure out that the big line in the middle of the two numbers is the 1/2 mark or the slightly smaller line in between the 1/2 and the number is the 1/4 mark, than that is sad. Has nothing to do with being taught how to read a tape measure, it's basic 3rd grade math.
-
Blade depth is most likely the problem. Correct that then try again.

In high school I worked for a local contractor and after the first week he gave me a small raise because I could read and understand a tape measure better than most all high school kids he had hired in the past. He made a comment to my Mom how impressed he was with my ability to measure and do basic math on the spot. So sad.

What did you try in Inkscape? I just did an auto trace and the result was very reasonable for an auto trace, little clean up and it's be good to go. This is also a relative simple design, it would not be that difficult to do a manual trace/rebuild. Realize you may not of had time to dig into it, but when you do have time, this would be a pretty good image to learn on.

Having trouble with my USCutter MH Series 721 Mk2
darcshadow replied to elmeroperez's topic in General discussion
sounds like either static issues, or wrong driver. I don't have Make the Cut so can't help there. You could always download the free SignBlazer cut program, it works with the MH Series.- 2 replies

Found this page that mentions mirroring, but the graphics are not loading here at work so I really don't know how helpful the page is. Do you have the manual for art cut? This link looks like that is all it is, just a web version of the manual. http://www.ibsflightcases.com/ibsuniversity/artcutmanual.html

Some Google searching is coming to the same conclusions you posted, the software is junk. I'd suggest downloading SignBlazer and use it.

Ah, so it's not that they don't want the average Joe using it off purpose, they don't want the possibility of the average Joe using it on an aircraft.

MH 721 - not closing cuts
darcshadow replied to Vermonster's topic in USCutter Refine Cutting Plotter Discussion
I don't believe the MH series has an overcut option built in. Don't think they have offset either, or if they do, I never found it.
