  1. No longer using my Plotter. Bought from US Cutter in 2013. Excellent condition and 3 cutting heads plus pen plotter head. Many new extra blades and vinyl. I used it to make stencils for temporary airbrush tattoos. Of course it's on a stand and has the rollers in the back to support the vinyl. US Cutter says a brand new in the box, never opened sells for $900. Used are $200-$300 less. I live in the Seattle area and if we don't have to hassle with shipping costs we'll both be ahead. Thanks!

Paco I tried that. The max size already prescribed does not leave enough margin. I got it to do what I needed by doing the steps listed below. Some I found on the net and some was just a WAG. Comments on this solution would be appreciated. 1.Go to Settings…Tiles 2. In the width column…the one on the right 3. Increase the distance on the right side…the width side. 4. Uncheck Distance Frame. 5. Select OK. 6. Goto Cutter 7. Select Preview 8. You should see the image with a box around it. 9. If the ‘edge’ of the box is not big enough or is too small go back to #3 and change the size

Tried some more stuff. No luck! The problem is the "Normal" margin around the graphic would be fine for vinyl. I need a much larger margin for stencils. How do I do that. Is it in Inkscape or is there a setting on the plotter or SIgncut. Using a Copam 2500. Thanks again.

I'll check that but the way I see the 'weed' lines are extra lines through the center of the non used media to make weeding easier. I just need a larger border around the object I want cut. I need about 1" on all 4 sides of the object. In case I didn't say clearly what I needed. And what does 'origin' on the cutter mean? For you advanced folks sometimes you gotta go a bit slower for the newbies. I have used tons of software for a long time but it appears there is little that is intuitive in the editing software. Doesn't seem to follow the conventions of other software. Ex. In signcut there is no delete in the file section. Somehow you are supposed to just know that when you open a new image the old one is replaced so delete is not necessary. Heres' another one. How do I get the 'line' not the 'fill' in Inkscape to do white. I can get it black and sometimes green but have rarely got it into the white. I use that to eliminate some of the image when fine tuning it. Thanks.

Never have dealt with such confusing software before. I have finally designed and exported a drawing in Inkscape as an .eps file. Have it imported to signcut and, using a pen, can see that it draws what I designed. However, it's saving vinyl and the area cut out surrounding the image is so close to the image itself that it would not work for a stencil because of over spray. Please...how do I increase the area surrounding the image so I can cut a usable stencil that allows enough area away from the image so it can be used as an airbrush stencil and reduce the possibility of over spray?

Here are the files. First try in uploading them. Hope they get there. Thanks for everyone's help. firetry1.svg firetry2.eps

Mx2 stay with me on this. Still stumped. Does the same thing every time. When I open SB one of the boxes in which the 'cut' file is named is totally black. I look at that file and it says it's a eps. I import into SB, can see it, but when I tell the cutter to cut it I get a dialog box which says I'll lose some data because it can see a bit map and then states it can't print it as it's a bitmap.

I finally did it one time after I reloaded all the software. However, this AM, I am doing the same thing wrong. Yes! I deleted the original and saved the vector. Then I did a save as and selected EPS. When going into the folder and looking at that file it says it's a PVW, not an EPS. Why?

Thought I did. Maybe I deleted the wrong one. But one time I used the node tool and saw all the nodes so it must have vectorized. Read somewhere else on the forum advice to remove both SB and IS and then re install, after a lot of suggestions and attempts at help which didn't improve anything. So...just got rid of both pieces of software and am going to reload them and try again.

Again... I did save it as an EPS file. Opened SB and selected import and it shows the squares of the items you saved in Inkscape but they are solid black. I can see the choices with different file names but the ones that I saved as an EPS type are totally black. I tried to load them into SB anyway and after I follow the prompts, nothing happens. Still at a standstill until I get past this.

Thanks for that url. But...it stops short of telling you to save both a SVG and an EPS file. I did save it as an EPS file. Open SB and select import and it shows the squares with different file names but the ones that I saved as an EPS type are totally black. I tried to load them anyway and after I follow the prompts, nothing happens.

Really! I have been trying for a couple of long sessions to import a SVG file I made in Inkscape into SB. I can open the folder the SVG image is in and can see it and several other files. However, when I open SB and go to import and then look for the image within the saved folder, SB sees zero files. Doesn't see JPG, TIF, or the SVG. I did use the search function and can't find any info related to this specific problem. Help would be apreciated. I can go no further until I get that image into SB. Thanks.
