Need help with corel and opening in flexi?

ive had the same problem. i use corel x3 but the problem is the same. the best way i have found to fix it is to export out of corel as an .ai than import the .ai into flexi. it imports nice and smooth, they way you designed it.

Paint spray mask and application tape

i use averys paint mask, and never had any trouble with it. and as for masking i typically use the signwarehouse brand(high tack). but ive used many other brands and havent had trouble with any of them. so i just settled with the cheepest.

    Anyone cut ghost flames?

what do you mean by that.ghost flames are flames that you dont see unless you really look at it. like matte white flames on a white vehicle. is that what you mean.

    Cutting down a roll

ive done it using a band saw and it worked great. ive also used a chop saw. the chop saw worked but the edges were a bit rough.
  6. i had the exact same problems. no matter what i did or who i spoke with i couldnt get the usb to work. so, in my opinon the best thing to do is if your computer has a free pci slot, go get yourself a serial pci card. the computer will see it as a serial port and you can use the cable that came with the plotter. hope this helps chris

mounting a banner onto an awning

ive done somthing like that before; the awning wasent as big as the one you show, but it should still work fine. i just got banner material big enough to cover the entire awning. then i put a ton of gromets around it(every 5 or 6 inches). then i used self tapping screw and washers and than just screwed it to the back side of the awnings frame. i screwed the bottom on first and then stretched it over the top so that it was nice and tight. hope this helps. chris

    Trailer for a friend

    looks great ..good job
  10. im thinking about adding sublimation printing(shirts, hats, etc..) to my currant business and have a few questions. ~are there any off brand companies (like us cutter) that sell a sublimation printer? all the printers ive looked into are rather pricy and id like to start out on the cheeper side if i could. incase it dosent work out. ~can i just buy sublimation inks to run through my regular inkjet ~i was figuring on getting the us cutter 6 in 1 heat press for it. it may be a dumb question, but will that be good or does a sublimation heat press require anything different? ~and i guess most importantly, is there a big enough maket for it to merit putting money into it? any info is greatly appretiated ~chris~

nicely done. those edd hubbs videos are a goldmine of information. ive been airbrushing for a few years now and still use his videos as a referance. he has a great video on painting a realistic carbon fiber. good luck, and keep posting your work. chris

    printing on vinyl

there are special vinyls for printing on. all the major vinyl companies supply them. i use the oracal orajet series. you do not "need" to heat set it but it does help. heat setting makes for a sharper image. when you heat set it what happens is the pours in the vinyl open up and absorb the ink better making it more permanant and prevents the drops of ink from spreading(when the ink spreads to far you dont get as shap of an image). what i ment by laminating is that after the image prints and is allowed to dry you apply a layer of whats basiclly clear vinyl over the print to protect it from fading and scratching. ive never herd of tried to use sublimation inks though. so im afraid i cant help you on that.

    Pat from Maryland

in my expierence the best way to get business doing vehicle graphics is to put together a good design and graphic up your vehicle. i did that and i also do mass mailings and internet advertising. but i get the most business off of people seeing my truck and asking me questions about it. good luck man. chris

    printing on vinyl

i take it your talking about regular vinyl, and not the digital print stuff.. everyone has told me that you cant but i recently tried it at my day job(a print shop) and it worked just fine. i printed on some white oracal 651 with a mutoh value jet using eco solvent inks. you can see a difference between the image on regular vinyl and the digital stuff but its not that big of a difference. but you will have to laminate it, it scratches off allot easier. hope this helps you. chris
