    Etching an ipod

ok one more question... whats a good psi to start at? My cabinet says 100psi max. but i wouldnt think it would take that much power right? I mean the small air erasers only take 20psi or so to operate, anyone have a good starting point for me?

    Etching an ipod

So I searched here and on google and can't find an answer. We have just started to do etching with aluminum oxide and have had great results so far on glass and mirrors. I have a question though for anyone on here that is somewhat experienced in this medium.... Is it possible to etch my sons name into the back of his iPod touch using aluminum oxide? I wanted to ask here before I just went and tried it, just incase someone has some words of wisdom since I really don't want to jack it up and have to buy my son a new $300 ipod!

    Sandblasting!

I have a question about the sandblasting cabinet I recently purchased, hopefully one of you can help me. So I hooked it all up and everything is great except one small thing..... I'm using AO and it doesn't like to fall back to the bottom of my harbor freight cabinet to recycle through the hose. I have to shake the whole cabinet while my arms are inside the gloves to get some of the AO to slide down to where the hose is so I can continue to blast the glass or mirror. Anyone ever run into this issue? Is there something I'm missing here? Thanks in advance.

    Boating Season

I've had some of my decals applied to boats, never as numbers or that far close to the water, are you using oracle 651? If not what are you using? I don't have experience with lettering boats that's why I'm asking.
  9. Yeah.... We need one or two of those!

    Jiffy Shirt

I use jiffy sometimes and the only problem I've ever had with them was once they shorted me a shirt, and another time one came that looked like it was dropped on a filthy warehouse floor. Considering I've ordered from them over 100 times (I'm guessing), I continue to order from them. I like the fact that there are no minimums and they do offer a good size of selection. Oh and I usually get my order within 24-48hrs depending on what day I order.
  11. Hey everyone, I have a question that someone here that's more facebook friendly than I am might know the answer to. Ok so here's the situation, I have a former customer that has since bought a heat press and vinyl cutter and are now trying to take customers from me. Now for the most part I'm not worried as they obviously have no clue what they are doing, however they are on my facebook page and stealing all of our ideas, pictures, and setting their prices by our prices. So my question is, is there a way to block someone from my business's facebook page? They have "liked" our page and I can't for the life of me find out how to make them disappear lol.

    First decal ever

I was thinking monogrammed wine glasses and things like that would sell good. I've learned women love that kind of stuff.

    First decal ever

Thanks for the reply! Yeah I went ahead and got some things at HF. I bought the air eraser and a decent small compressor with some extra accessories. I've been playing with it over the past few days and I like it a lot. I made a box out of a clear plastic box I bought at Walmart, although I still didn't like the outcome of my box so I got on eBay and got a sandblasting cabinet for $105 with shipping included. Hopefully it works out. I've made a few glasses and a mirror just as practice, the air eraser seems to take a long time to do because I have to keep stopping to refill the aluminum oxide, so the cabinet I ordered comes with a gun included so hopefully it will quicken the process. Thank you to everyone who has commented on this post, I believe because of this post, I have found yet another product to sell to put food on the table.

A couple cars I have done....

Looks great, I have a theory that people who have weeded vinyl can spot things like the skulls you're talking about a lot easier than a customer who has never sat for 5hrs weeding a gigantic vinyl job to make sure all of the pieces are out of it. My wife weeds all of our work and she can spot a mistake as soon as I hand her something that I looked at for a good 2 minutes to make sure it was good.

Question about business page on facebook....

Wow, great post. Yes I do have screen shots of their page, and thanks to all that responded I now permanently banned their personal account and their business account. Me personally, I know that by looking at their work, they can't compete with us but I'm worried that in our area they will screw up the business. Meaning that they will screw customers over with bad product and in the end people will be hesitant to order from us based on that they have been screwed over by them. My wife on the other hand is mad beyond belief because these people were our friends, and she saw on her own personal facebook timeline where they had contacted other people who are our customers and friends and are trying to lure them away. I know the quality of work will sell its self, so I have no worries there. What I don't like is that they are stealing our pictures, ideas, and our prices. Thanks guys, maybe it's time I go get a lawyer and type up some C&D's for this and future use. I knew this would happen eventually, just never thought it would be someone we used to consider a friend.

how do you save your graphics?

I like to save mine as .png seems to be a little crisper, but if I'm sending it to a client for a preview I'll save as .jpg since usually everyone knows what to do with those
  18. Sweet quote! I need to make this into a shop sign lol
  19. I hate no shows and non payments. Absolutely hate them. I have probably $600.00 worth of material (shirts, signs, banners, etc) from when we first started that I use for samples to show people our work....they all came about from no shows and non payments. The $600 was my cost, not the final price so actually the items add up to more lost money on my end. My wife handles all the money and payment arrangements and she now makes people pay up front and tells them that after XX days if they're not picked up it will become cleaning rags or whatever cleaver thing she can come up with lol. Sorry to hear about your $200, but on the bright side at least it wasn't $1000+ or something that would put you out of business. I wish you well in receiving your money.

    Getting the hang of etching

looks good. from the looks of the picture, to me it looks like you placed the cross well. You said you wish you would have raised it, but it looks like you maybe had about an inch or so until the glass bends. In my opinion you placed it well enough, I doubt that cross would look good on a bend.
