Graphtec auto advance after cut?
jumpink posted a topic in GraphTec Cutting Plotter Support Requests
I have checked the manual and did a google search but came up empty. Does anyone know if it is possible to set the cutter to advance a specified distance after the cut is complete? Thanks in advance -

A customer contacts me asking if I can make two signs to go on their rear windshield. They already have an eps of their logo. Easy two color job. She also asks if I can make an hours sign for her store. We agree on a price for everything, she pays with PayPal, I make her signs and ship them to her. She emails me that she is super sad the decals were made to go on the outside of the glass. She says "Everyone I had reached out to was a deal inside the window looking out... These decals will not last very long on the doors or windows being its so hot.. I was under the impression the vinyl was on the inside not to be tampered with. Let me know if there is anything we can do." How would you respond?

How would handle this?

Thanks guys for the input. I explained to her about about standard procedures and the hazards of installing on the inside of the glass. I offered to redo the whole job (8 linear feet of vinyl) at cost plus shipping. Going forward, I guess I should explain up front the vinyl is cut for the outside of the glass. -
I would like to see what you guys have found to be your best methods for getting vinyl work. I have had good success with going door to door with my business cards and talking with people. If you go door to door do you carry a portfolio of your work?

I live in a medium sized town about 50 min outside of New York city. I haven't been doing this long enough to be able to rely on word of mouth or referrals. I started placing coroplast signs around the town to stoke up some business. My most successful ways of getting business have been finding trucks, trailers and vans with no signage and soliciting them.

Wondering what thickness you use for magnetic vehicle signs, 030" or .045" thickness?

I have to install some vinyl this weekend. The text has a drop shadow. I have seen differnt ways that others lay a drop shadow and I wondered if one way was superior to the other? I have included an image to better explain. The top numbers have a drop shadow and an outline that encompasses the red letters. The red letters would most likely be layered ontop of the drop shadow vinyl. The bottom image has the drop shadow outside of the red letters seperated by a small space. No layering is necessary. Do you guys/gals have an opinion as to which method is better and why, or does it come down to design preference?

I have a potential customer who has several vans he wants lettered. Vinyl measures 7.5 sq ft each side single color relatively easy weed. He wants an RTA price and cost for install. I know what I want to charge him but I was unsure if I should offer some type of discount for multiple vehicles. Any ideas?

I want to give a warranty for the installs that I do. Not sure what length of time would be adequate but not excessive. Wondering what you offer if any? Thanks

Might I ask what the new trick you learned was? -
Do you give a warranty on your installation?

That makes sense, thanks for the input. -

Thanks for the responses. Do you use app juice with 751 or do you prefer to apply dry?

Sorry I should have mentioned that it is going on a white truck. One more question, I am going to use Oracal 751. I have only used 651 and I like the way it handles. Can I expect anything different from the 751?

If you are going to sub your banner out, may I suggest contacting Bannerjohn first. If you are not aware, he is a member in this forum. I have used him for banner work and I was very happy with the price, final product and turn around time.

I have a customer that wants a double sided blue banner 12" x 36" with the word welcome in white letters. Every banner I have made, I purchased presized. I am not sure I can even buy a presized banner this size. It might be high time to learn how to cut my own sizes, hem and grommet. Any suggestions on what road to choose?

Yes I do! Thanks John for the exceptional service.

Do you get a good amount of traffic in front of the store? How do you find the walk ins to be?

I have a marina that wants 3"x5" hard plastic signs with vinyl #'s from 1 to 100(negative weed) Went to Lowes to look at acrylic sheets. Cost comes out to be $.60 per sign Is there a better solution than cutting an acrylic sheet? And what would you charge for a job like this? Thanks
