    my issue

i have been trying out this whole sign thing for awhile and have been really lucky to find images already in eps or cdr format. i have tried numerous times to work with inkscape trying to vectorize any images with no success, i am down to my last wits with this logo. my wife want me to put a few graphics on her windows in her car and a few signs at our campground but can't get a clean cut. i try different approaches but the cut is jagged or wont cut at all. please help
  7. Cutter is packed up and ready to ship... I know how to install the blade holder to the pen block... The pen block is the device which houses the motor for the cutter to gown down and up when cutting... The pen block is attached to an aluminum bar that has the blue markers indicating were the grit rollers are at..... Place your hand on the pen block.... It will move freely left and right.... And should be snug to not move up or down or in and out... Mine moves a lot up and down causing the blade to push away from the media when the blade and blade holder are down against the media..... Does this all make sense? Warranty is going to repair defective pen block, replace teflon strip, and replace broken blade..... Just have to ship it to service..... Which cost $44 one way.... Graphtec will pay return shipping
  8. Purchased a ce5000-60 from us cutter two wks ago, been having trouble from day one. Could not get a clean test cut, cutting blade would chatter on the vinyl. Chipped original blade and also a new clean cut blade and the Teflon strip is mangled. The blade depth was always set correctly at all times. I had enough..... Called graphtec today to ask if my pen block was supposed to be tight or float on the carriage it rides on. Tech support said tight and sent me a video......... My pen block moves about an eight of inch up and down on the fixed carriage, mine is not tight. Really aggregated because I either have to ship or drive an hour 1 way both on my own dime to have the cutter looked at by an authorized service center. Anyone ever heard of this or put in a warranty claim

intro into the world of vinyl cutting

Thanks for the info,,,, time to view the graphtec literature
  10. good day to all, this is my first post on uscutter forum and damm glad to be here. just gonna make this short and sweet. i am looking at buying a starter kit titled BASIC DECAL SHOP and upgrading to the Roland gx-24 machine. any thoughts if i am buying to much or not enough. this is my intro into the vinyl cutting world on the cutter side of the business. yr's ago i was a consumer for race car applications. i am looking at this as a side business along with my full time job, basically a small home based business catering to my son's school(private) and to the many parents that are small business owners and from my old racing buddies looking to curve their cost of car lettering. i have about $3500 that i can put into and willing to spend that much on great equipment. i don't want to buy OK equipment and fight with the problems associated with cheaper cutters thanks for the reply's
