    Another etching i did today

What is the etching media you are using (if you are ok to share)? I like how you added the 'depth' on the edges (I assume you added the inline layer to the object). Very nice work.

    First try at blasting

Nice Detail. Are you using silicone carbide or another media? Next step to try is 'mutli-layer' blasting. will give 3D effect. Enjoy
  3. Guess I have the 'how' it operates reversed. Thanks for the reply. With that cleared up, what would be causing the coil to remain 'energized' causing the 'slicing' during travel (non-cutting movement command)?
  4. I'm experiencing possibly the same cutting error but do not believe its related to blade height. My 'extra' slicing occurs as a result of the spindle not retracting all the time in the 'travel' mode of the cutting sequence. I am referring to travel mode as the expected 'non-cutting' travel of the head to a new position or returning to 'home/start' position. The coil should energize and 'lift' the spindle during that motion. Sometimes it acts normal, sometimes not. A good example of the error occurs when I'm cutting duplicate objects. I will get slicing as it moves to start the next object and then may get a slice when the entire tile is complete, slicing all the way across the vinyl as it returns to lower left. Frustrating as it ruins your job. My initial diagnosis is the coil is working intermittently. Any ideas would be 'extremely' appreciated (I repay by sharing some cool files I've created)

    Vertical Lettering

    Oh ya! Thanks neighbor!

    Vertical Lettering

Ok. That is the 'simple' solution. How do you modify the 'kerning' (letter spacing)? Sample a m p l e Any thoughts, solutions, ideas?

    Text Fill command

Yup. That was fast. You must be at work, LOL.

    Text Fill command

Does Signblazer have a command that will fill an object with selected text? An example would be an outline of a fish and the text 'fits' within the contour.
  9. So here is my 1st big project with my Laserpoint. I've done some big projects in my 'previous' life (military aircraft and all sorts of vehicles and signs), but this is my 1st 'commercial' gig. Did I mention is was below freezing when I applied these? I had to 'tent' it and use heaters. Brrrrrrr. This trailer is used in his business and for storing decoys during hunting season.

Sorry for the lapse. It's SKI season, ya know

I agree on the positive comments concerning USCutter equipment. For this media (die-cut) my Laserpoint performs as well, often times better, than some of the top shelf (re: $$$) equipment out there. I bought this last year with the only expectation that I could pay for itself by not allowing my wife to buy wall art retail and make it herself. The hobby has turned into a fledgling home business (tax advantage) due to the quality and more important, the ability to duplicate quantity and still retain quality. All due to the performance of such an inexpensive piece of equipment. I've used high $$ Summa, Ioline, and Gerber, even in the early DOS days of computers. None of them could 'duplicate' the detail of cut that I get with my cutter. Thanks USCutter and I'll do my part to keep you afloat during these tough times.

Small text is not so much fun :)

Have you tried removing the safety cap from the blade holder? When cutting small intricate detail, the cap will collect loose vinyl. I prefer the 45d blades for standard vinyls, the 60 I use for heavier (the plow, LOL) materials like resist and 'frosted' vinyls.

    IBurnClothing.com thanks USCutter!

How slow? I have same and run 60 speed @ 126 pressure. It cuts well overall but get occasional 'skips' (I'm assuming the blade forgets to reverse and 'back cuts'). what material are you cutting? Thanks in advance,

Need Feedback on Yard Signs - PLEASE!!!

Yard signs can be a good profit maker. Every corner seems to be growing them. It is a very inexpensive way to advertise and gets lots of 'eye balls' on them. Substrates are cheap. Keep in mind that established sign shops may have a large customer base but lots of overhead (buildings, employees) that all add into the costs. Running a biz out of your home takes advantage of resources you already pay for. Price at good value, make profit, and don't undercut your skills/talent. You offer a service that many need and will pay for. Make your quality and service what they expect and you will be over-flowing with work.
  15. Too funny. I had taken our system down for a month to 'remodel' the workshop. Set up the computer and cutter, could not comm with the cutter (same error as Kysmiley). Thanks for the good responses, got er' back up and running (yup, USB errors and reset from LP to PCut settings). Mad Max
