Laptop without serial port? Do you really need a KEYSPAN?
slice&dice replied to slice&dice's topic in Instructional Contributions
It's taking about the normal number of days, as the order (from eBay) was registered on the 13th (Monday) and shipped the 14th. That's only 10 days ago, and I'm hoping to see it arrive tomorrow or Friday. I'll be very happy of it succeeds in getting my laptop to communicate via serial. Fingers crossed. -

Haven't forgotten this thread -- the item is still in transit from China. -
Well, he didn't actually ask for it to be "redrawn" -- he asked what FONT is this. Theoretically, once the font name is discovered, he could type anything (Harold Davrickson, for example)

We can only hope that's the issue -- since it's a simple fix. The grinding noise gave me the clue.

My $0.02 ---- the grit roller could be loose on the spindle. There are a few set-screws that require an allen wrench to tighten them.

question on sign blanks

My GRIMCO catalogue lists the two-sided 3 mm. white MaxMetal (AKA diBond) sheets at around $65 (4x8) and they also supply the single-side white (mill-finished backing) material for about $55. The Alumacor 5mm. is $100. (and you also have to put a trim cap over each of the open-flute 4' sides) -

The "floating" cups are weak. Use two fonts, one for the WALLEYPALOOZA and another for the rest. Is that outlined text? Why?

That might be your problem right there. It's unlikely to be a glitch in the SC itself. -
Man, when I'm retired, no way will I be getting up at 9am, probably not before noon. Just out of curiosity, did you place the white letters onto a full black layer, or was the black shadow layer affixed in registration beyond the edges of the white?

mb20music, I wasn't being sarcastic. The assistance which was provided truly impressed me, and I felt that a positive comment was warranted.

Need Help Please...

"I'll give you my gun when you pry it from my cold, dead hands" In 2005, the phrase was parodied by The Onion in their "300th Anniversary" issue dated June 22, 2056. A small item on the page claimed: "Grave robbers pry valuable rifle from Charlton Heston's cold, dead hands." -

LOOKING for mason jars with colored lids.

Ooooohh, these are nice, with square sides, easy to apply decals. Standard ball-brand lids w/ straws should work.- 30 replies

Hmmmm, your photos looked like glass mason jars. Didn't realize they are polycarbonate. Have you checked the local Dollar stores? This eBay seller has a few dozen for cheap -- http://www.ebay.com/itm/25-PLASTIC-DRINKING-GLASSES-16-OZ-TUMBLER-LIDS-STRAW-/150953573347- 30 replies

This is actually an interesting thread, because drinking tea from a mason jar with lid & straw (or tumbler with lid & straw) is indeed very popular and there will be millions upon millions sold this summer Doing a search of the internet for more details, I've discovered that mason jar lids & straws are everywhere. The lid has a hole with a rubber grommet, that allows the straw to poke through, but it won't spill. On ebay, the lid/straw combo is offered for around $3 (ball brand) -- the jars are not included in that price. However, it's not so easy to find these colorful ones. ULINE doesn't carry them, and none are listed on ebay. The straws themselves in multi-colors are easily obtainable. I wonder if it's possible to just take the regular Ball brand lids and spray-paint them in these pastel colors? By the way, Pinterest has a page devoted to all sorts of Mason jar designs and re-purposing. https://pinterest.com/Gr8tGrl2No/mason-jar-delight/- 30 replies

Hi Keith, what are you attempting to accomplish? You want to wrap the car panels entirely with vinyl?

What's in that tea? My only suggestion would be to mirror the character, so he faces inwards instead of having his back to the body text. (and the foot wouldn't be touching the Graphix font). -
The font is COPPERPLATE.

looking for a job in a Signshop near Kissmmee or any City near Kissimme Florida??
slice&dice replied to carlytorres's topic in General discussion
While your effort here is to be applauded, perhaps a more localized job search would be more appropriate? Have you tried listing your "Resume" on craigslist? What about contacting sign shops directly within the area you're moving to? (Google search) Is there any possibility of just setting yourself up in business? (That's what I did) -
What to charge for simple 3 color decals?
slice&dice replied to jgeck90's topic in Business Practices, Sales and Pricing, etc.
I'd be at $4 each. (8" x1") My family and friends get regular pricing. They know I do this to pay my bills, same as everyone, so there is no point for them to cause me to take a hit on any profits. -

I didn't even consider this, but I sure hope the card is "plug&play" and the driver installs from Windows when I insert the thing. It's coming from Hong Kong, so I should have it in a few days.
