Chatter on left to right movement FIXED!
smokey13 posted a topic in Copam Cutting Plotter Discussion
Problem solved guys! Blade holder was actually worn at an angle and I guess it was dragging as the cutter pulled back. Put some 180 grit sandpaper on a block and twisted the blade holder on the corner of my workbench until it was true again. I then hit it with 400 grit then 800 grit. Cleaned the blade holder out with WD-40 then reinstalled blade with a drop of 3-n-1 oil in holder itself. Just cut 4 65 inch long by 24 inch wide graphics and they are as crisp as ever. I hope this helps ya'll out! Happy cutting! Gary I posted this in a reply on another thread. I'm thinking about making a jig to put in the vise so the blade holder can be trued up 100%. I guess running it for a long period of time with the vinyl rubbing against it just wears the blade holder. I did this with the same blade and same pressure settings, etc. so I know this was the fix! I'm tickled with the outcome! -
Figured it out! Not a SBE issue. Compound path in AI fixed it! Thanks for the help! Gary

I need some help guys. Just designed a logo in AI, ctrl+A to select all, ctrl+C to copy logo. I then switch over to SBE and shift+insert to paste logo. I size the logo, click cutter button and preview the cut. Everything is jumbled up in the preview screen (i.e. text from top is at the bottom, text from middle is top and bottom). What in the world? I have been doing this same method for a few years now and havent had this problem. Any ideas? Im using AI CS5.1 if that matters. Thanks, Gary

Any other ideas? Thought I had it figured out but its back to the same chatter again. -
Alright guys, I have a cp-2500 that I have been cutting with for a little over a year. Last week I was cutting several decals at one time and noticed that after the first design is cut the second gets off, third even more, etc. I put a piece of scrap in and ran through the cut again watching the material in the cutter. It almost looks like there is too much pressure and/or the blade holder is dragging on the material. I changed blades and oiled the holder but this hasn't helped. I'm cutting at 10cm/s with 20g of pressure and .25mm blade offset. Nothing has been touched setting wise since the first cut was made with the machine other than blade changes. The pinch rollers are adjusted the same on both sides (ran all the way in and backed out 3 rounds). Any ideas on my situation? I'm lost and running out of scrap vinyl for tests! Thanks for any feed back! Gary

Hey guys! I have been considering getting a tablet lately. I am curious if anyone is using a tablet and what apps are being used. I'm not sure if this has been done yet but it would be nice and convenient! Thanks Gary

Material puckers when cutting

Not sure I understand the vacuum fan deal. It seams that while cutting a fan does run on the copam machine. Located on the bottom side. Any input here? Looks to me like its a cooling fan kind of like a cpu tower has -

Please excuse the sideways cell phone video. Pay attention to what the vinyl does as the cutter gets closer to the top of the screen. Thanks guys -
Material puckers when cutting

Pinch rollers are over the grit rollers. There are actually flouresent green stickers above the grit rollers so you can line the pinch rollers up. Just did another cut and moved the pinch rollers in more. Same result. -

Oracal 651. Just ran another test cut backing blade off until it wouldn't cut the vinyl. Same issue. I'm baffled because it just happened all of a sudden. I've cut 6' long designs 20" tall with no probs -
Did you create the bull or download it? I like the design. Wanna post up the vector file? Thanks, Gary

Not interested in one for cutting. Mainly design work while traveling and the convenience of carrying something light weight when meeting clients.

Alright guys. I'm the type of person that can talk myself out of anything if I give myself enough time. I had my mind made up to get the Copam since I wasn't sure how much we would use it. (First project is a Late Model Super Truck) Since then I got a copy of Illustrator CS5 and have been playing with it. I have really enjoyed designing some vector logos etc and begin thinking...why not get just alittle better machine, if our racing budget will allow, and do some vinyl for others to fund this racing addiction. As of now it looks as though I will be able to swing a Zencut Green 24" but nothing any more expensive than that. So what would you do if you were in my shoes? Opinions, options, etc? Thanks for the read and for the help! Gary

Thanks edge and Jay2703. Not planning on contour cutting anytime soon but you're right it's still an option.
