    Hey Guys,

    It's been a while- hope everyone's doing well.

    I need to make a fresh batch of beef jerky, and spend a few hours (days?) catching up with what's been going on here.

    In the mean time though, I have a small job I'd like help with.

    Can someone give me pricing for printing the attached QR code in black on white vinyl?

    I want two @ 6"x6", and one @ 12"x12", with a .3" white border on all sides.

    You are squarely in the middle of an area of africanized bee influence.  They got started there about 15 years ago.

    I'd call the county extension office and ask their advise.  Honey bees are wonderful creatures, but if they pose a threat while you are just working around your place, that's not right.

    As I understand from a couple of the guys at work, the footprint of W7 is about the same as for Vista, so no additional bloatware, but much faster.  Reading some of the comments on user forums, there are folks reporting that they have it running fine on single core processors with a Gb of memory.

    I'll get her loaded up this week and report back with what I experience.

    Dan- what area of the country are you in?  I've worked with bees for years and not known anything other than african-tainted bees to be so aggressive and aim for "openings" in the face.  a number of africanized bee victims wer found with thier mouth, ears, eyes and nostrils full of bees.  Not pretty.

    Normal european or italian bees (which are the most common) are quite docile unless:

    - you bump into their hive

    - wear black, or dark colors around their hive

    - breathe on them- for God's sake, don't breathe on them!

    I think all that has to do with them thinking you're a predator (like a bear).

    I don't think they mind leaches too much though.  ;D

    If the bees are turning into a menace, you should talk to the owner about requeening the hives to settle them down or report the hive(s) to the county ext. svc. so they can have a constructive talk with the owner/keeper.

    OMG!  You guys are too funny.  Here I was stressing about getting an etching job finished tonight, decided to take a quick break and check the forum, now sitting here laughing so hard the dogs think I've totally lost it!  Don't think I've ever enjoyed a forum as much as I have this one....why, oh why, didn't I buy that vinyl cutter much sooner?

    This is too funny!  You guys are such a stitch!  I'm supposed to be getting a job installed, but I had to finish this thread before I could do anything else.  I'm not much for "chat speak" but, OMG LOL!!!

    A "Water Chupacabra"?  Oh my!... hilarious!

    It has my vote for being some sort of leach, but an "alien, glow-in-the-dark, inviso-leach" now that's a new one.  There's gotta be a "C" grade sci-fi movie in this somewhere.  REALLY!  If they can make this: 

    Then a movie about "mutant, glow-in-the-dark, alien, inviso-leaches", possibly from the planet Smeggula has to a natural (or un-natural).

    I don't know if I could sleep at night knowing those things were slinking around, glowing invisibly around my place, waiting for just the right opportunity to take over the world...

    Wheww!  (cathchng my breath)...

    Or- you could take one or two of the possibly diabolical critters to you county extension office.  They'd be able to tell you (or their untimely demise from a glowing, pulsating blood suckers would make a great scene in the up-coming movie)!

    It may take me another week though, I'd like to finish the cut jobs I have lined up already before I flirt with disaster.

    Hey Twister,

    Does any other device (mouse, thumb drive, inkjet printer) work from your computer's USB port(s)?

    You'll want to confirm port viability using something else if you can.  Apart from that, have you no DB-9 serial port on your desktop?  That would be a good option to use.

    I'll just boost the magnification and start sorting/cutting nodes out.

    I tried to use the outline/expand tool on it earlier, but when I'd apply it, parts of the image would disappear.

    Howdy all,

    Sorry I've been out of touch for a while, I finally was blessed and got a great job after almost a year of unemployment, and have been keeping my head down with lots to learn.  My schedule hasn't allowed too much for sign making, but now all of a sudden like, I have about 5 different new lettering/sign jobs to do.

    So, let me put down my home made beef jerky (yum!) and get to the point (thanks for the inspiration, the good recipe ideas, and thanks Haumana- for the initiative to ask the big "how do I?" question).

    I got myself a refurb'd HP Dv7 with Vista. 

    I installed SB Elements and downloaded a logo from brands o' the world and was quite please that it seemed to be perfectly usable; however, when I incorporated it into the graphics I wanted to cut, the end product had cut lines all through it as seen in the snap shot I attached.  As for the actual image, I have attached a copy of that as well.  To see the lines I'm talking about, select the object, then select View -> Outline/Wire frame and the lines show up as they were cut by my PCut.

    Any suggestions on how to remove / ignore the extra cut path lines?

    Yes , you're right.  They are our bodies (temples, earth-suits, whatever you wanna call them).  If we put junk in, it has to do damage control as well as build and repair itself, using substandard materials.  And, it can do that for a long time until the systems get jacked up and stuff starts going wrong.  It's an amazing machine.

    Yes, organic chicken is he way to go, or turkey, 'cause the poor dears can't abide the chemical tampering as well as chickens can, so- far less chemicals and such.  We have a small organic grocery chain here in the Denver area called Sunshine Market, and occasionally I can find organic, skinless and boneless chicken breasts for about 1.20 a pound!  So I stock up and freeze.  You might want to look into organic farmers in your area.  Many will sell directly to the public.  The inter-webs are a wonder thing.  :)

    Huh,

    I had created an account online with Fellers, so I could look at their pricing.  About a week later a sales rep from Fellers called to size me up, and told me about the free over $75 shipping.  I placed an order with them last week (my first) and what wasn't in the Denver location, they shipped in from Arizona, to my door, at no extra charge.  Works for me!  Maybe you need to hook up with a sales rep somehow.

    There are several flavor "foolers" my girlfriend and I use regularly.  One is I Can't believe it's Not Butter" in a spray bottle.  Zero calories, Zero fat, and negligible salt.  We just give our broccoli or other veggie a couple of sprays when we sit down to eat, and it's quite satisfying.  You'll find it in the same section as butter in the store. 

    Another cool category, is salad dressing spritzers.  These are pretty new to the market, and follow suit with the first item:

    Amounts listed are for 1 serving (10 pumps) for the Ranch vinaigrette I'm holding.

    Non-sat. fat: 1g

    0 mg. cholest.

    70 mg sodium

    1g carbs

    1g sugar

    These spritzers are great for seasoning chicken or pork (lean pork) prior to grilling, as well as for salads, and come in a variety of flavors.

    For baked potatoes, and baking, I use a 1/2 & 1/2 mix of salted organic butter and canola oil.  It has great butter taste, lots of beneficial oils and is low sodium too.  It spreads like a whipped spread.  Just get the butter to room temp (on the soft side) and combine with the oil in a mixing bowl.  Beat with a hand mixer until smooth, then pour into covered containers to pop in the fridge to store.

    I'm into body building, so I put as little (as Ms. MMM says) white food, or processed food into my body.  I make my own breads and pies using nothing bleached or refined.  Drink filtered water, and take a couple of 1000mg fish oil caps a day if you can, and a good fist full of mixed nuts each day (you know- cashews, pecans, macadamias, brazil, etc...).

    One more thing... if you drink milk and or half and half in your morning coffee or tea, please use organic milk products!  The hormones and antibiotics fed to cattle here are mostly fat soluble, so if you drink whole milk, or half and half, which are highest in fat content, they will also carry a high level of these chemicals too, if the milk is not organic.

    Hey Tom,

    First off: Welcome!

    If you've been prowling here for a little while, then you are probably learning a lot already.  The LazerPoint is a newer model from USCutter and it has its own following here (you can "tune in to their own discussion under "Model Specific Discussions" from the "home" page of the general forum.  To date there have been 1234 Posts under the Lazer point discussion, and 135 Topics discussed.

    Lots of us have 24" cutters.  It's a great size to do what you say you want to do, and you can make much bigger signs too... you just cut different sections as needed, and build them out, one at a time (or more).

    As far as the vinyl cutting & application "how it works" part happens in actual use, you'll find a world of info in the discussion section on Instructional Contributions:

    You can find a number of very helpful videos there from members on various aspects of sign and sticker making, from intro-type, to more advanced techniques.  You can browse "youtube.com" as well, searching for "vinyl", and you'll find more to watch.

    I know you're probably going to ask "What's a good price for this cutter?".  I'm sure there are a bunch of people here who know better than I do, so I'll leave that to them.

    Just ask, and you'll most likely get a thoughtful (if not smart-allecky :)) answer, as this is a very fun crew here.. lots of good folks who are willing to help.

    As S&G recommended: just "Stroll around the grounds, until you feel at home...", and have fun with it.
