tracking issues
coloradokev replied to sunsationaltintandgraphic's topic in Creation PCUT Cutting Plotter Discussion
I had some tracking issues for a while with a job running multiple runs of a 60" long graphic. I finally realized that I MUST have the vinyl fed dead-on straight into the cutter. It's easy to get it feeding at a slight angle, and that's where the travel comes from for me.. When I get it right, with the rollers about 1.5 inches from the edges of the material, it works like a charm. -
Uh-oh! PC630 Display showing blocks- not responsive

Thanks- Unfortunately I can't investigate this possibility just now, as I sent my PS to USCutter for replacement. I have high hopes that the new PS will correct the issue, but we'll see. -
Actually it says: "We will send one free sample pack per item requested per customer. *Only one sample pack per item per customer can be requested." So- one of each looks good to go!

I'm in! It worked fine this AM. Thanks!

Hi Tykite- thanks, responses in-line: quote author=Tykite Here is what you should do: 1. Make sure that the carriage is in the middle of your machine. Done. 2. Check and make sure that neither of them are pressed in. (Be sure, sometimes you think they are fine, but they are stuck in) Both appear to be at full extension, and have their usual "springiness". 3. Open your cutter, and make sure that the connections to the motherboard are firmly connected. All seemed to be secure and thermal glued appropriately form the factory. I went ahead and made sure they were seated however, along with any socketed chips. 4. If none of the above works, try moving to another outlet. Moved power to another outlet and then another circuit- no change. 5. When all else fails, give us a call at 425-284-2282 and we will see what else we can do. What are your support hours? Thanks, keep us informed Thank you for the quick reply, Kevin -
I'm interested in the same too-

Yes, thanks- Vinyl-Off = Good stuff! The steamer is a good idea too, 'speciaily since I have one already, but I think I'd only use it on vehicles.

Masonite is hard and slick on one side, and even better- fairly cheap. Makes a good bench top. You might just go to the Home Despot and have them cut a sheet of hard masonite to the dimensions of your current table and use that as a renewable work surface. When it gets all raggedy, just get a new piece. I am using a soft, interior door blank for my work table. When I need to, (which looks like it won't be long now) that's what I'll be doing.

Excellent! Thanks much for the post and the offer- I may take you up it. Have a great one, Kev

Sheesh! Sorry Ryn- I feel goofy now, I addressed my reply post to Daniel, instead of you... So, Ryn: Please read my post and insert *YOUR NAME* where it says Daniel. Thanks Kev

I like it! Simple layout and C L E A N... People only have to look at what they want to by selecting the appropriate Menu button, without having to hash through a lot of clutter (like Bannerjohn said). Care if I use a similar style? I have been working on mine recently, (also one of those templates) but after seeing yours, I think the format I am using is too busy! Thanks for posting- Kev

Woof! Daniel, thanks for posting. I know you posted with hope and pride of your accomplishment. I say good job- good beginning. As anyone with time on the intertubes knows, websites are ALWAYS in process, improving, but you have to start somewhere, and that's what you did. Good on you! I am working on my website now too, and believe me, it will not be perfect when I post it up here either and I will take the advise shared in this thread under thoughtful consideration as I work out the design and function. While perhaps not eloquent, Terry's comment was still valid, most websites can be improved, that's just how it is. Again, good effort, you're out there now! We are all learning together here. Kind regards, Kev

Where do you fit in?
coloradokev replied to Aardy54's topic in Business Practices, Sales and Pricing, etc.
In former life, I kept the computers and printers working for some friends who ran a full time sign business out of their barn. Off and on for years, I thought "that seems like it would be a great business to have". Getting fed up with IT/Support, I finally took the plunge and got my cutter and am looking forward to turning this in a good supplemental, if not primary producer. Haven't had my Pcut for a month yet, and already have made some decals for my friends, a couple of the schools in the area, and already have a couple or Real Estate brokers as customers- and with no advertising yet. I'm really looking forward to getting "my chops" down with the software and cutter and building my business. -
Welcome! You've' picked a great cutter and a great community to join.

Speaking of which, I have a 6' wide vinyl on painted plywood Subdivision sign I have to remove a logo and text from. It's in full sun, so getting it warm from here on out shouldn't be a problem. Questions: What's the best (spray on ?) product to use for removal? I've seen a few advertised, but what do you guys use/recommend? Kev

That's pretty cool! Thanks for posting both files.

the only things that drive me nuts are blister packs and women who expect me to buy them a car every time I marry one. I'm pretty close with John on this one, except I don't really mind buying the cars so much... it's just that they always want to keep them! K

Woo-hoo! I got my first job "out of the blue" making up some specialized signs for a real estate agent I know. They will go in the front windows of some of the houses he has listed. The question I have is: Is there some published guidelines as to the "proper" sizes for lettering, based on distance from the reader? So, if I'm in my car looking at a house from the street, what size lettering would you use on an in-window sign? The sample text I made up is 5" high. Any recommendations/insights? Thanks, Kev

Affirmative- Large red letters, lots of white space, between and around. Thanks

Hey Kenny- Welcome to a great crew! By the way chalk up another one, I'm a fire fighter too (in between departments right now).
