I don't think you're actually supposed to be fighting the fire in your grill, unless you like to cook REALLY hot! Like if you set a couple of old tires on fire in your garage and "smoke" your grillin's. Then, maybe.

Good luck with the old-timers! You'll have better luck teaching a ladder truck to climb a tree. Too funny!

Thanks guys, I was both a little apprehensive and pretty pleased with the application. I did it dry and it came out ok, but next one I do, I think I'll apply wet. On the sub-forum thing... yeah, that's what we need: another place for firefighters to hang out and swap stories! I was a volunteer with a neighboring town for about six years. I haven't been active for a couple of years now- been looking for a department I like, but all the departments around here are going paid. Glad I got my car graphics started though, and have something to contribute! Cheers- Kev

Hiya- I just completed this exercise this AM on my 20" iMac running tiger. I had an old panther image from my old powerbook I thought would work, but no-go. http://overstimulate.com/articles/installing-x11-on-os-x-10-4-tiger I found this and installation was flawless. I put in my install disk (disk 1), followed the simple steps. I restarted, and Inkscape came up with no problems. Now I just gotta figure Inkscape out! Hope this helps, Kev

Doh! It happened out of the blue today. I powered up my PCut and the fan whirred to life but no response from display- all blocks, no reaction from pressing any of the control panel buttons (other than a slight flicker in the character blocks). Neither of the limiter switches have been depressed, and I disconnected the PCut from the computer, just in case. Powered off and back on. No joy. So I guess I should take the bottom plate off and check the motherboard connections as indicated in other threads here, yes? Bummin', Kev -

Howdy! I just wanted to check in, and close this topic properly... I received my new (replacement) cutter yesterday afternoon. I unpacked it, connected it to power, and to the serial cable, and Voila! It came right up and I was cutting again within minutes!!! Thanks Ken, and everyone else for bearing with me through this. Now it's time to get some work and have some fun with this thing. Happy cutting, Kevin -

HOORAY! Thanks Ken! I'm so glad I can discard the note I was composing... I know you've been busy and stuff happens, I've just been "antsy" about this, since I have to start from scratch again building business once it's up and running again. I do appreciate the effort, and look forward to being productive again with the new cutter. Kind regards, Kevin -

Ken, Has the president been asked and has the clearance been given? My defective unit is in Portland, to be delivered to you tomorrow. If you get my new one out out today, via FedEx 3day ground, I can have it by the weekend (short week- long weekend). Again I ask- please, Kevin -

Hi Ken, The cutter is on the way (no blade holders, cables, software, manuals, stands, etc... just the cutter). RMA # 119 is marked clearly on the box. Fed Ex tracking number in seperate IM to you. Given the protracted disappointing process with this so far, can you please cross ship my new cutter after confirming that my defective unit is safely en-route? It would be fitting and appreciated if you would do this. Thanks, Kevin -

Ken- I still have the original packaging and have packed it up and it's ready to go. Please give me an RMA # and a preferred shipper if you have one. I've burned up so much time with this, I want to get something that works as soon as possible. Help me expedite this if you will. A very frustrated, Kevin -

No change in behavior from my first report to you of this problem: Display remains all faint solid character blocks. How soon can I get a new, complete, working cutter? I have the stand already. Kevin -

Hey Ken, Just got my new mother board, thanks. I have a question though... Before I disconnected the board, I took a picture of it so I could be sure to get it reconnected properly when the new one arrived. Unfortunately, the to cables shown disconnected along the bottom edge of the board as seen in the attached picture, (or left edge of board as installed on base plate of cutter) didn't appear in my orig. picture. One is labeled X and the other Y, which connector on the MB does each go in? I have my fingers crossed, hoping you can get back with me today and that the thing will finally work. Thanks again, Kevin -
Hey- I'm sorry to hear you've had a problem with SW. I too have made several purchases from SW. On my first order (through ebay) I had payment issues with their PayPal automation/checkout process (I use a Mac and Firefox wouldn't allow me to follow their step ny step instructions to complete the payment properly for some reason). Anyway, I called their customer service department and was very impressed with the effort they put into getting my order processed (read: very helpful). Since then, I have placed several order with them and have been quite satisfied with the products and the service provided. I am not a spokesperson for them, just a satisfied customer. The customer service people I spoke with (politely and patiently) are: Taffy Delgato (CS Mgr) and Marylynn Loyd (internet Sales) Perhaps you can send them the copy from the ad and specify what you want as compared to what you received based on that copy. Just a suggestion- Kev

Hey Ken- Ok, I'm finally back in Erie, and per our conversation, I have pulled the mother board and it is on its way to you. Please replace it with a confirmed working motherboard if you will. I trust your folks can turn it around more quick;y this time. I am looking forward to getting the cutter going again as soon as possible. Thanks for the help, Kevin -

Hi Ken- I don't recall speaking with anyone but you about this since April- musta been someone else. I know you're running as fast as you can, you've lots of folks to work with out here. If you think a return is in order, then please, let's move forward with it. Let me know the "how and where" logistics, when issuing the RMA # too. Thanks again, Kevin -

Hi Tykite, Ken, I left a voice mail on your support line this AM. I'm getting frustrated here and need constructive help, not a rehash of steps already taken. It's been a month now- no resolution, no cutter, no business. Please help, Kevin -

Thanks, yeah - that would be "normal" logic, nut it never hurts to ask... I don't want to anything that would "squirrel" future support needs on it, so I want to make sure I follow Ken's advice though. Kev -

Hey- - The limit switches have never been activated to my knowledge and the cutter head has remained in the middle of the carriage, this whole time/ (thanks mach9) - I have tried turning the unit off and re-depressing the limiter switches, and have done this same thing while powered on. No change in behavior. (thanks Popeye) So what now Ken? New MB? new LCD panel assy? Should I take the side covers off and see if removing the switches changes behavior? In which case, do they complete the circuit when out or when in? Thanks, Kevin -

Hey- Update on this downright inconvenient predicament... I received the replacement power supply yesterday (thanks to Ken & company). Installed it this morning and the same exact issue remains (see attached pics for exactly what I'm seeing after ps installation). Where do I go from here? Should I check for a stry ground at the LCD itself as mentioned previously, or send in the mother bd., or what? This is truly bummin' me out and hurting business (still new, I'm trying to please the few customers I have and this is dinging my rep badly). Please advise- thanks, Kevin -
