    Rain Boots

Thanks, Dakota... I ended up giving the boots back to the customer. She said she had another person lined up who could do it, so I would rather lose the little bit of profit I would've made than put out a product that wouldn't last.

    Rain Boots

That may be my only option. I've tried thinking of anything else that could make it stick, and nothing really comes to mind that might work.

    Rain Boots

Needing some advice... Got an order to place monograms on some rubber rain boots. The customer had planned on ordering them online and placing them herself, so I told her I'd cut and apply for a price that was comparable. But... The vinyl (Oracal 651) applies great. Looks smooth, stands out on the boots. Then as soon as you flex the material at all, the vinyl bunches up in places and ends up with creases throughout. Any recommendations? I haven't really tried any other options yet as I'm afraid to do anything that may damage the boot in case I end up having to give them back for her to try another solution. Thanks in advance, Shaina

    Old Racecar?

Thanks, guys. I'll show these to him and see if it's any closer than what I had.

    Old Racecar?

Alright... Usually I find my own or make my own vector rather than asking for help, but I've been so busy lately I haven't had the time (nor the energy) to do it, and I'm running low on time to make the sale on this job now. Customer wants a tshirt design with an older model racecar (more specifically, Late Model), with grass in front and an old building in the background. I can make do with the grass and building by combining files I've already got, but can't seem to find this style racecar anywhere. Does anyone have something similar to this or any suggestion on where to find it?

Thanks for the advice! Was planning to go ahead and order a couple new ones soon, so I'll save this link so I don't have to go fishing for it when the time comes Since this thread is a combo of my work and my problems with the old cutter, figured I'd go ahead and add a pic of what I did accomplish in the middle of working out the issues (or trying to) with the Mimaki. Hope to have lots and lots of new work to add soon, though!

I did actually, there was a slight line down the middle, but mostly on one end, so I flipped it over and rotated it so that the line was on the underneath-side and on the far side of the cutter, and it didn't seem to make any difference. I have too many jobs lined up at the moment, and was wasting so much time and vinyl, that I just opted to go on and order the new one. (I'm kinda impatient...) But on some down time, I may start fresh on trying to fix it, order a new cutting strip and see if it helps to get it running right again, either to sell or have a backup in the future.

Thought I'd let you guess I bought the Graphtec CE-5000 bundle on here (Apparently just in time because I just noticed that it isn't on sale today, but was last night when I ordered it). Also went ahead and got the FlexiStarter v10 software with it, because the dinosaur of a computer that came with the old machine when I bought it just wasn't cutting it anymore (no pun intended).

After changing the blade and setting it, I can put as much pressure as I want and it still won't cut all the way into the vinyl to make it weed-able (is that a word?) in places. Doesn't really seem to be a pattern, because it's different spots in the design that are cut correctly each time that I cut it. So... I'm guilty of giving up, and using it as an excuse to get a new toy. Had some money saved that was supposed to go for college, but I graduated this year and didn't have to use much of it due to scholarships, so I used it on a new machine... should be here on Monday But thanks again to everyone who gave advice, I learned a lot about what I was doing wrong all along, even if it didn't help me fix this one it should help me get more out of the new one.

I took the whole front off and checked underneath the rollers and everything, thinking maybe something was lodged and raising them up, causing it to cut deeper in some places, but still no luck. Checked everywhere I knew to check for small pieces of vinyl or anything like that and can't seem to see anything that looks amiss... Would moisture have caused something this extreme all of a sudden? The machine sat in my shop over the last couple months without being used much, and we've had a ridiculous amount of rain, but other than that, nothing has changed to have caused it to just start acting up since the last use.

Still attempting to fix the cutter, but still having major issues with it at the moment. I've been working 3 straight days on it and have only been able to get it to work correctly maybe 3 times, then with the next cut it is off again. Thinking something is warped or unlevel somehow, but now sure if there's any way to fix it. Used different types of vinyl, different blades, new and old, 45 and 60 degree, changed offset, speed, pressure, blade exposure, placed vinyl over cutting strip, turned it over and reapplied it, removed it completely, and no combination of any of these things seems to get me anywhere at all. It's rather frustrating. Rodger: Yes, the drop is a teardrop. Was one of the first decals I ever cut, as you can tell from the bubbles. I attempted two layers before I knew what I was doing, lol. I've used several different shapes for outlines for In Memory cuts, usually the customer has something in mind so I just go with it and make it look the best I can.

I hadn't had any trouble with it until lately... the last couple of days to be exact. But, then, it's an old machine that I bought used and not sure exactly how used it was when I got it, and it's several years old. So, I guess the wear and tear will get to anything eventually. Looking into buying another 24" cutter before long, maybe sooner than later if I can't get this thing fixed, so any recommendations would be great, as well lol.

    Mimaki cutter trouble...

Ah, that makes more sense than what I was trying to do. I was adjusting blade exposure with the outer sleeve still on the machine. Working on it that way now, and hopefully will have more luck. Thank you both!

    Mimaki cutter trouble...

Cutting strip looks good, seems to be even all the way across, but will try the temp fix and see if that helps. As for the blade exposure, in the past that's all I had to change, but now it's uneven across the plane of the cutter, if that makes sense. So when I take the blade in for less exposure, it causes it to cut fine on one side and then not cut at all on the other, so just the opposite problem I'm having now.

    Mimaki cutter trouble...

Hi all... Using a Mimaki CG-60st and it has worked wonderfully for me, until yesterday. It now, all of a sudden, cuts all the way through the vinyl on one side, while working perfectly on the other. I've tried changing every setting available, pressure, offset, speed, positioning of the blade, using different types of vinyl, and can't seem to get it straightened out. Has anyone else ever run into this problem? If so, help please?!?
