being a stepper motor I wouldn't think it would be super quiet but usually the higher end stepper motor cutters with finer resolution are not as noisy as the cheaper units.    will be curious to see how many select this for the wireless over the servo motor titan2,3 etc

My Titan 3 is a good cutter too.  Quieter than my MH721.

But it is hard to beat sanmars own port and company shirts for feel and durability.  if a customer feels they are getting a quality product they keep coming back for years - if they feel a product is inferior they find somewhere else the next time.   Part of the reason we don't buy shirts in cruise ports anymore - they are cheap and it is apparent.

I do love the Port and Company.

Why must Sanmar make it so hard? They have sent a email requesting the equipment I have, some of my designs I sale.

If I want to buy your shirts what does it matter what I do with them?

They have great shirt prices.  However if you are ordering under $200 (I think last time I checked), shipping is expensive.

As a side note, if you have your other cutters blade depth at a credit card thickness, you will want to fix them with my instructions,  that is way too much blade exposed. You should barely see and feel the blade tip, You only cut with the very tip of the blade.  And start your blade offset at around 0.25mm   and work in small changes to get the offset correct.

I did exactly that.  US Cutter took care of the re-install with the patches.  My blade is adjusted as you described.  ALL IS WELL!   Thank you all again

  5. I just found this in another thread.  US Cutter knows it is an issue and wants to charge people $60 to upgrade to SCAL5.  Does the PrisumCut machine even support SCAL5?  However, I am on Mojave not Catalina.

On 10/07, Apple released their new version of Mac OS, Catalina, which now requires all programs to be written as 64bit applications and not have any dependencies on 32 bit libraries or resources. At the time of release, neither Sure Cuts a Lot 3 Pro nor Sure Cuts a Lot 4 Pro are 64bit applications and as a result have been rendered incompatible with the new OS. Since that point, however, Sure Cuts a Lot 4 Pro has received a 64 bit update. That said, please be aware that there might be a few hiccups using this upgraded version as the developer works to assure it is fully complaint with the new OS' standards.

Thank you for reporting this issue to us, we have noticed there may be trend with the new 64bit version of Sure Cuts A Lot 4 Pro. In our testing, the blade offset appears to be off like the image above, and changing the blade offset does not resolve the issue. We are in touch with the developer to see if this issue can be patched. In the meantime, if the the need for a software is dire, you can upgrade your copy of SCAL4Pro to SCAL5Pro for $60, as it is currently on sale. We have not encountered these issues on SCAL5Pro, and you can find a link to that upgrade here on USCutter.com. Please let us know if anyone is encountering other issues with these newly released builds, and I'll follow-up here when a new version is released.

sure looks like an offset issue - what is your offset set at and since this is a new plotter is it set on the plotter or in the software or like a graphtec can be either way?

I tried on both.  In all my years of cutting, I have never had any issues with my Titan or MH721 when it came to offset.

  7. I tried both ways.  On the cutter and in the software.

But you don't state, what software, computer.? How is it connected?  How did you set your blade depth?   Have you ever ran a vinyl cutter before?  No mention of your settings. No mention of what you have done to try and fix the problem.  You have to provide info to work with.

SCAL4 Pro, MAC, WIFI, 1/2 the width of a credit card.  The depth is fine.  I have been using cutter since 2006.  I have a Titan3 and have an MH721.  I use to have a Roland-BN20 so I am well versed at cutting and software and computers.  I have tried to set the blade offset lower and higher.  On the machine and in the software.  Hope this helps you help me.  :)

  8. attachicon.gifSCAL4P text.pngOk. I downloaded the trial version. Just a quick walkthrough it looks very nice, crisp and clean. I tried the one thing that aggrevates me with SCAL3P. Here's the result. They still don't have the typing on path figured out, as you can tell on the top text. The bottom text is using the arch selection. Notice how everything is smooth, no overlapping characters. The only thing is if you have a wavy path you want to type on, it'll be like the top text, unless I haven't went deep enough. I'll update if I find something new with it.

I had to learn how to do the paths.  However, being able to do the arch has to be easier.

  9. No problem!

I'll try to do a quick txt tutorial here and if you continue to have issues I'll just have you call me and we can walk through it over the phone or something quick like that.

My assumption is that you are performing a live trace on a pre-existing image, such as photo? When you are done with your tracing and are happy with the results -

Go to Object / Live Trace / Expand

Then select the image, right click on it and click "ungroup"

Then, hit ctrl-A to select all. You will see a lot of hidden and un-need paths. In the sprocket image above, all you want to keep is the black stuff. So I go over the entire image deleting everything that isn't black.

click off the image to unselect everything

Start deleting the stuff you don't need

When you have it all cleaned up, save it as an Illustrator CS "8" EPS file and open that in Signcut.

Click the black icon on the right, this will show you everything it is going to cut. Give that a shot and see if you get the hang of it.

    Good luck.

I tried this and I don't know what hidden or un-needed paths are.

I guess I am just not very literate when it comes to this.

I get the image from my graphics person that helps me either in ai or jpg... I open it in AI, I perform a live trace and I figured I was happy until everything was double cutting. Unfortunately this is what I learned from my "ex" to be and he thought he knew everything.

So with that said, let me try all this on another one of my images.

Again, I am so greatful for your help and may have to take you up on the offer to call you. I will let you know.

  11. It does seem like the folks at signcut are more worried about money and profit than helping customers. If you read back on my post about my first experience with them... They invalidated my license, which was only a 1 year free one that i found come with the plotter when it was shipped to the company I purchased. A lot of folks chastised me for expecting them to honor it- when the license should have been owned by the company in the first place. I purchased part of a company- the rest was the customers which couldn't come with me to another state.... so end story- they removed support for a 1 year free license that was sold with a plotter by USCUTTER. What did that gain? I am not happy about it.

However, how long had you waited for an answer from support? They do guarantee support if you have a valid license- which one do you have? I guess if you had waited days without an answer you may be justified, but if it would have been me they would get constant emails until I got an answer. I wouldn't spend a dime to get one- because it would be justified since you knew what you were buying into, unless of course they never contacted you in the 4 hour time frame.

I see both sides of the fence...

I have two cutters. I recently bought the second one and received a 1-year license.

As far as the licenses. I figured out what happened. I was using both cutters on one computer before I moved. Just changed the cord. Since I moved I have a new desktop along with my laptop and wanted to hook up both and use at the same time. Unfortunately, that isn't how the lisences work. It's a transfer not multiple machine usage. So with that said, I will keep one with the lisences and will have to purchase the dongle for the other. I will still have to renew the license once the year is up but only for one instead of two machines. Of course, unless there is a better alternative to save me money.

As for the 4-hour priority support that I paid $14.95 for? Never got a phone call. It has been since 4/7/2011.

At the same time I wrote to support and received some lame response. Now here is her response to my question for help. I absolutely know my file wasn't ready and this isn't a response I was needing. I needed help not someone to analyze that it's not ready to cut.

    kim, Apr-08 15:59 (CDT):

Your file is barely cut ready with alot of artifacts and extra points that should be cleaned up. You also have quite a few duplicate objects. You have white bd black layers of the same objects. You either need to clean up the image or use the cut by color feature in SignCut and only cut the black, although it has a lot of ragged edges.

  12. If I've read these two threads correctly, your cutting issues are the result of the files sent to SignCut having more cut lines than desired and now resolved?

Yes resolved from a member here and I am greatful for that.

  13. Show and GO: You have no idea how much I appreciate this. I am so very HAPPY. Thank you sooooooooo much.

Is there anyway you can do a quick tutorial for me as I would be able to get my graphics and cutting done. I am a visual type person.

I have to be shown how to do something. I will try the above when I get my machine going to cut these and see if I can do what you annotated above

    to fix my other graphics.

    Again, I am elated.

  14. I have been trying to understand and figure out why all of my graphics that I open up in AI double cut when I send to Sign-cut. Also, it has started to cut through the actual decal that doesn't need cutting.

I am attaching the AI file that is double cutting and I am in desperate need to fix it so it doesn't double cut. It takes too much time out of my schedule to have these double cut.

Also please see attached the signcut file that shows either all the cuts or movements of the cutting.

Can anyone please help me fix the AI file?

    and

give me detailed directions on how I can do this to all of the graphics I cut.

    Your help is greatly appreciated.

    YOU HAVE NO IDEA

  15. If you use up all your transfer before your subscription is up, the license basically expires and you'll need to purchase a new one. Call SignCut and explain your situation and ask if they can reset your license for you.

The number for signcut is no longer valid. I tried calling them today.
